Wow. I could listen to Ed talk all day. You can tell he's passionate about what hes doing.
alyssa martin Thanks Alyssa!
Yeah, my only problem is he is highly educated in biology and what he is talking about is physics, trading velocity for volume and all that. That being said it looks like he came up with some clever engineering.
Super interesting, who else is loving this pond build so far!
RaiseTheRuth Thanks for your support!
me
I could listen to Ed geek out all day. Thanks Kenan!
ɾǝɹǝɯʎ ɥ Thanks!!!
Ed seems like such an awesome guy to learn from. You can really tell how passionate he is about the science behind on how their ponds work.
Jerrod Thanks Jerrod!
I've seen Ed on several other UA-cam pond builds for other channels, this is the first time I've heard this guy go into depth regarding the science behind filtration. You can tell how excited he was to be able to use scientific vocabulary and talk with a UA-camr that was capable of understanding what he was saying. As soon as Kenan goes off about tardigrades, Ed then drops the scientific hammer.
Looks like Kenan is going to hit 1m subscribers before the end of the year. I remember it was a goal last year, but this year seems extremely likely. Been here since 30k. Never change Kenan!
I always love listening to Ed from Aquascape and this was one of the best discussions with him! Thank you so much.
Cathleen Baldwin Maggi Thanks for your support!
Awesome stuff got some great ideas from this video! 💪🏽
Cool dude:) I’m so excited to see what it becomes over here!
Kamp Kenan it’s going to be awesome!
Awww Kenan, you respond to Blake and don't even toss me a like on my comment. It's all good dude, I am not a UA-camr personality. And if I had feelings they might be hurt....LOL this rec pond is going to be beautiful.
Lets get a blake and kamp kenan episode!!
I want this person to do all this stuff
Dude that's awesome! I knew wetlands were far more valuable than most people give them credit for, but that even blew ME away! Ed is doing some seriously amazing things! That wetland filter idea is just beyond amazing, and can really teach people about how useful some of the maybe even less beautiful parts of our world really are. Stay awesome Kenan, and Ed and crew you guys are amazing!
Shawn Horton Thanks Shawn!
Oh my goodness. I LOVE this. I just completed my Master's in marine resources and coastal habitats. This video covers so many of the things that I learned in my classes and research. Absolutely plan on sharing this episode with some of the professors and colleagues. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
Any update on the sanctuary? Loving these videos I’ve gotten more than what I came for. I love learning about things I have no idea about. Even if I just retain 10% that’s a success for me. Originally I wanted to be less afraid of snakes but you’ve opened my eyes up to a whole other life that includes reptiles and animals into our way of living. I think my irrational fears come from movies and shows and you are helping demystify so much. The work you put in is very genuine it’s so great to learn from someone who truly cares about the animals. Thank you Kenan for all that you do
this is amazing, the fact that you are going to have that in your backyard is pure bliss.
Wow, that was so interesting I love how educational that was. I've been watching Greg and Ed for a bit too, but I'm not sure if I've ever really heard Ed get that detailed into it. I just love this I cannot wait until I can finally get a pond and get my yard together the way I really want it. It's so inspiring to watch stuff like this and get excited again about habitats like this. 👍❤️
My E'klectic Life Thanks for your support!
@@edbeaulieu5916 you're amazing! And you do absolutely fantastic work/art!
My E'klectic Life Thank you!
Love this! Excellent Biology lesson there Ed! This pond is going to be epic! Looking forward seeing the rest of the build, and can't wait to see the finished pond and watch it evolve over the next year into a lush, mature, ecosystem. Great stuff!!!! ❤
Mary Vallas Thanks Mary!
This is such a massive & beautiful upgrade to your home! That filtration system is going to make beautiful rec pond. You take such excellent & loving care of your "family" human and other. Thank you for sharing some of your lives with us. Brings me great joy. Keep doing what you are doing!!!
I love this video ! I love knowing one went to college and is successful and another didn't and is also successful both are doing great things for environment in their own ways .👍
I love these natural pond/pools ! I also love the step by step and teaching that goes along with it .
Jane Irish Thanks Jane!
This was one of my favorite videos. Ed is an amazingly smart man.
The science of these ponds is so awesome. Thank you for sharing it with us.
As a biologist myself, I have to commend you and Ed for making the subject matter understandable for everyone. Many biology professionals are not capable of translating for the non-scientific person. Great jub. The pond is looking awesome!
Laurel Kish Thanks Laurel!
we love you guys in Australia because simple words use give a shit and that's what matters we have to care and have respect for each other not just the human race but everything that lives on earth only when we learn to respect everything then we will be truly one no more wars no more hate thank you ken for showing the world that its easy to care you my friend are truly a angel sent to teach educate and i thank you from down under

This may have been my favorite video so far! I'm a fish tank guy and this is getting my wheels spinning on how to use my tank filters differently.
This is so interesting! Please bring on some more of this kind of information!
You can tell he loves his job and what he does and creates from how animated he is explaining it
This is by far one of the most underrated UA-cam Channel I have ever seen.
Mr. Kenan is a character like the pond guy and Ed is more of a aquatic genius than ever!

