circa 1996, Los Angeles, House Of Blues. i had jUSt arrived to L.A. from Hawai’i, and i heard *ᵗʰᵉSkatalites* were performing. So, i showed up, stepped right into the HOB backstage elevator, up to the green room, and WALLAH! Enjoyed the roots rock ska from stage and got to meet sweet music fam. True Jamaican music will never die. It's timeless and immortal. As a white American our current music is shit.I prefer everything from Desmond Dekker to Elephant Man and beyond.
Classical Hits that’s brought Jamaica’s music to top of Heap. Rolando Alphonso. Lloyd Knibbs. Tommy Mc Cook. Don Drummonds Baba Brooks. Jackie Mitto. The great Barbadian. (Push hood in Fire) .
hi, originaly no, he might have play for them as they stand more than 40 years touring with still original drummer Lloydd Knibbs and saxo Lester Sterling lately. Beside the story of the Skatalites is very rich, personal stories are often very sad (Don Drummond, Tommy Mac Cook...) but their music inspired so many bands in so many ways. They must receive the highest respect reserved for greatest musicians up there. Peace and Respect.
Words for what! The Skatalites is simply Sublime! Very grateful 🙏
