It's just like that back home in Guyana.. crickets fiercly competing for your attention; but then the brain kind of zones it out after a while and you only really notice every now and again... Anyway, nice walk, and great scenery... I really enjoy these night walks.

The high-density, human-scaled suburbs of Tokyo sure beat the Mc-Mansion neighborhoods of the part of the world I come from! Japan's urban environment is an absolute heaven on Earth for public transit geeks like myself:)

I think it's interesting that if you took this "rural" area and transplanted it to the U.S., it'd instantly be one of the densest cities in most states.
How recent was this? I plan on a trip to Japan in March 2023. I would love to take some really long walks but so afraid of getting lost and loosing my way from my hotel. It would be nice if I could just find a cheap hotel somewhere if I did get lost and stay one night.
9/28 as per description. Any walks around Tokyo are extremely easy with Google Maps. You can walk to the closest station pretty much everywhere. I don't think you need to stay in another hotel as emergency.
Thanks Ramblac, it just looks like an incredible maze. I often watch bike or walks in Tokyo and many other places in Japan. As long as I have a connection with my phone and can understand what train I need to take, then I should be ok.
Just instal the taxi app on your phone. Japan has bunch of them, I'm sure your's hotel personnel will help you to find a tourist friendly one. You will be able to get the taxi everywhere and would not care whatever driver speaks english.

I'm sincerely loving how pedestrian and bicycle friendly Japanese cities are! A lot of places close to me don't even have sidewalks.
