Wow, that's such a cool idea about the fresh manure! Do you think that would be good for a rosemary too? I just planted out my special rosemary I got in Italy, but I'm in Switzerland and it can get quite cold up here. Reason I planted it out is cuz I think plants are ultimately happier in the ground, and also it is too big for me to handle anymore in a pot.

Very interesting and useful info. I have both types and actually thought I had lost my deciduous one, it has never actually flowered for me. My fault for putting in a really big pot, anyway first year I put it in the garage and it was ok, last year I forgot, it got soaking wet and frosty and mushy. This year we decided just to cut it in half and see what happens and now we have 2 plants that started growing again maybe with a bit of luck it will flower next year. I then bought an evergreen a few months ago in the sale. So I am thinking I will just put them all in the garage and hopefully they will be ok. I also have no light ie window in there so just see what happens.

Thank you. Much appreciated. All mine are going in a quite dark garage too. Mark

Mark, I have about 15 agapanthus in pots and I plan to put them in the garage to ensure that they are frost free but the garage has no windows so will they be OK in the dark or should in just put them there when a frost is expected?

Hi Galina, are they evergreen or not? If they are not evergreen I would not worry at all. If they are evergreen they are less hardy, so I feel the least worst option is the garage and expect them to lose a little colour and possibly wilt. I would still move them. Mark

Thanks Mark, there is a mixture of both I think, got 1 really large one which is still flowering and that is currently in the conservatory regards Glyn (the other half of the pairing)

You mentioned 'Globemaster'. Is there an agapanthus of that name ? Or are you thinking of the allium ?

You are probably right. It was what spring to mind whilst I was talking but I suspect it is indeed an album, thanks. Mark
