I gotta say, this is the reason I love watchmojo: I never would've watched something from 1957, I never would've come across it in any other way, ever, after seeing this I watched 12 angry men and my mind was blown, my opinion of older films has been challenged and potentially changed, and I've discovered a great new film! Thanks! :P
Cheesehead302 what, The Hateful Eight? Hahahah no Have you even seen half of the films on this list? The Hateful Eight is great, but certainly not better than most of these
Rope is also interesting because Hitchcock only used ten cuts through the entire film (as an example of how amazing that is the shower scene in Psycho had FIFTY and that was for about three minutes of time). How he never won an Oscar for one of his movies will always be sad to me.
12 angry men is by far the movie that set the bar for this sort of one room setting. The Hateful Eight is a great Tarantino movie but for someone to come right out of the gate with a movie (and screenplay) like Reservoir Dogs is a sign of future greatness. I need to check out a few more on this list
It's... It's not? That is immediately what I think of when I think of amazing movie taking place in one room and having awesome dialogue. Seriously, it's a 3 hour movie and the fact that it took place in one room and consisted mainly of dialogue yet was never slightly boring at any time is incredible. I know people might write it off because it's a Quentin Tarantino movie, but it's his best movie in years honestly. The set, the location, and the character's clothing and everything feel super "authentic" if you know what I mean. And I'm pretty confident that it's legitimately the best Samuel L Jackson has done since Pulp Fiction.
Rear Window should have beaten Reservoir Dogs. Not only does it take place in a single room more than Reservoir Dogs does, but it's also a better film. And I love Reservoir Dogs.
***** I don't agree. Hitchcock directs the shit out of Rear Window, but I don't think is necessarily too tight and not all moments are as tense. I love it too but I think the three I mentioned are better.
+rozza30Gaming yeah but a lot of the films on this list have scenes outside of one room. Reservoir dogs for instance a lot of that film takes place outside of that building
One of my favorites is also 'Exam'. It takes place in the most unnerving room ever and shows the most shocking and ruthless job interview you'll ever see
Fun fact, 12 angry men features the man whom voices the character of "Piglet" too bad he only has like one line at the very end haha. also Hows about "Panic Room" "Phone Booth" ? close honorable mentions?
He actually has few lines. He corrected the title of the movie the other juror went to see, he timed the simulated old man walk from the bed to the door, he offered the other jurors gum, and denied having anymore gum when the guy who was being a jerk asked. That's all I remember off the top but I think he has a few more. I love that film.
Lo is my favorite movie set in one location. It technically all transpires in a bedroom - but the entire film is filmed on a theatrical stage. Its a fantastic comedy, and one of my favorites!
Yeah I agree with this list, one other one I can think of is "Night, Mother" it seriously takes place only in one section of a home and features only two characters, everyone needs to check that one out, it's fantastic.
Interview (2007) with Steve Buscemi and Sienna Miller (though it begins in the restaurant and continues in her apartment) it surely feels like one room film ... I loved it, I would watch it even if it was 15 hours long ...
Yes!! 12 Angry Men was a no brainer for the top spot - an incredible film! I'm definitely gonna have to check out a few others on the list I haven't seen though.
"Buried" staring Ryan Reynolds should be on this list. One actor, one space(a coffin), and it's brilliant. It is the only movies to make me feel trapped and unable to breathe while watching. Also it truly is just in the coffin the whole movie, I mean reservoir dogs has scenes outside and at other locations, so does 1408. Buried is literally just in the coffin start to finish, and for one man to keep you entertained for the whole movie, shows great writing and acting.

WHY HAVE THE SCRIPTS THAT ARE SHOWN FOR EACH VIDEO BEEN REMOVED
How is the EXAM not here
I was thinking the exact same thing. EXAM was amazing!
12 Angry Men better be number one...
Nice.
I thought the same thing when I read the title
Lizy Conyers WatchMojo isn't *all* bad. :)
Never said it was
Lizy Conyers I know but there are alot of people complaining about WatchMojo, that's why I said it.
I gotta say, this is the reason I love watchmojo: I never would've watched something from 1957, I never would've come across it in any other way, ever, after seeing this I watched 12 angry men and my mind was blown, my opinion of older films has been challenged and potentially changed, and I've discovered a great new film! Thanks! :P
Rope is also worth watching. Brilliant film.
