You are doing a nice job of explaining. However I’ve never done anything like this before so more close up of what your doing would help me and maybe others as well. Thanks again. Following closely.

Our Video Blog (blogs) series is intended more for entertainment, not really instructional purpose. We have a number of videos that go way more in depth into wiring including wiring up a 1966 (which is virtually identical to a 1967 other than the front turn signals and headlights), a 1969 and. 1971 Super Beetle. Hopefully one of those will in your restoration!

I do recommend jbugs for wire harnesses. Instructions were great for the kit for my 72 ghia. Went in great. And yes everyone needs silicon lubricant if you are working in an old VW.

Thanks Josh, if you got a "JBP" harness, I wrote those instructions and made the diagrams. It was a lot of work but I think they came out pretty good!

I think the hinge pins need to be punched out from the bottom because the top of the pin is larger. I've made that same mistake myself on my '72 Super.

From the bottom up is required on a lot of pins, especially earlier cars with a rounded top. This one came out, eventually!

So... fuse block up or down? What's your preference?

I can't say that I've ever heard of doing anything other than the stock placement of the fuse box. I'm not sure if you consider that up or down, so I'd have to say my preference is installing it just like VW did. The wiring and fuse box are set up that way so it just make's it easier.

I guess I'm thinking about a generic fuse block under the hood. I'll sit back down 😀@@Sam_Mebane
