Penn, who was with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the bunker of the presidential palace on the evening of Russia's invasion, describes how the president changed that day. The war in Ukraine should have never become a political debate besides oversight of the funds. Just like we are all Americans, we are also all human beings. Just worry about do the right thing and stop attacking people for being leftist or too right wing. Its okay for us not to agree with each other but there is no reason not to listen and understand each other. It's sad that the politics of Washington have filtered down to local communities and have distanced family members from one another. Its sad that some of these politicians can say the most obsurd and false statements and people applaud just because of the "us versus them" mentality. We are all Americans with all kinds of backgrounds and beliefs that only want happiness for each other. So why do we go in public and on these comments and act like we hate each other? We dont have to act like the people who lead us or want to lead us. Its okay to change your mind as well. Its okay to take down that flag that says a mans name and put back up that American flag. And its okay to support that country who are not just fighting for land. They are not just fighting for freedom. They are fighting for the right to live. If there is so much that is dividing us, I cant think of anything better to unite us than this. I think we would be much better off if we just listened and talked to each other and turned off all the news media channels and the politicians who are clearly just saying anything for attention.

Zelenskiy defeated Poroshenko in the 2018 elections with 75% support from Ukrainians, promising to restore peace in the Donbas by any means and restore good relations with Russia, his main economic partner. At the time of the election, more than 50% of Ukrainians were in favor of restoring good relations with Russia. In many cities of Ukraine, Ukrainians supported the Russian national football team at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. And now, after 3 months, the policy of Zelensky, who has been on visits to many Western countries, is changing dramatically. And everyone's favorite humorist Zelensky gradually turns into Porosheko over the course of the year. Why ? Because both Poroshenko and Zelensky are most worried about their offshore accounts and are afraid of nationalists. In January 2022, under pressure from the United States and Britain, Zelensky escalated and moved troops to the line of demarcation with Donbass, as well as multiple launch rocket systems and large-caliber artillery (which is expressly prohibited by the Minsk agreements). Russia also pulled its troops to the Ukrainian border. Biden, Boris, and the Western media raised the cry for a Russian invasion precisely on the basis of what had been scripted ahead of time for Zelensky. Zelensky had to initiate an escalation of the conflict, at first he avoided it, then he was forced and the Ukrainian army began intensive shelling of the Donetsk and Lugansk republics. Residents of Donbass found themselves again in 2014, when there were numerous casualties among the civilian population. It was the Ukrainian army, stuffed with Western weapons and instigated by the West, that unleashed the conflict. Of course, Russia was forced to react.
And Russia responded. But it is just as important to know that Russia did not attack suddenly, as they shout in the West. Putin has given a clear signal to the West and especially to Ukraine. On February 22, considering the “Minsk Agreements” to be completely trampled by Ukraine and the West, Putin signed a decree recognizing the independence of the Donbass republics and at the same time signed an agreement on mutual military assistance with new states on the principle of a NATO agreement. It was a thick red line and a 100% signal that your performances are over and Russia has cut off the way back. And what did Biden or someone else in the West do, someone said stop to Zelensky ???? No . They probably said go for it. Because there have never been such mass shelling of residential buildings in the entire history of the conflict, as it was on February 22, 23. Yes, and Russia did not stand aside, but fulfilled its obligations to the republics of Donbass. The West had a chance to resolve the issue peacefully, but the West trampled on it.From the very beginning, the United States and Great Britain aspired to this scenario in order to accuse Russia of aggression and the imposition of sanctions. At the same time, what will happen to Ukraine does not concern them. The enemy has taken place, now US and GB will unite the collective West and tear Europe away from Russia.
And also to blame on Russia all the economic and energy problems caused by the so-called "Green Deal", underfunding of traditional energy in the West, helicopter post-covid money printed in 4-6 trillion in the US and the EU, torpedoing in EU by the Poles and the British under the dictation of the United States back in the 2010-15s of a long-term 10-20 year old gas contracts (linked to the price of oil) with Russia and the transition of most contracts to short-term speculative contracts ,which has largely dispersed gas prices today. Western politicians will attribute all these failures to problems that happened because of Russia.
P S. Sorry, I have to make some clarifications, I wrote this in March 2022 out of emotions from the total Russophobia that arose in the West, but all the facts are genuine. But I did not mention the situation with Crimea and the coup in Ukraine, since this is a separate big story.

Great reply. Here's mine.... Penn apparently knows nothing or choses to ignore the 8 years of Kiev bombing its own citizens in the Donbass region which killed over 10k people. He choses to ignore the aggressive history of NATO creeping up to Russia's border. It's delusional thinking like Penn's that will get us into WW3. If Penn really cared about the Ukrainian people he would be working for peace and realistic negotiations and not making statements like melting down his Oscars to make bullets to shoot at Russians. If you want to watch a movie that digs deep into Ukraine history without the propaganda and lies you see on mainstream media like this station then watch Oliver Stone's "Ukraine on Fire". If you want to listen to one of the most experienced war veterans who stations like this will never have on then check Col Douglas McGregor on UA-cam.