This is pretty cool. I want to live in the woods in a cabin one day. It would be pretty cool with fresh air, stars in the skies and nature all around. I would buy a telescope to look and study the the planets. I'm interested in astronomy, history and nature btw.
Always great to see Ed explaining and getting his hands dirty :)

I love it when Ed talks science 🧬🧫 😍🥰
I wish I could give this video a thousand likes
Rakgadi Tumi Thanks for your support Rakgadi!
I’m majoring in Ecology so this video was such a treat to watch!
I’d like to see a salt water pond I think that would be awesome
Shmeebitdog G also impossible
Moa Vic why would it be impossible I’ve seen indoor salt water ponds here where I live only reason they are not out side is the weather gets to cold here
Shmeebitdog G
Water evaporation on such a large warm surface area means the salinity would change drastically. In fresh water this is less of a problem as you can just top it off and it’s fine but monitoring how saline it was would be very difficult and saltwater fish are less tolerant. They’d need more stable temperatures and water quality. Possible but a massive pain in the ass. There’s a big one in Florida but they just pump pure seawater in and then out again so they don’t need to worry with temperature or water quality
I would love a pond!!!
Wicked video kenan !
I would think the filter will work well mainly because you are in Florida and you have the sun in your favor ! Ive been raising fish and aquatic life my entire life and ive always told my interested freinds that the fun is. Trying to balance out the Eco system for each animal and the size of his/ her enviorment unlike you guys i never had any formal schooling In the area and many of my ideas and experiments were based on what. I like to call educated guess work LOL Can feel your excitement on building your own " natural" enviorment ! It is a very cool thing to do my last tank system was my largest. One yet and it was 1200 gallons of water And my challenge was i did the entire set up inside my living room ! It took around a year but i got it working quite well eventually
Craig Monteforte There are pros and cons to working in Florida, the intense heat reduces the dissolved oxygen levels in the water which can cause a shift in the water quality.
The long growing season will help with an abundance of aquatic vegetation.
Very cool
Kenan, THIS was fascinating! And I want to hear more from Ed about what we are and can do about our issues here in Florida. Is there any where he's done this or written about it or can you do a video interview where you can just talk about it. Is he working with any of the groups here in Florida? Like anything if people know about it, understand it, have the information, they tend it do something and act on it in small ways as well as bigger ways. This is so important right now and you've got a mini solution it seems right in your backyard...but how's that electric bill? Or is that the next project? 😉 Can't wait for the next video. 🌴🐢🐢
Pat S I’ve done work throughout the United States,I’ve been invited to speak at Green Infrastructure Conferences, Landscape Architecture groups, Municipal Engineer conferences, Etc.....
Including some articles in a variety of publications.
Ed, under the circumstances here in Florida, your information is interesting and helpful. What we're going through is reminding me of the issues we had on Long Island when we lost our clams...and fish. It seems like a lifetime ago and sad to see a repeat here.
Pat S This same story is being told around the world as pollutants are washed from the huge tracts of impervious surfaces(roofs, parking lots, roadways, etc....) into the surrounding water shed where they wreak havoc on the aquatic ecosystems.....
This is gonna be so epic! I am jealous! I want to do something large scale someday. It’s what I am working for!
Wow, that was super interesting!
Ed is so awesome!!!! That dude is the Real deal!!!
The Fishy Life ! Thanks!
@@edbeaulieu5916 Ed!!!! Keep up all the great work!!!!!
The Fishy Life ! Thanks for your support!
I’ll do what I can!
I’ve never understood why wetlands are so important or never really cared until I started watching Ed . He’s so awsome makes you understand an actually gets you excited an want to help every young school kid should take a lesson from Ed world would be a better place ... 👍🏽

You Rock!! Thank you for sharing!! I would totally like to interview you.
What it’s called is beautiful!!!!! 🌊🌱🌾🐚🐢🐸
Come summer time I’d love to show you the ponds that my grandfather built. There were 3 of them but I believe that he connected the middle one to the larger one a few years ago. But we live in Western New York and he dug all 3 out with his tractor ( I don’t remember what kind) when I was about 3 or 4 years old and I’m 44 now, on a 44 acre property. He sadly passed away almost 1 year ago now, but to my utter delight my parents are buying The Land. That’s what we (my whole family) call it “The Land” my grandparents had 8 girls ( no boys) 46 grandchildren and as it stands right now 48 great grandchildren ( but we’re still counting lol). You can see why it was so important to have such a large place to gather and grow. My grandma had a garden that was a half an acre large, it was awesome in it’s splendor!!!!!! I remember working it with her and her telling me how we were casting magic as we watered and weeded, fertilized and tended to the tender green things. She made it so magical and so fun. She had that special time with my son as well, because even though I knew I could give all of the same information to him, I couldn’t give him her unless I really gave her to him. As you can tell I miss them both so so much. But sharing them and the stories of them helps, and like I said as soon as it warms up ( it’s in the low teens here with about 6 inches of snow) I’d love to share some pictures with you on Instagram. And yes I’m already following you 😊☺️😊☺️
That sounds amazing! Share it with us on patreon, then everyone can see it on the KK Army:)
I will!!!! But like I said they wouldn’t be any time soon because everything is under about 6 inches of snow and ice right now. Not that I can’t get up there, but nothing is defined under the snow. It just all looks like well....... snow lol 😂
Thank you for replying by the way, I know you’re busy and my post wasn’t exactly short, so the fact that you even decided to read means much more than you know ☺️🤗🐸
Tardigrades! Sweeeet! Can't wait for the tardigrade episode. :)
