This is the most consistent I have been in a long time….I actually have savings ! I have been sticking to my budget and have been no spend for two months and I am gonna continue to low spend. Being more intentional with where my coins go. I have been able to pay off two cards, 2 other accounts by doing the debt snowball. That’s an awesome feeling!!! This month I am staying focused on the budget and tweaking the grocery portion.

Kate, do pay off mortgage ASAP! My husband and I paid off the mortgages on both houses we ever owned, and within 3 months, one if us lost our job. Husband was Enron and it took 3 years to find another job in his field. We were able to avoid losing the house as well as gutting our retirement accounts, because our bills consisted of insurance, property tax, monthly electric, gas and city services were able to be paid out of my 30 hour/ week part-time job. (Our pantry was always over stocked - I grew up food insecure). Paying off the house was the best decision we ever made.

Hey k squad. I think consistency is my thing. Saving first every time I get paid . I know have a emergency fund, a buffer and some savings. I never thought I could do it. Doing another no spend for march. I’ve got my back. I’ve got options now. It is possible.

It would have to be consistency. When I first got my current t mortgage, I couldn’t add much extra to it, but I knew I had to find a way. I started with 25 dollars, then 50, then 100 per month. I’m now in a position to add 400 a month. I did a refinance at 2.25 percent. You can’t imagine how much this thing has gone down. I now owe in my house what many people owe on their
Car!!! Whatever you can put extra, do it!!! Even 5 dollars a month! It’s like a savings account. If you sell the house, you’ll get way more back. If you intend to keep the house, you’ll have far fewer payments in your future, especially as you get older, which is a real concern for most people.❤❤

I was paycheck to paycheck till the no spend January. I picked up aside hustle and put some money aside for the first time in years! Good thing too! I was able to fill my propane tank ($700), and was able to buy a new (refurbished) phone when mine died, yes to Mint mobile too. And….my car died, $509 fuel pump but now back on the road! Thank you for your example and encouragement! BTW, my happiness index is 10/10!

It's probably consistency for me. For a long time I was flying by the seat of my pants with budget--and getting nowhere. A year ago I made a budget and got real with it. Now I'm rarely blind-sided financially and I'm saving a little while paying off debt. Feels good.

I just finished paying off a huge loan and credit card. Now this is where I have to get with a plan so I don't have to get in debt again. It would be so easy to just go and not pay attention and just spend. And listening to your advice is really going to help. I do have money set aside for the unexpected, but I think that it needs to be more. Thank you for sharing.

I think the type of being consistency and a happy audit really helps me out to make sure that what iam doing is well worth it. I think as long as I keep my focus on what is important to me as the Bible says in Philippains 1:10 and place my Trust in Jehovah hands and know for sure that my plans will succeed as Proverbs 16:3 says. I'm doing just fine....and I'm doing a happy 💃 dance....But thanks for all the encouragement that u give out Kate. It does keep us focused on what is important for us all esp me.😊😊😊

I love the way you speak right to our hearts, Kate. You are a wonderful coach and motivator.
I really like the idea of a "Happiness Audit". Two ways my happiness has soared this week are my line dancing class and my outdoor walking club (both free). One friend called me a Comfort Connoisseur because I find so many ways to spark joy. One is just to meet a friend on a coffee shop patio for a nice heart to heart conversation. Others include little rituals or newly mastered habits. Conversations make my heart do a happy puppy dance.

Good Morning, I have been doing to 12 week challenge. It has been going well. I plan on starting it up again for the next 12 weeks. I have just about reached my goals. of dropping some weight, and saving some money. I do like consistency and routine. They go hand and hand. You know what to expect. Often times I never know when to say when, is enough. I Hardly ever say NO. I do try to find the happiness every day. Some days can be hard, but I always find a small glimmer of hope in something every day which brings happiness. Love watching your videos. I have been for for a long time now. since your apartment days. Thank you for all you do.

I do want to share a win - Chris came home tired and I asked if he wanted to order. We were on the verge of ordering and I asked him if he really wanted to order or if he wanted to have the leftovers in the fridge (and make fries as additional) and he goes 'well, we probably should, so why don't we do that so we aren't left regretting it later'. Usually he is the voice of saving a bit, so when he said yes and then I questioned again and he changed his mind, I felt very good. It felt like I could change my own habits 🙂

Consistency is key to making financial progress. I didn't consistently save or invest in my twenties and thus I didn't see much progress. In my thirties I have been consistently saving and investing and I've reaped the rewards of seeing my accounts grow. Consistently practicing frugal habits really pays off over time.

It has become easier to budget since I retired and now live alone. I don't need to go out as much and therefore am not tempted to shop "for recreation"! I'm pretty much low spend every month and don't have to feel that it's inconvenient to anyone else. For instance, I knew I'd needed to get new tires and an oil change for my car. But I waited two months to do so until I had the cash in hand! (I avoid using my charge card if at all possible. ) In the meantime, I drove very little and kept pumping up the slow leak one tire had. I didn't let panic take over!
It is very satisfying at month's end to have cash left in my checking and a bit stashed away for savings. Not everything's an emergency that requires going into debt to remedy!!!

Happy frugal Friday, Kate! :-) I like the part where you said to save up in spurts! Because recently, I was able to save up to buy my new iPhone in cash, rather than financing it, and creating another bill! But I had to save up in spurts for that, because my last phone was starting to give out! There’s another thing about saving up in spurts, the money that I Use for the iPhone! I was able to save up the same amount in my savings account, so it was like I never touched it! BOOM!

I LOVE the idea of 'financial sprints'! Never thought of it that way, but what a GREAT way to break goals down into smaller, quickly achievable, portions and then KNOW that 'if I can do this for x amount of time, I can check off that goal'! I'm going to go over my budget/goals this weekend, and come up with a 'sprint' game plan! Thanks for the idea :)

Yay! Your video is one of my Friday treats!
I haven't been in the group on Sundays, the timing doesn't work for me, but I have managed to achieve my Q1 savings target in 2 months!! Consistent budgeting and challenging myself to save more is working well for me.

Wonderful positive video. I am all over the "happiness audit", though I call it a "review" - but that is just vocabulary comfort, it just feels like a more positive word, but it's all the same thing. In fact I build in a seasonal happiness fund or seasonal fun budget. I have a sinking fund into which I add my leftover weekly budget money with the goal of 100 each season to spend on doing something that makes me happy and not experiencing any guilt about it at all. I might spend less than that (like I went apple picking in the autumn) and roll it over to the next season, I might save a bit more to do something extra special another season (like this month I went to see a play on Broadway). But no matter how much, if I can pay for it in cash out of that budget left over, I feel no guilt, no matter what others think. I'm not saying I have no spending that doesn't annoy me - some unavoidable, other I am working on - and that is why I do a monthly review.

Happiness contentment knowing I took control of what was not making me feel good...lottery tickets, gel nail treatments all too frequent for nails to be glamorous instead of a good old fashion manicure and pedicure, cut the cable for TV shows that I never watch, too much diet coke which only left me feeling bloated, coffee subscriptions which kept me driving out of my way to utilize!

Joanne, I sincerely apologize. I can't figure out why it's not working on this video. I did all the things I normally do settings wise, but it's not pulling:( I'm so sorry about this one! I'll keep researching to see if I can fix it somehow. Thanks for your patience and for being here!
