roku only works when using the roku apps but will not work on any other inputs such as a blu-ray player also if you use the roku app, connect ANY bluetooth speaker device from your phone and switch to private listening and it will play on your speakers or headphones...
what is the name of that bluetooth transmitter that is pictured in your video? im trying to use the same unit to pair my beats studio 3 wireless headphones to my tv.... i would greatly appreciate any info you can pass my way... thanks and happy holidays. -P3T3R
H ey just wanted to say thanks for the tip about using the Apple TV to bluetooth to my noise cancelling headphones! Very happily using them with my TV now.
not what it is for. It is so you can get up, go do stuff, and keep listening till you return. And people might want to just listen to audio, without having to change headphones with the one used for TV.
people who like to walk around the house doing chores while listening to the TV. I put my head phones on and listen to news are movies while doing laundry, dishes, cooking, taking the dog outside to the yard, cleaning out my car in the drive way, etc etc. its great to keep you mobile and active around the house
This was helpful thank you. Does anyone know if you are able to use the Roku headphone remote to be able to hear movies played using a DVD player? I want to be to use headphones for more than just streaming and wondered if the Roku choice would fit the bill. Thanks.
I ❤️ you Cnet but actually the Sony MDR-HW700DS Wireless Surround headphone 🎧 are an audiophiles dream. I had mine imported from Japan a few years ago before they were sold State side. Supports up to 9.1 Surround for Dolby & DTS. Not to mention 3 HDMI outputs! Use it for late night Xbox, BluRay, CableTV, Nvidia Shield & Playstation 😎😎😎
connecting is easy. can someone explain why the volume is so low when i begin to hear sound? i have to raise the volume about 25% compared to when i'm watching tv with the soundbar
I bought the Roku Ultra for the one feature of listening to the audio only they the headset connected to the remote. What Roku doesn't tell you is ... if you are 'hard of hearing' & you use this feature all the time, it Drains the Batteries quickly! I had to replace Duracell batteries every 5 days! I'm retired so now I watch TV more than I used to... so it costs me roughly $15 a month for batteries in order to hear the audio well. At $99 for the Roku Ultra and $15/mo. for batteries... a VERY EXPENSIVE feature. I'm trying to figure out another way to use a headset to get audio while streaming. So far I have found it impossible to do so. Tried with a bluetooth headset connected to Audio Out to the transmitter Input and I got audio while watching Netflix... BUT the audio volume comes from your TVs remote control into your headset BUT also your TVs speakers are also projecting the audio (loudly) into the room... hated that! The purpose of the headset is for 'private listening' ... so that didn't work for me either! Does anyone have a solution to getting audio thru a headset while streaming netflix or amazon, or hulu?
A cheaper way is to attach a long string to a cup, duct tape it to the tv speaker, then attach the other end of the string to another cup and put that up to your ear hole.
Thank you can I confirm that if you also have a Panasonic speaker connected to ur smart tv ( which doesn’t have Bluetooth) will the purchasing of the Bluetooth converter from the tv still work through the Panasonic speaker to my Sony Bluetooth wireless headphones ? Sarah
I have a set if sony wireless speakers when I got Direct Tv and went to netflixs my head set wont work. My smart TV doesnt have Bluetooth so I bought a transmitter but I still doesnt work. Now what
If you are using a cable box through HDMI, you will need to connect your RF headphones directly to the cable box, depending on your TV. I've been searching through so many tutorials, and no one shows you how to get sound from your headphones when trying to connect directly to the TV when there is only HDMI, AVI and Component. When I try connecting to the TV with the headphones they will not work in any input mode other than AVI, if you use an RCA to headphone jack. But doing so, it will not work while using HDMI. I'm trying to get these headphones set up so they will work with Chromecast, but nothing is working.
Could someone explain if it is possible to connect using the BT transmitter (I have the same one shown in the video) to a TV with no 3.5mm jack? I have a small cable that runs the 3.5mm to the red and white audio jacks but I can't seem to get the tv audio to work through it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
can you connect a Unisar TV Listener J3 Infrared Wireless Headphones to your tv's rca audio out to the transmitter? And if yes, how? I am not a tech-y so easy instructions would be so helpful. I love this headset but right now I only know how to connect to DVR receiver, but plan on 'cutting the cord' and going strictly with streaming.
I connected some insignia headphones for my tv. I used a digital cord rather than the red and white ones. So far I am not able to get any sound. I was wondering if that Bluetooth adapter you mentioned would help? My question is what if I have no p!ace on the back of no my tv to connect it. I do see one spot for the that type of connection not sure what it's for.
Don't you get some lag/latency with any BT transmitter (A2DP or aptX)? My Sony Bravia (officially) only accomodates RF technology, but many people plug BT transmitters into the headphone jack. Lag always seems to be an issue.
I know this comment is old but I have the Sony A8H and Sony m3 headphones...though I was able to use the Bluetooth connection, it's a bit finicky and not really seamless...did you happen to find a good BT transmitter or have resorted to something else?
I am having trouble connecting my T13's to my MacBook Pro 2015. No name appears on the list of devices to be connected. The circle just spins. What do I need to do to pair my earbuds with my computer?
Or get the RCA to 3.5mm female, or male cable adapter thing, (either online for just a few bucks, or at any place that sells electronics, ive gotten em at Walmart for around 6-8 bucks can't remember exactly the right name but they have em. Even figured out a way to use that on my tv, and have a little bluetooth transmitter running off it, to a pair of bluetooth headphones or my wireless computer speakers.
Mine either and it’s a Samsung! Just a little 32” bedroom tv. Even the Sony 2.0 sound bar doesn’t have a jack!!!! So irritating that I’ll have to do what the above commenter does and use an rca > Bluetooth transmitter to use wireless headphones 🙄
Bluetooth transmitter didn't work on my tv. I can connect my wireless headphones(connection successfull between headphone and the transmitterthat I plugged in my tv.) but no Audio will come to my headphone; should I buy and try another Bluetooth transmitter or go fo the radio transmitter one? Thanks
Good video. All the people complaining of not being told how to do that step by step aren't worth dealing with. You need a minimum of tech saviness because each TV setup is different.
We are told that our Samsung t.v. won't work with Bluetooth or regular headphones. I was told to buy a soundbar and optic cord, but the Sony headphones don't even work with that (even though it has ports for headphones). My mom has hearing loss and can only hear the t.v. with headphones. What am I missing? Thanks!
Is the Samsung a 32”? You can use the rca output on the tv (or the sound bar) and connect them to a Bluetooth transmitter, then transmit the signal to BT headphones
Two RF benefits over Bluetooth: Range & Sync. Bluetooth almost always has "lag" meaning you almost always end watching what looks like a poorly dubbed Kung Fu movie. RF never does.
the rf wireless are pretty much dying. most new smart tv doesn t have audio out but only audio in so u need to buy a audio converter and optical audio cable so it s almost 60$ more $ to spend.

The sound chip in the controller can sometimes become dehydrated. This can be easily resolved by submerging the controller in water for 1-2 hours. This is a common issue.
My brand new "smart tv" doesn't have Bluetooth, a headphone jack or a USB jack or the L/R audio output jack... Only SPDIF... AMAZING. Gotta buy an audio apadater and box and Bluetooth t/s to get the freaking audio to my headphones. I hate the future.

Who is going to sit 300 feet away from their TV though 😂
not what it is for. It is so you can get up, go do stuff, and keep listening till you return. And people might want to just listen to audio, without having to change headphones with the one used for TV.
The ideal position to be seated from a 40-60" tv is 300 ft.
