I think the padded/leather jackets are bought by pinoys who are visiting overseas with cold weather. Instead of buying branded ones for just a few days of use.
True, when my cousins and aunt had their family trip to hongkong years back, instead of buying new coats, they opt to buy them in the ukay ukay, saved them a lot of money on those, they also bought boots good for the cold weather
Seohee, the leather jackets can be used for costume, for cold malls and other cold places such as Baguio and for traveling abroad. Love your videos, so straightforward, natural and authentic. More videos and enjoy the Philippines. Ingat always! ❤
Most items sold in ukay-ukay stores are genuine second-hand items. They come from various sources, such as donations, surplus stocks, or clearance sales from other countries. But some stores include fake items but it is very rare. So go to trustworthy stores. Love your videos.
1:14 Sometimes, when people are planning to stay long in colder areas in the Philippines like Baguio, Benguet, Tagaytay or Batanes, some Filipinos love the warmth leather or fluff jackets brings comfort and heat to the body. The leather jacket is also the staple look for overseas Filipino workers who are in countries with colder climates. I hope this answers your question.
J=hello .... the last place ukay-ukay Paco is where me, my sisters and brotheres studied there in Paco Catholic School. Salamat seeing the Paco area at your vlog. Great buy Seohee!
Oh my God, you're back! I've already watched all your vlogs. I used to work in a call center, so I normally go to thrift stores to buy sweaters or long sleeves. I'm not a fan of leather, but other people buy it for style.
I think this is the motivation to go ukay ukay today. I know all of those spots except for the last store in Cubao before you go to Cubao expo. That's the 1st time I've seen it so thank you
@@poshiwoshi1747 all of the shops she went to were ok. When it comes to prices, almost the same lng yan. Mataas during new arrival and it gets lower by the days. Pero syempre ok mamili pag new arrival, optiooons. Meron lang cguro 3-4 shops sa anonas na mas premium ung pricing from other shops sa anonas din and sa Cubao and reason for this is they cater to a different market - mga semi to luxury used na brands, at least from what I can remember.
Nice! i just watched your vid recently. as someone who has been living in NZ for a decade, watching you is like reliving my life there back in the PH. You should visit my hometown, Olongapo City, Zambales (SBMA) if you have time. Rooting for your channel!
I've been there decades ago! The higher you up, the cheaper it gets! Back then, items sold on the top floor cost 5PHP!!! Most of these items you see in ukay-ukay come from abroad (mostly Japan, Korea, etc). thus you'll find leather jackets as well as designer items (mostly original vintage or preloved). I had a friend who owned a big ukay-ukay shop in Makati and we would visit her shop whenever new boxes would arrive. New arrival items are always more expensive though but once the shop already earned a profit from the new arrival items, they go on major discount sales! I've thrifted some of my very first designer items (Armani and YSL blazers, Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress, Marc Jacobs shirt, vintage Balenciaga bag, etc.) back in early 2000's. I've scoured through thifts shops in Manila, Tagaytay, Baguio, etc.and would style my fab finds and wore them to work, parties and events in Makati.
Leather Jackets are not used in Manila and other cities, you would buy them and then go to the more colder regions in the Philippines (Baguio, Cordilleras, Sagada etc.)
I didnt know that theres a lot of Ukay around Araneta Cubao and i still live and grew up here😅 maybe because i just stay around Gateway, Farmers, Alimall & SM. I'll check out the ukays and that sizzling place you went to😊
you can do bargain with them or in any other vendors wherever you are. even for street food. if you haven't yet, you can try to bargain next time. a t-shirt could only be at 100-200, a shorts at 50-100, shoes at 300-700 or 1K depends on the condition and quality. and just a tip, don't show or let them know how much is the original price of the brand new in the malls or online.
Good question.. the leather jackets, we should use those when riding motorcycles for protection from road rash caused by vehicular accidents and theyre also water resistant, thats theoretically speaking. But i guess, because of the humidity of the country and a bit of ignorance, most use the jerseys instead which gives no protection from accidents. Love the red horse logo at the ending credits. 🤣👌🏼 #PulangKabayo
Man the last i went to any ukay ukay store was before the pandemic. During the pandemic, i downsized my clothing and dont feel the need to buy stuff spontaneously anymore. The problem with ukay is that you have to accept the "okay enough" clothes, and sizing and trying out stuff is tiring. It is life saver for those who really need to buy clothes though.
1:29 they buy those stuffs for one time use when visiting cold countries. Instead of them buying a brand new which is quite expensive. They prefer buying from ukay-ukay 1:29
You should visit isetan mall in recto it is near quiapo. There are a lot of ukay ukay stores in the upper level of the mall and has a cheaper prices too!
have you tried travelling up north like sagada or maligcong or batad? weather is awesome and best time to travel is nov-dec. or sa south sa Bicol like catanduanes or sorsogon. gorgeous uncrowded beaches. those are some of my fave places when i travel solo.
i think there are two types of ukay ukay ... selected ukay ukay is expensive since they selected the best one its like in korea you worked of... then there is the random ukay ukay they are more cheaper but you have find it yourself in the random pile of clothes it like a treasure hunt.... if you see many people its probly a random pick ukay ukay.... in stalls are selected ones
That thick jackets, which aren’t commonly found in local markets in the Philippines, are often intended for Overseas Filipino Workers and travelers heading to colder climates. It’s a practical need rather than something unusual.
I've watched a lot of your videos and I noticed you really like our streetfoods! 😋 but be careful sometimes you might get hepatitis or some kind of bacteria by eating too much streetfoods
some points in this vid, i find myself agreeing with you, nasasabi ko "ayan maganda yan!" as if i'm with you lol i think we kinda have the same taste in clothing :)
New subscriber here! I just finished watching all your videos. I really love your vlogs and hope you upload more soon! P.S. you should also try thrifting in Tagaytay and Cavite (mostly around Imus and Silang)

Hello There🇵🇭new subscriber here!
Yo! Present!
What's your skincare routine?
Just a random question, what's your haircut called? I also wanna try that haircut 😅
hello :) probably layered haircut.. I had that haircut a year ago and trim my hair by myself after that!
YAAY! 🎉
Oh.....what...?!!! ...Thank you so much!!
They buy those jackets when they go abroad, especially in countries with a winter season, rather than buying them later when they're expensive.
Ang cute mo naman ate
What camera are you using
gopro 9 po but not the best option... dji products are better I guess..
Nice vlogging!
Thank you! 😊
Same with pants. I look what kind of cut it is first 😂
let's go seohee
ano po tawag sa haircut mo? 😊
the people who buy jackets are probably those OFWs who are about to go to countries with winter.

I love you soeheeee ❤
