"rude crayon. Wait until you see Wilson's. It's.... confronting." lol
I could watch this all day.
What!?!? No signature "Scott Brown here"! But an excellent episode none-the-less.
I'm still in shock as well
Looks like Scott will need to release another video this week to make things right. It’s not a true Scott Brown unless there is a “Scott Brown here”.
Looks like you guys need to stop complaining
@@kadoffii looks like you’ve got no sense of humour
does that mean we can claim a refund?
Love watching Scott’s videos in the UK as the seasons change in opposite directions.
This is just about the chillest framing site I've ever seen. Gone is the mayhem of compressors and hundreds of feet of hoses, no sawdust all over the place. Wish we had a framing pre-fab company like this in Canada!
Coffee amd Scott Brown video is always a great start to the weekend
That’s the way to get the walls up but some of them looked real ball breakers Scott. Thanks for the latest exciting episode.👍👍
That can't be right. The frames you needed first were NOT on the bottom of the stack! And the plans were clear and easy to read! Weird.
I love the videos Scott I learn something every time. the videos are always interesting, well shot and edited
I’ve never heard of pre-made wall frames before, interesting to see how they work😊
Good day for you Scott, blessings for you 🙏.
Building with factory produced panels is so different from the US. He use factory built roof trusses and floors but not the walls. Some of those walls seemed very heavy. Great exercise!
There are companies in the US that build like this, they're called modular builders not to be confused with mobile.
I'm in the PNW and have a need for a builder in the next year or so and I'm finding a good number of them in my area.
Who else thought the "Square Space" ads about in when he said "Dead Square"??😂😂
Great to see how fast the framing went up. Not good for your backs!! 😎
Not sure who's having more fun, Scott or Wilson?😂
I assume that is a window above the sink at 6:40. Beautiful view, well done design.
never been first, this is amazing! already know im gonna love the video :)
You win this time 😉
I would have thought that they would have used a crane to set those prefab walls
When you getting Gaston back on the channel?
Wait, you left that chipboard flooring exposed for weeks? Why isn’t it a pulpy flakey mess?
Haven't had smoko in ages!
Use the pvc trick to move heavy things.
There are complaints in the media about houses overheating, and then you see large windows like that.
Got love the dog, do you know what breed? Question, I believe you answered in the past, why all the blocking in the walls? They have to be very heavy. Thank you and have a great an awesome week.
Love these building videos. What kind of slip on boots do you guys wear?
This video helped me make up my mind if I want to be a carpenter or not.
Like judging by how repeative the task is, look fun for the first week but after that? The creativity is gone.
Unless the wage is good, im not sure if carpentry is for me!
You can go into renovations or extensions if you want more challenging stuff, it can be as interesting as you make it.
@@stephanvg I always wanted to renovate a house. So I will look into it
What was the purpose of the hit canister? Is it a marking tool? Just curious.
Assume it's a depleted gas canister for a nail gun and they are just being conscientious and puncturing it before throwing it in the trash so it's not an explosion hazard if it ends up in an incinerator.
@@andy_rb ahhh, makes complete sense. Thanks for that!
can we have some books about NZ framing and houses in general. Sweden have a diff way of doing framing, and US also a diff way, curious about NZ
Same as a dentist: the discrepancy in the cavity. Minimum 40mm
Walls straight and square.
Studs and corners plumb.
✝️🌏
how much heavier is that treated lumber compared to kiln dried? those walls look heavy
Is the 4x rows of noggins/blocking typical for a residential wall or was it something the manufacturer does to keep everything together for transport?
Possibly for vertical shiplap cladding, if it’s only 20mm cavity batten needs solid fixing behind, or extra high wind zone
All NZ houses have noggins in the walls regardless of the cladding. We make sparkies and plumbers work for their money 😂
How long does it take to stand all frames and roof trusses?
Any advice for a 49.5 year old wanting to become a builder at a time when the sector and economy are struggling?
Be realistic about your physical abilities.
@@tweake7175 Good point. I have heard of people giving up building at this age because of the toll on their body.
Mind you, my current job is probably more physical, scrambling up and down step hillsides controlling weeds and planting trees. I also still play football and cricket.
Perhaps you should use the word "lanai" instead of "deck".
I have a question: Why are the walls in New Zealand so thin? Greetings from Germany where they start at 18 cm thickness. PS: Why don't you have a crane there? It makes things so much easier.
Most of the frames in nz are half that size, nz is quite a young country compared to Europe so our building code is not as refined. Being only 90mm frames means its is possible to lift without a crane, just a couple lads and visit to the chiropractor.
Have you seen the access to this site?
Or, why are walls in Germany so thick?
I have worked on jobs where we have used 140mm framing (as opposed to the usual 90mm) because the walls are higher, or because we want to be able to fit more insulation in.
Because we like to be cold, and cheap.
@@seanhamilton4175 That was my thinking also, but it would be interesting to hear from Scot. :)
Its a trapppppazoid
Why on earth wouldn't the building company rent a smaller crane to lift the heavy frames? You would work so much faster and save so much energy for work that actually requires skills, instead of lifting the frames with human power like stone age men (equipped with nail guns).
They often do. Usually just use a hihab on the truck.
Why does NZ framing have so much nogging? Lots of insulation space taken up by timber
Earthquakes are an issue, extra shear strength.
@@davidboyce6975 But then we don't use external sheathing like they do in the states.. US method of no nogs (better for insulation) and then external sheathing for shear strength seems better? More expensive, but overall better?? Perkins Builder Brothers is a good UA-cam channel
@@davidboyce6975no not for earthquakes, will be vertical cladding with non structural cavity batten, needs fixings 480mm on centre, , only need every 8-1200mm and can use 50x50, or 2"x2" , some frames have been designed now without noggings, with ridged air barrier, and if your using 45x45 structural cavity battens with vertical cladding, ( or strapping the inside to create service cavity.
Nz uses thinner gib and walls are often not sheathed. So you need nogs to hold the gib properly otherwise it looks like crap.
@@tweake7175 wrong again.
Are those yellow T shirts Health and Safety or just bad taste?
Fluorescent green. Typical colors for construction shirts are fluorescent green and bright orange. Usually can be purchased at a fair price.
OHAS - just has to be HiVis/day glow, you can get Hot Pink (marketed for women working on site) and red/orange as well (at least in Australia).
8:37 What was that? Bad battery?
Looked almost like a nail gun cartridge
It’s a gas cartridge, you do this or break the tip off so you don’t put a spent one back in the gun
it's one of them new paslode nail gun gas cannisters. Not sure why they blow it up like that tho.
I think they puncture it to release the last bit of gas before throwing it away to prevent them being an explosion risk if they end up in an incinerator.
