  • The 4-day Inca Trail with Alpaca Expeditions is an extraordinary journey that takes you along one of the world’s most famous trails to the spectacular citadel of Machu Picchu. This unique experience combines adventure, culture, and history, allowing travelers to immerse themselves in the rich heritage of the Inca Empire while enjoying the unparalleled beauty of the Andean landscapes.
    Day 1: Cusco - Piskacucho Km 82
The adventure begins with a transfer from Cusco to kilometer 82, the official starting point of the Inca Trail. The first day is a gentle introduction to the trail, with a moderate hike along the Urubamba River, passing by ancient archaeological sites such as Llactapata, and arriving at the campsite in Wayllabamba. This day offers a perfect mix of natural beauty and cultural sites, setting the stage for the days to follow.
Day 2: Dead Woman’s Pass - Runcuraccay Pass - Chaquicocha
This is the most challenging but also the most rewarding day. Hikers will ascend the famous Warmiwañusca pass, known as 'Dead Woman’s Pass', reaching heights of over 4,200 meters above sea level. The views from the summit are simply spectacular, spanning vast stretches of the Andean mountains. After a brief rest at the top, the descent leads to the archaeological site of Runkurakay and then to Sayacmarca, two complexes full of mystery and beauty. Finally, the journey ends at the campsite in Chaquicocha, where you can rest and recover.
Day 3: Chaquicocha - Wiñay Wayna
After Chaquicocha, you will continue ascending to pass another impressive site, Phuyupatamarca, known as the 'city above the clouds'. Here you can enjoy panoramic views over the Urubamba River valley. The route continues descending towards Wiñay Wayna, an archaeological site that means 'forever young' and is famous for its stunning agricultural terraces. This will be your last campsite before reaching Machu Picchu.
Day 4: Sun Gate - Machu Picchu
The last day begins before dawn with the goal of reaching Intipunku, the Sun Gate, in time to watch the sunrise illuminating Machu Picchu. This magical moment gradually reveals the iconic structures and breathtaking landscapes that make this place a wonder of the world. After enjoying a guided tour of the citadel, you will have free time to explore on your own before returning to Cusco.
Alpaca Expeditions guarantees a quality service, with expert guides who not only provide detailed insights into the history and culture of the places you visit but also ensure that every aspect of your journey is comfortable and well-organized. This Inca Trail experience will leave you not only with impressive photographic memories but with a deep appreciation for the Inca culture and the stunning Peruvian landscape.
