The 800 blows a small path through a large pile of leaves. The 9010T picks up the whole pile and throws it for those who are wondering. The 800 is a nice ergonomic comfy blower though. Solution is to buy both. Use the 9010 for massive clean ups and the 800 for everything else.
Watched the entire video and I still dont know which one moves leaves or grass more effectively over a wide area. I do know which one to get if need to move a battery across a slick floor.
You will have to make that decision by yourself. We have provided you with some vital (and fun) insights. Use the data to find the best fit for yourself.
When you do the comfort test you should put on a jacket! We do the most (longest) backpack blowing in cooler weather. In my area (upstate NY) it can be cold in late November. You showed the winter switch on the Stihl which is for below 40°. I switched it over early November and will use mine several more weeks…with a jacket or a couple of flannel shirts. Big difference in comfort comparisons. I have the Echo and Sthil models you tested. *** otherwise great video.
Very good comparison video. I'm in Asia and have the Zenoah 8550, the exact same blower as the Redmax (Husky owns both). I manage a large property that has massive leaf fall, both deciduous leaves and Pine needles, the blower gets very heavy use which entails pretty much daily leaf blowing for at least three to four months each year (it can make you crazy). The blower, in it's second year now, has held up real well and does an excellent job. I really love the hip throttle, which was an option, managing the tube is very comfortable and simplistic without the throttle. It makes me wonder if guys putting down the hip throttle have ever tried it? The hip throttle is also very comfortable and works super well, and I like the balance of holding on to something in both hands. I also think it helps to stabilize the unit on your back. I found it essential to add both a chest and hip strap to the Zenoah to keep the blower more rigid on my back. I noticed that they still didn't add those straps on the 8560. It is a bit heavy blower, as the vid points out. I took the screen out of the muffler, not a problem in my neck of the woods, to maybe eek a tad more power from the engine and have it run cooler, if it is anything like on chainsaws. I've been wanting to experiment with a slightly narrower tip tube to give a more confined air blast, but haven't gotten around to making something up. The narrow handle under the air filter (it took about a month before I noticed it) is ok for moving the thing around, I wouldn't call it particularly comfortable though. A bit of a gas hog, but I think that comes with the territory.
Been using blowers commercially for the last 20 years... still using an Echo PB-650 after 17 years, and it's still my blower of choice. It's bombproof and comfortable. Been using Stihl BR600/700s for the last 10 years and hate them. They are light and powerful for sure, but terribly uncomfortable and unreliable- we're lucky to get 3 or 4 years out of a 600.
Have had an Echo PB410H for 17 years - had to put a new carb on it last season. I am looking to upgrade (maybe the 9010), but going on 66 years old and a little worried about how much longer I'll want to lug 30 Lbs. on my back and how long my shoulder will last ;). I have about a half acre to clear, but live in the middle of the woods. Over the fall I usually spend 40 Hrs doing my yard. Maybe it would go a lot faster with a bigger blower? Are these way more than I need?
Go to a dealer and strap one on. I did. I found the Echo was Wayyyyy too heavy. I felt it in my shoulders immediately. I later tried the Stihl, and the weight felt better, a difference of 4-5 pounds less. So...since I like my back, I'll go with the Stihl.
I guess for me unless im starting the blower from my back and can choke/unchoke with it like that than the auto choke doesnt matter. I have the 8010 with the auto choke and i start my blower on the rack then put it on the ground then put it on my back. I am watching these though because ive been interested in stihl for a while now. Ive owned many echo blowers and theyve all been pretty trouble free. I appreciate the accessibility of the carburetor and fuel tank fittings on the echo redmax and husky. I dont always have time to wait weeks for my dealer to fix my stuff or have the luxury of just buying another one to use as a stand in. For a few bucks i can get myself back up and running within a few minutes of working on them. I also agree the tube is stiff (huh huh) on the echo. The whole unit is heavy and it really wears you out after a full day of yards. I cant find a stihl in stock around here but interested in a 600 for daily use. Not to mention the fuel savings we saw in the fuel mpg video

I’ve got the Stihl blower and after awhile my neck and back start hurting! I have neck and back issues already so I’m sure it just aggravates the problem! Otherwise it’s very comfortable considering there’s a monkey on your back! I only use it fall and some in the spring! I’ll use it for about 3-4 random days in the fall and after the 3rd day I get use to the weight were after using it my back doesn’t hurt so much.
We're sorry about that experience Mark. In our experience, STIHL has been the most comfortable of all the blowers out there. It might not match up in power to some of the other brands, but comfort is definitely STIHL's forte. Maybe try getting a lighter version?

Yes the husky 580 and the Redmax 8550 is identical. Husky Owns Redmax. They bought them for there engines because they were the exact same pretty much. The 8550 is stronger overall and better though.