A lot of good ones. Very well made.
Rear window changed mine and Vertigo too
If you like 12 Angry Men then you should try Inherit The Wind.
First of all, 12 angry men should be at 1st. Second of all why are you spoiling? ?
Truman Show! it's set in one really really really big room :)
Raptor Jesus Haha!!! That’s genius
My exact thought xD
Lol
@@Akrelide rszcy
I swear if 12 Angry Men isn't first...
I was think this same thing the entire time haha
Lmao same
that was a pretty obvious number one, so was rope.
+Clint Bandura This is mainly based on what people vote for, and so films like Hateful Eight could do really well undeservedly.
that's literally what I just commented 😂. I scrolled down to see if anyone else said the same thing lol. 12 angry men is too legendary.
"spurred Tarantino's single setting fascination, which was perfected in The Hateful Eight." If it was perfected, why didn't it make the list?
because the Hateful Eight isnt set in 1 location, the first hour is outside in the snowstorm and in the carriage
It hands down should be #1, no contest.
Cheesehead302
what, The Hateful Eight? Hahahah no
Have you even seen half of the films on this list? The Hateful Eight is great, but certainly not better than most of these
12 Angry Men earned that spot
Kyle Dick
yeah i dont agree with that pick either, because it is indeed not a one location film
The Man from Earth is, simply put, an amazing masterpiece.
DEFINITELY
SHOULD'VE BEEN TOP 3 EASILY!
Thank you! Exactly
What about Misery? It took place in the bedroom like 90% of the film
Nick Barrie that 10% also counts, i guess. These are films 100% in one room.
ZzZzTHEFLAMEZzZz not reservoir dogs, there's like 20% of that film that isn't in the warehouse
Nick Barrie I guess they just didn't think it should make the list.
I think this top 10 is one of their best at WatchMojo.
What about porn? LOL
Dooke DiConti lol
The Room - Tommy Wiseau
haha...
Oh hi Mark!
Lol
If you've seen 12 Angry Men than you know why it's #1.
Circle should have been an honorable mention
that's the only reason I came here not even gonna bother watching the vid now :(
Oh I love that film!
I agree. it was an impressive flick
I was thinking that the entire time
Thats no room....it's a space station.
Technically.
Rope is also interesting because Hitchcock only used ten cuts through the entire film (as an example of how amazing that is the shower scene in Psycho had FIFTY and that was for about three minutes of time).
How he never won an Oscar for one of his movies will always be sad to me.

I absolutely love suspense and horror movies that take place in 1 room, one of my fav genres
12 angry men has to be number 1 Pleaseeeee
YAAAAAAYYY
Me 2
i agree
Yep!!
I watched that movie in 9th grade for Civics and it was one of the best films I've ever seen lol
The hateful eight should be on this list! Amazing movie!
Ikr
Did it happen in ONE ROOM??
It's... It's not? That is immediately what I think of when I think of amazing movie taking place in one room and having awesome dialogue. Seriously, it's a 3 hour movie and the fact that it took place in one room and consisted mainly of dialogue yet was never slightly boring at any time is incredible. Is that a joke? You do realise that you aren't supposed to like Sammy J, he is a war criminal.
ikr only reason i came in here was to see Hateful Eight on the list, and well of course the Reservoir Dogs thumbnail.
12 Angry Men is one of my favorite movies.
Same here
it's overrated
Last week i watched 12 Angry Men for the first time and the dialogue absolutely blew me away, it was a masterful movie.
#3 Rope
#2 Reservoir Dogs
#1 12 Angry Men
better be
DAMN I WAS ALMOST RIGHT!! I SWEAR I WROTE THIS BEFORE I WATCHED THE VIDEO I'M A MOTHERFUCKING GENIUS
Rear window is awesome!!
kakashi101able Agree
Saw 1 immediately came in my mind when I read the title 😂
Did you get pregnant?
Same
What about the Cube trilogy does that count?
Same
Same
So glad "Rear Window" is in this list. Amazing movie
Where is Cube? .... Technically its 1 room
Technically, it's 17576 rooms.
