      Challenge he has is that these parts contain undercuts not easily allowing them to get out of a mould… they are perfect for printing… not so much for injection moulding (as far as I can tell from the ‘assembly video’. Not sure though. Would have to look up close.

    I'd really like to see a design based on Rey's gold lightsaber from the end of TROS, since that's one of the only lightsabers that is canonically activated by twisting part of the handle (even if it wouldn't match the twist-saber motion 100%)

    Probably not a very popular request, but I think Revan’s Sith lightsaber would look really cool as a twist saber.

      Depending on the math behind the rotation, his Jedi lightsaber would be challenging for a Twistsaber.

    The most important improvements on toy lightsabers ever. The extending and retracting. So freaking cool. I will be getting these. And hopefully helping with Kickstart. This is what every lid wants lol

    Where TF were these when I was a kid!? WOW dude you've really outdone yourself here. I'm so happy to see someone is still keeping the plastic sabers alive. It was my favorite toy growing up and I still have one of my original Phantom Menace OB1 green blade sabers. All the scratches and dings to accompany it. SOO many memories with that thing. So many adventures. I pray when I have kids, your product will have really thrived, and I can go and take them right into the toy aisle and create those memories with them. A shame you only find those garbage "character" inspired hilts in the stores these days. Great work man!

    Love these buddy! Make some with glow in the dark filament blades and use a circular emitter mounted circular UV led array with narrow bundle lenses on top to excite the filament to glow… (like a tracer does for airsoft bbs)…

    I think the grip section of the mace windu hilt would lend itself nicely to a twistsaber. Radially symmetric much like the yoda or anakins.

    • @twistsaber
      @twistsaber  Місяць тому +1

      It's funny you say that, because I have been playing around with mace windu. You're right, the grip section is fine. But the base gets narrow, and that is contradictory to the Twistsaber function. Working on it...

    • @mtndewv
      @mtndewv Місяць тому

      @@twistsaber is thinner blade diameter possible? For neopixels Mace hilts typically require a thinner blade than the standard 1" most use.

    • @twistsaber
      @twistsaber  Місяць тому +1

      @@mtndewv In what i have worked on so far, the blade is the same diameter and that looks fine. If you started 3d printing these on your own, and scaled it to make the diameter smaller, I would worry about the pitch of the screws. It is already pretty steep, I am not confident the center screw could get smaller in the diameter only.

    Is it possible to make the curved-hilt lightsaber of Count Dooku?

    • @twistsaber
      @twistsaber  Місяць тому +3

      It is difficult to manage the length because the blade can't collapse into the curve. I think the way to do is to have a curved bit at the bottom, and omit the curve a the very top. It's on my list, but not the top of the list

    • @Karshall-
      @Karshall- Місяць тому +1

      @@twistsaberthere are some old Count Dooku toys that still have the curve but it's a lot less and a lot lower on the hilt, but the blade doesn't fully collapse either so I'm not sure it would he possible without a really long hilt.

    • @TysonWiggins-s3q
      @TysonWiggins-s3q Місяць тому +1

      @@twistsaber would it be possible for the blade to sort of pivot into the hilt when it gets to the curve but lock in place when going up? There is this piece in a blade builders kit that I have that I'm sort of getting this from, it twists to be a 90 degree angle or a 180, I think its in the set that has the spinning inquisitor type piece if you want to look at it for refernece.

  • @c.j.echave
    @c.j.echave Місяць тому

    might be the single biggest star wars toy innovation since the "force action" (spring action) toy line
    but even better since you got the models ACTUALLY accurate to the movies (barring the cut outs on qui-gon's due to the obvious space requirements for the mechanism)

    I don't know how to concisely tell you how amazing this is. I like the lego hilt most and I've pledged the respective amount on Kickstarter. I really like the obi wan ep 1&2 hilt, and the Shaak Ti/Barriss Offee hilt, and I'd buy them when available. @@twistsaber I can’t find it at the moment, but I remember in the 80s or early 90s there was a competition between some of the big makeup artists (Stan Winston, Rick Baker and so on) about who could build the best zombie. I can’t remember who if was, but he won by creating a zombie with pieces of mirror incorporated into the costume, so it looked like the zombie had massive holes in his chest, which no actor could survive with. Now this would be easy to do with CGI, but back then it was impressive and made the zombie look undead and not like a guy in makeup.
      Seeing this reminded me of that story. Since you can’t physically cut deeper without impinging on the blade, the mirror trick could make it look like the cuts go further.

    Can you explain why the top isn’t gonna be rounded for the blade when I feel it totally could be?

    • @twistsaber
      @twistsaber  Місяць тому

      Good question. When blade is in the collapsed position, there is screw that comes right to the inside corner. I could not round it without increasing the height of that one segment, and doing that, would have an negative impact on my collapsed to extended length ratio.
