Hey ckwraps, I have a 2018 ford f150 king ranch and I have the same door handles. There is a method to removing the door handle caps in only a couple of seconds. When you pull the handle away from the truck, look around the inside and you'll see the handle cap has 2 notches, 1 on the top and 1 on the bottom, on the end closest to the rear of the vehicle. You have to pry one of them out, and then use your hand to apply pressure out on whatever one you pop first (top or bottom, it doesn't matter). While you're holding that one out, grab the other side of the door handle and push the tab down and out and you'll have it off in seconds. I can send you some videos on how to easily disassemble some parts on the f-150's to make your life easier!
I went to 3M training and testing back in July and the only knifless tape we used was on top of the fender of an HHR. And it really wasnt a requirement kind of a suggestion.
I have a 2018 F-150 Platinum that I’m wanting to wrap the handles of. I was gonna do it myself…until I heard YOU say “this is very tricky….” Ummm…I think I’ll have a pro tackle them. Hahaha. Love your vids, btw!
I really commend you for the skill of wrapping vehicles. I will try to put some clear wrap on the bottom of the doors up to the seam on my 2018 Camaro SS. I don’t know why they only put a small piece of protective film by the rear wheels 🤔I have to remove the little piece and buff and polish it then apply the vinyl to the seam under the quarter panel. I actually might have a professional do it because I’m not familiar with the application. I see how difficult the door handle is your doing.Great job 👍🏻
hi I fellow installer here like your videos alot. Never done this piece but im guessing your first stretch should be more aggressive and then the sides will shrink with heat kinda like prestretch technique... edit: Great job as always!
You are correct. If I were to stretch the film more it would hug the sides better. But if I stretch the film anymore then it distorts the color, I tried to but it didn't look good.
Great video’s! Just fyi next time you have to do the door handles on a F-150…you can pop off the trim piece without removing the entire handle. There is two tabs on the back..pull down and out to release the first tab and then pull up while still pulling out on the bottom.
@Aaron Ferguson No you don't actually, just in case someone needs to do this. The exterior handle cover comes off easily from the outside. On the big end, you need to pull up and pull down at the same time and pull slowly. It will come off and leave the actual door handle mechanism still on the truck. I am wrapping my handles right now and am having issues with 3M 1080 G212 film. This video has given me some ideas on how to fix what went wrong on the first attempt.
Came here to ask this question. Tried to wrap my drivers side door handle today and where I knifed the vinyl to cutout the key hole and thumb button the vinyl lifted.
This is interesting info however I've never heard it mentioned anywhere else and I've seen a ton of wrapped teslas. Can you link something that talks about it? I'm interested.

Thanks,I just started wrapping the interior of my 2017 f150 with matte black and metallic blue.
Thanks for this video! My next job is a 2018 F150. I really think satin is the new matte...

No, because the correct way to do it is to disassemble the handle.
@@CKWraps That makes sense if you’re wrapping the entire truck but if just doing the handles then you can just pop off the cover
@@4xcft But the correct way to pop off the cover is to disassemble the handle entirely. Otherwise you maximize the chance of breaking something.
Awesome video, very informative!
Great job
Do you have to take the interior panels off to remove the exterior handles?

@@sdonaghey i was looking for this comment. The door handle caps can be pulled off in about 10 seconds if you know the method!
Do u have a video of you wrapping a G8 ?
How do you handle the key hole on the drivers side?
That's a secret for videos on my website

What color this car wrapped?
Can I send you my covers so you can do them?
So about sending you some handles........??
If you had to do this on a Tesla the client would lose their warranty and super charging as well. You ever wrap teslas?
Yes I've wrapped many Tesla and they've never had an issue
