I can remember as a 10 year old, with my family, watching on a Sunday night John's first ever appearance on TV, Kevin Dennis New Faces, singing this song (by himself with only guitar). My recollections was he was a farmer who had come from NSW to Melbourne to appear. As we watched this show every Sunday evening, it was obvious this was a stand-out performance, and I'm pretty sure he not only won that night, but was also offered a recording contract by the judge Ron Tudor while he was critiquing his performance! The record was a top 5 hit Australia-wide not much longer!