The 8010 kicks my over 6 ft arse, too. Got the power, straps are comfortable, but I dread swinging that damn bazooka back and forth during leaf season.
This is great info. We knew that the operators under 6ft were having issues with that tube. Good to know that even the taller guys are on the same page.
I'm 5'5" and demoed the 9010 from my Echo dealer. It felt like I was trying to swing an elephant trunk all day! Echo definitely needs to re-engineer the tube!
I own Husqvarna 350BT Blower Only issue I had with it Throttle Control Tube connection to flex tube kept falling off.. I solved that problem with 2 Tex Screw thru hose clamp hold tube assembly together ..! Otherwise Great BackPac Blower. Husqvarna $$ out - Red Max
I've had a Redmax EBZ 8500 for 10 years with the same back pad as the 8560. The back pad hasn't peeled or cracked or torn. I also have the Echo 9010T. I'm thinking of getting the Stihl BR800C just because.
@@mainstreetmower I would have to pick the 9010T. My back stays dry after using it for an hour or more in spring and summer. With other blowers my back is wet. The exhaust idle note is eargasmic. It moves large piles of leaves, gumballs and debris much easier than my Redmax. I still use the Redmax quite often. I like to put the Redmax 7500 tapered nozzle on it for the higher airspeed. It's still a very powerful blower and has been dependable. I want to get an 800C for the side start and ergonomics as I often have to stop the blower to chat with people.
@@brenthill5596 Great points there Brent. The back vent on the 9010T is genuinely an amazing feature that is unanimously appreciated in the industry. Thank you so much for sharing.

Since I'm 6'5" I would like to try it on as you mentioned it might be a bit small but we'll see. As I'm in Canada, the only wish I have is to be able to buy at American prices. Up here the Stihl is $979.99 and the Husky is $879.99, ouch!
The Redmax backpack blower is hands-down the best The back padding is phenomenal once you get six months into it you break it in and it gets softer so it molds to your back real nice and I’ve had my one blower from 2013 and now I have 2022 and there the best

Based on the 2 videos we did on all these blowers (practical testing & theoretical comfort) I think i would have to go with the STIHL. That being said, you should know that I do have a bias for STIHL products only because of how long they have lasted for me. If you were just talking about power, the echo might have the edge. However, if speed, productivity, comfort, & fuel efficiency - are the all the factors to be considered, I think STIHL has a big edge over competitors.

@@deitrakalyn5841 i tried the BR 800 X today at the Red Deer Stihl dealer and will try the Echo PR 9010 T on Monday. I’ll decide what is the best and suitable to our winter in our province of Alberta. As soon I get the unit, I’ll update you
@@deitrakalyn5841 went to Future AG red deer Echo dealer and test/ try the Echo PB-9010T i loved it. Ordered the Echo PB-9010T because of the power and 5 years warranty/ peace of mind. It’s suitable to our Alberta ❄️ winter. Update you again on Wednesday afternoon when I pick up my snow-leaf blower with pictures😊
@@mainstreetmower it’s not the blowers fault! I have neck and back issues! After The first time using it the following year is the worst.
Once I use it a few more times it’s not has bad! Probably using muscles I don’t use normally…lol
Yes the husky 580 and the Redmax 8550 is identical. Husky Owns Redmax. They bought them for there engines because they were the exact same pretty much. The 8550 is stronger overall and better though.
That's what we found as well.
BTW if you haven't yet checked out the video where we test these blowers against each other through various tests, here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/29MAsbTqaeo/v-deo.html
I’m a echo fan but I like competition too stihl needs to come out with a blower keep the mph they have with 800 but increase cfm but keep same weight that will rival echo 9010
We’d love to see it too
I don't usually blow batteries around just leaves and clippings. So I don't think that is going to help me with the decision making.
Just a visual, not a perfect test, we agree
I love the Echo PB 9010T but the damn tube is to long and a pitfa to use all day like carrying around a bazooka for us under 6ft guys.
The 8010 kicks my over 6 ft arse, too. Got the power, straps are comfortable, but I dread swinging that damn bazooka back and forth during leaf season.
@@tubby6339 Amen man
This is great info.
@@NewVisionLCS haha we're sorry about that. Which blower do you normally use?
I own Husqvarna 350BT Blower Only issue I had with it Throttle Control Tube connection to flex tube kept falling off.. I solved that problem with 2 Tex Screw thru hose clamp hold tube assembly together ..! Otherwise Great BackPac Blower.
Husqvarna $$ out - Red Max
I've had a Redmax EBZ 8500 for 10 years with the same back pad as the 8560. The back pad hasn't peeled or cracked or torn. I also have the Echo 9010T. I'm thinking of getting the Stihl BR800C just because.
Great lineup. Thank you for sharing.
Since you've used all the blowers from the video, would you mind telling us which one is your favorite and why?
Excellent in depth video. Thank you
We're glad you liked it. Which one is your favorite out of these?
@@mainstreetmower I watched part 1 and 2 and found them both extremely informative. I was looking at the Stihl and Husky and both videos really helped. Part 1 really showed the performance side and part 2 the useability. I found a used Husky that I'm going to look at tomorrow. Since I'm 6'5" I would like to try it on as you mentioned it might be a bit small but we'll see. As I'm in Canada, the only wish I have is to be able to buy at American prices. Up here the Stihl is $979.99 and the Husky is $879.99, ouch!
@@grantmurray2480 Wow, those prices are steep.
Now what blower would feel best on a kids back?
Check out Main Street Mower Kids channel for that. 😉
Sounds like the husqvarna for the win
We also did a field test of these blowers. See if the Husqvarna actually won in the field.
The Redmax backpack blower is hands-down the best The back padding is phenomenal once you get six months into it you break it in and it gets softer so it molds to your back real nice and I’ve had my one blower from 2013 and now I have 2022 and there the best
That's awesome. Thank you for sharing. But dont you think 6 months is a little too long to wait around for it to get comfortable?
I got the Stihl 800 just because of your review, I have a pretty small yard 😂.
Awesome! We're sure you're going to love it even if your yard is small.
Here's a fun idea of how we used those blowers. I have a feeling you will like it. ua-cam.com/video/O8zsvjdy3fk/v-deo.html
P.S. Do not try this at home haha 😉
Like I said UK got mK1 Husqvarna 580bts my one from 2015 Same as 2023 Model Friend in USA got that MK3 Version it 1000cfm & 47N & UK one 40N & 908cfm

