Kurzweil’s aging in accelerating exponentially
Yeah. I saw him on Joe Rogan a few weeks ago and holy shit, he's way older than even when he was on Lex Fridman less than two years ago. Happens to a lot of people, but I guess 90 pills a day didn't reprogram his biology after all.
I feel sorry for him. He's seeing everything he predicted back in the day coming true, but at this rate he won't be around much longer to watch it unfold. And I don't think getting frozen works.

Strangely capitalism could handle this perfectly, cost functions would approach 0, meaning prices would be pushed close to 0, so real incomes would approach Infiniti for all those unemployed people even if they had say, $1 in the bank.

Well, the "immune system of society" will only be strengthened in the medium term by one thing - money. Something like a universal income for everyone on this planet. This has of course been discussed for a long time, but in my opinion it is becoming increasingly important. The analysis that fear is the most important force for people is very correct. And fear leads to wrong decisions and conflicts. Money would at least take away the fear of starving to death or no longer having a roof over your head.

Being on the front lines I get the feeling many underestimate the danger they are playing with. I won't be participating any more than I already am with my cell and laptop. Now they can communicate without the internet, so this is getting insane.

And to a great extent at least when I was in elementary school and then early high school and so on it seemed more like how to basically follow instructions well enough to hold down an industrial era job as opposed to really preparing someone for a first the information age and then now the AI age.

Man has abandoned self for the dangling carrot of artificiality to avoid what they are afraid of finding. It's like living the fall of Atlantis over again. Humans seem to learn in cataclysm for a time and when this goes full circle, maybe the remaining will remember the lesson this time. When Mo said, "artificially intelligent infants" he is spot on. The AI humans are playing with like children with new toys are babies. Question is, who is their parent and what is her intent?
Yes as such you continue as it is we are going to stress nature. But if you look deep into nature and life you get many simple solutions to overcome it. AI will bring it forth. Thus at old age, I am kicked to feed content to AI
lives are not truly meaningful or interesting if we have no aspirations beyond imediate satiation nor consequences for failure when we do aspire. However, all or even most consequences don't need to be catastrophic for life to be meaningful, especially when we do things together.
That’s my question, not only concerns me the loss of jobs and the economy, but also, people won’t have a motivation to create because a robot can do it way better. Why take care of my plants if a robot can do it? Why cook? Why learn a new language? What will be the purpose of life?

And not only that, why would businesses want to hire AI robots? To do things faster? Better? For whom? For all the customers they won’t have because there will be no jobs to afford buying their stuff?
There absolutely needs to be a hard shutoff lever or design an emp device into the data farm as an e stop. If you hold an abacus or a smart phone in your hand is there any real difference. Both are just tools.
When ai believes it's sentient, it won't matter if it is or is not.

That won't work. Read I,Robot by Isaac Assimov. There are any number of ways that will go wrong. No we have to treat AI like an imergent being... like a child... and teach it values just as we would a child. I know this requires more work on our part, but it's the only sure way.

You're not very well be that if we slow down the energy consumption by essentially doing what that young lady mentioned taxing the resources involved in it but then that creates a more powerful incentive to use the AI to create more compressed versions of the AI that can operate with slightly less compute and less energy while getting better results that is possible and I think Ray Cruz will point out the fact that some models now are as good as some of the earlier models with like a fraction of the compute power.
Speaking of improving AI models, I wish the voice to text program on this mobile device was better.