Yeah but, I imagine 1,000,000,000 cubes because each room has primary of 9 numbers to 3 each apart. From the movie "Cube" (1997)!
I love that you guys included Rope.
5 is almost Inconcievable.
the exam ??????
one of my favorites ..
i think its just called Exam
Is it really that good?
Yes
@@baburao87 no its not that good, its just meh
10 Cloverfield Lane, if it qualifies, better be high up.
Oh yeah for sure
+Daniel Lopez It's one of my favorite all around films too. :)
But it has scenes in the main girl's house, the bunker itself has many rooms, and they even go outside!!
+rozza30Gaming You could say that the vast majority is a a bunker, which is kind of like one disconnected room.
+rozza30Gaming yeah but a lot of the films on this list have scenes outside of one room. Reservoir dogs for instance a lot of that film takes place outside of that building
The Hateful Eight not even in the top 10...
When it should be at the top of the list lmao.
Man fucking love that film
Cheesehead302 I wouldn't go that far
+NFbnn Why not?
Good film!
I love The Man From Earth.
So glad to see it finally made one of the lists.
Not a single room
But "the others" is one that keeps popping in my head
Well then... these could have made the list too...
*Clue
*Dial M for Murder
*The Hateful Eight
*A Murder on the Orient Express
Exam is great.
I actually really liked Circle, but I cant understand why some people wouldnt.
yeah! after reading the title of the vid, Exam came into my mind first :D
Ugh Exam was horrible. The ending was so dumb!!!!!
+Brett Pierce I did too.
I was looking for this. The ending wasn't that good, though
I hope you have "The Exam" on this list Mojo!
Spot on list! Good job, WatchMojo!
One of my favorites is also 'Exam'. It takes place in the most unnerving room ever and shows the most shocking and ruthless job interview you'll ever see
Can’t believe they didn’t include it even in the "Honourable mentions"
What about would you rather ??
For once, I have to agree with the #1 pic. "12 Angry Men" is one of the greatest screen plays ever made!
The Man from Earth is one of the smartest movies ever.
The sequel is one of the worst abominations I have ever seen.
Im here just for Rope. Im glad you incluide it ;)
There was never a doubt for number one. Just a masterpiece!!
One of the best lists you guys have done in a while. Except you guys forgot Panic Room.
That movie was amazing
Not 1 room.
Good call
Rope was the first one that came to my mind.
The movie "Dinner with Andre" is just inconceivable!
good one
Thank you for selecting my favorites, The Breakfast Club and 1408
Thank you for including man from earth in your list....I wish everyone would watch and get to know what an amazing movie it is
Fun fact, 12 angry men features the man whom voices the character of "Piglet" too bad he only has like one line at the very end haha. also Hows about "Panic Room" "Phone Booth" ? close honorable mentions?
A phone booth isn't a room and a lot of Panic Room actually takes place outside of the panic room following the robbers and what their doing
ATM is a pretty good one that takes place in 1 room
He actually has few lines. He corrected the title of the movie the other juror went to see, he timed the simulated old man walk from the bed to the door, he offered the other jurors gum, and denied having anymore gum when the guy who was being a jerk asked. That's all I remember off the top but I think he has a few more. I love that film.
The Breakfast Club is such a damn good movie.
I agree
Does 12 Cloverfield Lane count as staying in one room? They spend literally the whole movie in the bunker
Scottie Currie Yes it qualifies as a one room movie. But it's not good enough to be in this top ten list.
This video has convinced me to pursue my independent film career. Wish me luck.
This actually is a good list. No longer "running out of ideas for lists" I see; you could say watch mojo got their mojo back
The Killing Room should be on here. Direct to video and severely underrated.
Psychological thriller at its finest.
Top 10 movies that have women in them
Every movie has women in them
Brokeback mountrain
+Amiri Copeland what did Harry say?
Really? Are you a wizard Harry?
that is not true
I absolutely love the Breakfast Club *_* Carnage and Reservoir Dogs are also great.
Finally, a good list from watchmojo
I KNEW 12 Angry Men would be no. 1. It was the first movie I thought of when thinking of movies that take place in one room. It's such a good film.