the new backplate on the 9010t is TERRRIBLEEEEE just got mine and the bottom just DIGS into your back. im taking it back for a 580bts tomorrow
You can get a shoulder and hip belt as a option for your br600 700 or 800x l did great add on

I've got 10 acres of oak leaf so I want power but I'm not a fan of echo for getting parts .
Do have any past experience of getting parts for Echo?
@@mainstreetmower yes I have a couple echo saws and although I like some aspects of the echo line ive had much more trouble getting parts for them in my town. I'm not a 4 mix fan so unfortunately the stihl is out so I'm thinking maybe the Husky as I have a good dealer hear.
@@adambatchelder4121 That's great thank you for sharing. We always recommend going with the product that has the best dealer around you.
Great Video!!
Thanks for the visit.
Which backpack blower do you like the best like the best?
Based on the 2 videos we did on all these blowers (practical testing & theoretical comfort) I think i would have to go with the STIHL. That being said, you should know that I do have a bias for STIHL products only because of how long they have lasted for me.
If you were just talking about power, the echo might have the edge. However, if speed, productivity, comfort, & fuel efficiency - are the all the factors to be considered, I think STIHL has a big edge over competitors.
@@mainstreetmower based on the the reliability I would go with the still. Far less noisy compared to the 9010. and The Redmax ebz 8560 and 8550 .For reliability Br800x, Pb 9010t, Husquvarna 580bts. Redmax ebz 8560.
Absolutely. @@DawnJiang-kd6me
Redmax the only equipment i own and operate. trimmers and blowers are ninja-proof with the echo red armor oil, pro seafoam and marvel mystery oil. The two-smoke redmax reminds me of a Honda CR80R strapped to your back.
That's great insight. Thank you for sharing.
Redmax doesn’t have very comfortable straps stihl and echo have the best straps for comfortably
That's awesome. Thank you for sharing. We basically got the same results from our tests.
You must be a new blower owner or user which is fine people has to make money to promot a product. Go and try Echo PB9010T for yourself before you make judgment the power of Echo blowers will blow you away they invented the backpack blowers. That why they are taking over and is the Landscape maintenance favorite by far ... Stihl has long ways to go starting with Echo
the two year full warranty .👍👍👍
We actually tried them all for our performance comparison video. STIHL vs ECHO vs REDMAX vs HUSQVARNA. You could check out the video here: ua-cam.com/video/29MAsbTqaeo/v-deo.html
Red Max is a good blower I been using it for many year but the last 3 years the quality is junk .....and the vibration is annoying and get all the screws around loose

Also my 2016 redmax still looks about new and runs perfect.

I buy Echo 770 blower, 9010 no in Russia.
Great video Chip l don't think you can beat Stihl blowers 600 or 800 light weight and powerful we had carburetor problems with both but warranty covered the problems remember some companies charge you for carburetor problems Stihl doesn't 😁 take care my friend

Huskavarna and Redmax. Who is making them? Most people don't consider buying Husqvarna because they can't say the name correctly even though RedMax is owed by Husqvarna. The q is silent in Husqvarna. Huskavarna 😂
Interesting point. Thank you for sharing Clay.
@@mainstreetmower redmax is the build as if you lok at a 20 year old model they still look almost the same. and there is air being blown on you from the backrest as the red max has slits in the lower section of pad..
