I had a mate who's sister had recorded this on video ;late night on the Tube TV program. i made him play it every time i went round. i was obsessed with it. scared and thrilled me at the same time. if you lived in the mid 80s then you'll probably get it. this and threads gave me plenty of things to worry about
Frankie brought out a different version of this record? every week for 14 weeks so people wouldnt get bored of the song. FGTH Brilliant as was the 80s and 90s.
Just as fukkin good as watchin it on The Tube all those years ago on a VHS recorder with the remote attached to about 30 foot of cable. Awesome. I had to stay up til 12:30am to record this fukka.
I grew up in the 80s & even went to see Frankie goes to hollywood live (aged 16).. & now this song is relevant again. Its back to going to bed wondering if you'll ever wake up again.. it scarred me for life, I so hope cool heads prevail.
Great song and vid even 30 years on. How times change...back when this first came out it was banned from MTV (which actually played music videos back then) for being too violent. Still packs a hell of a message, with Ronald Reagan and Konstantin Chernenko providing some good ol' bird-flippin', crotch-grabbin', ear-bitin' fun.
Quite possibly the most influential song to mark Frankie Goes to Hollywood as the most important political bands to hit the airwaves. Banned in many countries, Two tribes describes the fueds between us and the USSR. It gave the public a view point that violence escalates in every corner of the world. And it is something we can definately do without. Especially today. Holly Johnson is still in my book a musical genius when it comes to showing the dark side of a human.
Frankie goes to hollywood became the most important political musical groups ever created in the eighties. Using slight symphonic sounds mixed with their own blend of unique technical music, gave the public a needed boost it craved. With songs like relax, pleasure dome, and Two Tribes, they closed the gap between government officials and the general public and how they view our so called governments that supposed to work for us. This was an excellent example of very low morals in a humane world.
How on earth is this brilliant tune 35 years old. Thats time travel or the mandela effect as this sounds incredible in March 2019... This should be re-released today with this video. Number 1 across the world... Again
My hollywood angels - jesus & her lawyer - the moon bears & the absolute angels - love will prevail over black hearts - with love, faith, compassion and angel justice - you heros of my youth - JESUS 7 GOD - loves you all.X
This is a very funny video. If only politicians did the fighting instead getting young people to fight and die for the their decisions. Also this song is so relevant now given the current world situation.
в клипе изображен поединок между американским и советским лидерами. Тогда (в 1984) это были Президент США Рональд Рейган и Генеральный секретарь ЦК КПСС Константин Черненко. wikipedia - Two_Tribes
Good old 'Big Ron', he had the bottle to position Cruise at Newbury when Andropov placed Soviet SS20 launchers in East Germany and Poland. This won the cold war. The Soviets soon saw that the West would neither back down nor be outspent on defence in Europe.
Ah yes, mutually assured destruction, those were the days indeed. It was so comforting to know we'd all die together, our taxes invested in wonderfully powerful weapons, proving how strong and clever we were. Nowadays we just hack into the enemy's phones. Where's the fun in that?
I remember the dangerous insanity of that "NATO double decision", giving Moscow only minutes to launch a counterstrike if they suspected a Pershing launch from Europe. Thus too little time to determine if it was a false alarm. Millions of people publicly opposed this, yet we only survived because the USSR went bankrupt before it would happen.
Nearly 30 years on, this still remains my favourite ever song. Nine weeks at number one during the hot summer of 1984.
Annihilation Best 12inch ever
@@juniorrobinson4678 Way better song than Relax. The lyrics are way too gross in Relax.
A lot of night clubs had this screens in there clubs am old enough to remember this working away a lot at this time
That bass is a gem

Threads made The Day After look like a cartoon.

Brilliant video. I remember staying up watching channel 4’s the tube special programme showing of this back in june 1984.
Yeah we waited up 'till midnight for this baby and we were not disappointed, one of the best pop videos in the world, made in Great Britain.

I was thinking how things are still the same.
MTV did play the shorter version of the video. I think I saw this version on USA's Night Flight.
Great to see this one again after so long... absolutely brilliant!!!!
THE BEST FRICKIN' VID OF THE 80's!!! beyond reproach...anybody beg to differ? xo

Reagan vs soviet General Constantin Chernyenko. Classic 80's GREAT video!
Man this is now back to eternal Life. Just earlier I had on some female singers who had their finite stay on Earth, not one of them Janice Joplin.

Best frickin vid -period-.. ...also, True Faith by New Order...missin the 80's!
The amazing thing is that in 1984 we almost did have a nuclear exchange by accident with the soviet union.
THIS represents exactly what's going on right NOW.
Still so relevant too. Damn.
Where have all the good sounds & artist moved to....???? Not this planet....!!!!
What's hilarious is that Chernenko was the Soviet premier for just thirteen months...

Reagan Rocked!!
THIS IS THE WAY IT SHOULD BE : Put the bastards in a ring.
If only all the world's conflicts could be resolved by having the nations leaders fighting it out in a no holds barred ring.
it would be a lot more helpful if they could get actors who at minimum bore a *passing* resemblance to the figures they're portraying.
This is a very funny video. If only politicians did the fighting instead getting young people to fight and die for the their decisions. Also this song is so relevant now given the current world situation.
My grandad went in the army
Who was having nightmares of a nuclear war at this time 🤣 I know I was
And that is Election Day in America.

в клипе изображен поединок между американским и советским лидерами.

Socially relevant, even today.

WELL'ARD............
Hi...HD" under the video is not work ..Error 1020: Access Denied
And what about its chart position back in the USSR?! Not high.
Does anyone know who the two actors were.?
Absolutely Brilliant song and video. Would love to see this remade with Vladimir Putin and Obama in the ring together.
same effect
Above everything else, the american people want leaders who will keep the peace....hahahahahahahahahahahaha
Is that Nixon in the beginning?
Yep.
Good old 'Big Ron', he had the bottle to position Cruise at Newbury when Andropov placed Soviet SS20 launchers in East Germany and Poland. This won the cold war. The Soviets soon saw that the West would neither back down nor be outspent on defence in Europe.

So who won?
Death.
Nobody wins. We all loose. As a NORAD computer famously quotes in the War Games movie. "A strange game. The best move is not to play".
Who is the guy that is talking about a limited nuklear war?
Not 100% certain I think maybe Norman Schwarzkopf
Reagan smashed the Soviet Communists without firing a shot. What a great President big Ron was.
No, mr Kim Jong Un!!!
