About 25 years ago this happened to my father while he and my mother traveled to their honeymoon on American. The flight attendant smelled weed and assumed it was my father because he was a black man, in overalls, and in the bathroom (bad case of diarrhea) too long. They used the key to open the bathroom door while he was on the toilet and had cops waiting for him at the airport. American Airlines is the worst. I flew with them for the last time in 2022 and encountered some of the nastiest and unprofessional workers from reservations to the cabin crew. You cant even ask some of the employees a question without getting a rude response.
The truth is that black man or people have a stronger odor than most regular people, specially when they sweat or don't shower! and that doesn't have anything to do with racist, for example you have some people from India or Pakistan, they have a stronger order and a bad odor because they do eat a lot of things with onions so it doesn't make it racist when you're taking someone out of a room because they have a stronger older than other people and others cannot bear that smell and that goes even with white/caucasian people if they don't shower or in some cases their body produce more sweat they have a stinky odor so let's stop playing the racist card it's nothing like that, black, indian and some Pakistan people have a stronger odor simple as that! Now are we obligated to stand in the same room/ work space/elevator with someone who has a really bad odor and afraid to speak up because if we do we be labeled as racist or something else now we have to be careful with these cases because they can be intentional provoked by The Host to maybe get a lawsuit get a lawsuit out of him and this is where measurements and instructions and restrictions need to be apply and taken for example if a person takes medication to control their odor and they are about to go to work or take a flight for example they are obligated and required to have taken their medication and also regular people that don't have a stronger odor smell must of taken a showed hours before boarding the plane and have a notice before boarding a plane daddy by any means you smell weird you will be taken off the plane. So people put your perfume after you get off the plane.
So all of the black men were removed from the flight? They didn't know one another and were seated throughout the plane YET they were the only ones removed and ultimately returned to the same flight all because ONE flight attendant not other attendants or passengers had them removed. So what did the flight attendant do when the gentlemen returned? American Airlines for allowing this you should be penalized and constantly reminded of this blatant discrimination. Not only should these men sue but every passenger that was inconvenienced by this inexcusable act initiated by who I hope is a former flight attendant unable to work in that field anymore for any airline would serve as justice.
The problem with ‘the other side of the story’ is that there is NO imaginable legitimate explanation. Facts are they removed, then reseated all the black men off the plane. Like how did no one stop this… all these people involved and no one thought that this might end in a lawsuit? This is on par when the police left the lady on the train tracks. There are people who will argue that even that is not racist. One of those sorts lived in the same neighborhood as me. Glad he moved.
Whole west is under attack internally from Blacks n Mouslims and externally from Russia n China
Poor Ww2 soliders wasted their life
Folks would still make excuses, like: "Maybe he was trying to keep warm by burning the cross!"

@@zeeechanged5352so correct
They are the worst airline ever. I will never fly them!
Why?
This could happen everywhere sadly….
They truly are, and I have experienced them
About 25 years ago this happened to my father while he and my mother traveled to their honeymoon on American. The flight attendant smelled weed and assumed it was my father because he was a black man, in overalls, and in the bathroom (bad case of diarrhea) too long. They used the key to open the bathroom door while he was on the toilet and had cops waiting for him at the airport. He attempted to sue but because the incident happened while in air, they could not identify the jurisdiction of the crime.
They aren’t the worse but the worse of the major airlines. Spirit and frontier hands down worst
At first I thought well, it's not discrimination if you have BO, but when they said eight black men, not traveling together, not seated near each other and who don't know each other, I thought what clowns are in charge there? This is a huge black eye (pardon the phrase) for American airlines!
I agree but what is suspicious to me is 3 at least have the same lawyer? What are those odds? And the gate agent a black female agrees it was over color of skin also needs to be investigated for stirring this pot, she as an AA employee just confirmed the lawsuit. She could of went non-committal as she was not the flight attendant who initiated this. NAACP I dont trust as they love to stir controversy. Good luck gentlemen.
Same thing! I'm an airline pilot... a black airline pilot. I've had to deal with "smelly" passengers before but in this situation, at first I thought like you, one or two people, it's not discrimination, but eight people who don't know each other and all seated in separate parts of the airplane and they all happen to be black?
Naw, that's flat out discrimination. We have protocols to deal with these situations and if I were on board and heard this, I would've questioned the flight attendant before going that length.

Perhaps the smell was suspected gunpowder, or sulphur , maybe they all use a chemically smell item, I bought a shampoo once that smelled like it burnt plastic. Maybe the airlines would rather be thought racist than alarm everyone of heightened threats.
I think they said a flight attendant.
A white male flight attendant. This is awful. Embarrassing!
He was smelling his own self forget to wash his backside.
As a flight attendant, I’ve encountered passengers with horrible personal hygiene and bad body odor. It’s very unpleasant and uncomfortable especially on a long flight like this one from Phx to Nyc
I usually just wear a mask during the flight and offer mask to passengers. If the smell is extremely offensive then I will ask the flight deck to cool down the cabin and I’ll spray air fresheners periodically

The statistical probability of this not being racism is astronomical. The CEO has to go
And the flight attendant should lose his job!
NO EXCEPTION
Our constant degradation is outrageous. We are productive citizens as well. This is an outrage!
Too much power in the hands of some small people. The flight attendant's complaint was absurd from the start.
make it make sense….if Not this is really Bad Look on American Airlines
and this is why nobody flies american airlines
How does NONE of the staff stop this? I can’t imagine what it is but there has to be more going on…
WTF!!!