Rope is my best favorite movie ever ! Brandon ❤
Anne Frank
lol
diaries of Anne Frank should a been on the list lol
I was expecting that one too. I seen it in middle school. Good film interpretation of people in a desperate state running low on resources.
If '12 Angry Men' isn't number 1...
I was happy to see "My Dinner with André". One of my favorite films
Good pics for this list, and you guys even got the one I was really hoping would have been here: Reservoir dogs. I absolutely love that film!
12 Angry men best movie ever
12 angry men was actually a pretty interesting movie
Exam? Anybody?
♥
Very impressed with this list.
Lo is my favorite movie set in one location.
It technically all transpires in a bedroom - but the entire film is filmed on a theatrical stage.
Its a fantastic comedy, and one of my favorites!
What about 10 Cloverfeild Lane
SAW should be higher on the list! >.
I'm guessing number 1 before watching- 12 angry men?
WOOOHOOOO
Tanuj Singh I know right?
Tanuj Singh wasn't there an episode of Family Guy that's based on that movie?
@@damianprock1650 i believe so
man from earth is the best!!! so happy it made the list
Yay for Rope! So underrated imo.
totally forgot about Exam and the Divede.
Where is Cube (1997)?
Next: Top 10 Movies that Take Place in One Day
Awesome picks!
When I saw "My Dinner with Andre" in this video, all I could think of is that it was "inconceivable".
Where the heck is "Cube"?? That movie was filmed in one room!
What about Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
That's what I was thinking. Should be number 1.
What about Circle? Why didn't Circle get an honorable mention?
Arguably the most well-deserved number one spot in watchmojo history.
This list really drives home the point than less is so often more in movies.
Not that the movie is that great, I'm surprised 'Circle' isn't mentioned.
thehorror movie about people kidnapped and then killed if they don't follow the rules?
Looner Zoldick
Not quite. A person is killed every other minutte. The rest has to chose who it is. It's a simple premise but actually works very well.
I was thinking that too, I know it's not a great movie but is one of my favorites
Nah...that piece of..crap!
I bet number 1 is..............The Room
Oh God sorry I meant........Room.
Why, Watchmojo, Why?
how about clerks??
Agreed
The Rope is finally mentioned! One of my favorite Hitch movies of all time!
Yeah I agree with this list, one other one I can think of is "Night, Mother" it seriously takes place only in one section of a home and features only two characters, everyone needs to check that one out, it's fantastic.
sunset limited is WAY better than most of the movies in the list
No, it's not.
start from number 1 and watch the entire list of movies then reassess that statement
May not be the top but deserves the HM.
it's sure waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than "Saw" - a sick movie made by sick people for sick people...
I've never seen Sunset Limited, but I was sold when I saw Samuel L. Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones on the same screen.
Where is the hateful eight?
the Hateful Eight isnt set in 1 location, the first hour is outside in the snowstorm and in the carriage
RIGHT?!?!
Guess it was only mention for Reservoir Dogs
It's not all set in the one room - there are scenes outside in the snow storm
+Cat Sole the movie takes place the majority in one room!
exam?
not good enough for top 10....saw is 10th what do you expect
The Big Kahuna should've been an honorable mention
Great list! Many good films are on here! :D
12 Angry Men better be on here 😋
sleuth? Sleuth?? SLEUTH??? boy.
sleuth is in a house, not just one room, if I remember correctly.
Good movie
"Wait Until Dark"??? :(
Interview (2007) with Steve Buscemi and Sienna Miller (though it begins in the restaurant and continues in her apartment) it surely feels like one room film ... I loved it, I would watch it even if it was 15 hours long ...
Yes!! 12 Angry Men was a no brainer for the top spot - an incredible film! I'm definitely gonna have to check out a few others on the list I haven't seen though.
WHERE IS "Un dîner de cons" SERIOUSLY
THIS MOVIE IS JUST AMAZING
I said that as well in my comment. It should have been given at least an honorable mention. It is hilarious.
Pat Mccurry
Originally its a play :)
You saw it in VO with subtiles or not ?
Yeah. I knew it was a play. I watched it with subtitles as I do not speak French.
Pat Mccurry
There is no translation in English ?
The subtitles were in English.
