  • Some of you might know that I was on this little show called Making It on NBC? Every year, my little town had a street festival called "Beachcomber's Day". This year it happens to land on the Forth of July weekend. Because of the pandemic, we weren't even sure it was gonna happen. Well, our town did it and pulled through a very sucessful festival, with a parade, vendors, car show, lumberjack competition, beer garden and so on, ending with fireworks and music and fire dancing!
I decided to throw together a little float playing the "local celebrity" icon and join in on the parade fun. This simple little float took a couple of days to put together here and there. It is a tiny replica of my small little shop, emphasizing the fact that I was on a tv show!! What a fun day we had! Since time was of the essence, I didn't always have the camera set up, or hit the record button, but here is a little glimpse of what I went through putting a 7'x8' flat trailer into a award winning parade float. Enjoy!
Thanks to Andrew / travel2nv for driving the float
    and
My son Alex / @ithinkimanerd1042 for helping build the float and tossing candy to the kids!
    Thanks for watching!!

You were one of my top picked to win making it!!! So friggin disappointing that the judges didn't see the immense talents that is you.
I for one, greatly appreciated your Lief Erickson mantle piece! And the judges that didn't obviously recognize it really do need more Viking history lessons!!! I love your instagram content too. Thank you for remaining so true to you, and for continuing to share your gifts with humanity.

Thank you so much for your amazing words! I also feel like it was the wrong time for me to go home as well, but it was not up not me. I did my best for the time allotted and my fate was in the judges hands (even though they might not know what they are talking about). 😊
Thank you for your support. If you are interested in following any of my mural work, I have a UA-cam channel and a Facebook page called Kraken Studios. I don't post as often as I like, but I'm trying to change that.

Nice work Garry but I can't believe you didn't put a beard as the bottom trim to the float 😀

I was pulling for you to win the Making It show, sorry. But it was cool to see you make some awesome Makes. Loved the Leif Erikson Fireplace.

Thank you so much! I loved my Holiday Mantle and was so disappointed going home on my family's Norwegian heritage, Leif Erikson Day! Oh well, it was amazing to be on the show and make it as far as I did! Thanks for the support!

Honestly its a super cute idea and really well done. I can't imagine how much better it would have been with more time and resources! Great work as always.

Ha...thanks Nolan. You are absolutely right. I would love to have more time AND resources one day to do this right!
