YOASOBI's concept is "turning novels into music". Every song has an original novel.
More like zootopia into a song. Instead of a fox, it’s a wolf.
Only the people who don't know that Yoasobi is a duo refer to it as "her" (Ikura), everyone who knows the band refers to it as "them" as in both Ayase and Ikura.

And then “her” and “him” when they do their own things separately. It’s so cool that they do their own thing with different styles and then they come back together as Yoasobi.
Yoasobi is the perfect synergy between Ikura and Ayase. Ayase’s music production quality is simply from another world and Ikura’s on point vocal line and emotional performance cements the whole thing together. It’s a perfect 50/50 parasitic match!
This song was
my introduction to YOASOBI’s music, and instantly I was hooked. This song has so many layers to it - the key changes (especially the one at the end, GOD I love it), the tempo transitions…it’s so good
Also: please give BEASTARS a try sometime! Like “Oshi no Ko”, there’s a great story and fun time to be had

The first opening is a vibe too if you want to just check it out on your own time. Never skipped it.

I recommend the song "Blessing" because it's a fast and cool song.
The anime is quite good, too! Maybe you can put it into your backlog, too. Ayase is an amazing song and lyrics writer.
For me, this is one of the best Yoasobi music. The best now is of course Idol. And you should listen to "Blessing" , the theme song Yoasobi made for Gundam anime. To me, Blessing is no.2 right behind Idol, and then comes Monster, and then Yoru ni Kakeru (Racing into the night), and Gunjo, and Tsubame (Swallow), and San Gen Shoku (RGB).
Best is subjective, my favourite is gunjo
But there are many amazing artists out there to listen, I personally recommend Minami’s “Crying for Rain”, and “Hollowness”. 😊

if you're looking for more instrumentation in a japanese song i highly recommend listening to some of eve's songs. I can suggest his song called tokyo ghetto because the instrumental is really good

It is kind of interesting that "Monster" got recommended instead of "Shukufuku". The latter is much more recent and after understanding who's perspective that the song is from and to whom, it gave me more feels. However, it definitely could be recency bias. I still like Monster enough to know all of the lyrics 😂
I feel that YOASOBI is keep one upping themselves with every song, so the newest song is their current best. Going backwards might have older songs be outshined by newer songs.
Their other songs that isn't an anime openings or endings are also great!! I personally like "Ano Yume Wo Nozotte" and "Loveletter", I would definitely to see your reaction if you ever do a video about them

I want to go agaist the grain and suggest something different - try Kalafina
They maybe or maybe not your cup of tea... but they are defintiely unique like none other. Their music is almost classical music and symphonic rock in compositional complexity and structure. They had actually disbanded a long time ago but there's no equivalent to their music to these days. I would definitely recommend you give it a try, I think you will appreciate many of their idea as an artist if nothing else
Yoasobi is a duo (them). the composer and lyricist is Ayase (him) and the vocalist is Ikura (her). both have their own solo career too.
I'd love for you to check out some songs by the band JAM Project, hard to choose... After a lot of thought "Rocks" and "Shugoshin -The Guardian-",

Ayase is the best in Japan at understanding customer needs.
7:46 "Monster"/"Kaibutsu" is Beastar's Season 2 opening, Yoasobi also did the Season 2 ending "Comet", the Season 1 Opening was "Wild Side" by ALI which is also worth checking out

YOASOBI's singing to me its sound is quite short compared to other normal singers, the Japanese language sound is already very short but YOASOBI's singing is shorter

can I be the other person on this channel that says Beastars is great? listen, i had my worries as well, but after seeing it, it's a pretty smart and cool anime imo (although yes it is kinda weird and perverted) and I think you might even enjoy it, who knows! I say give it a shot, what's the worst that could happen lol
