Great choices in a crowded market segment. I think a sleeper in this price range is the U-Turn Orbit Theory w/Ortofon 2M Bronze at about $1300. I also like the Marantz TT -15S1 in this price range and it's a looker.
around 2.48 mark you mention the technics 1500c turntable and yet you show a picture of a different technics table the 1500C does not have a platter like the one shown or the slider feature what's up?
Does the Sumiko Rainer/Moonstone being MM, mean you cannot take advantage of the balanced aspect of the X2B without changing the full cartridge to something else?
Yes, that is correct, they told us they did not want to the starting price of the table to be so high it would discourage people, we asked them to have two versions, one that way, and one with one of their MC cartridges that supports balanced. Thanks for watching and please feel free to reach out to our team for more questions.
I have the debut pro and i’m really satisfied with it. Thinking about upgrading it with a ortofon 2M bronze cartridge instead of the pick it pro cartridge that was premounted. Guess I won’t need to buy another turntable for a lifetime thereafter 😂😍 I chose between rega p3 and the debut pro but after a lot of research, reviews and the fact that the debut pro design attracted me more the choice landed on the debut pro.
@@markusgunnarsson6228 Yep, I was looking at the P3, as well. Chose the PJ for the same reasons and have been very happy. The 2M Bronze is a very good choice - warm sound, good life, not as lean as the Black. Nagoaka MP is great for the rich, broad, orchestral qualities, while AT is great for lively, bassey pop and rock. I'm running a Red, but have been considering a Bronze, too. If you get it, let us know how you like it! 👍
@AudioAdvice £880 vs $1,600 for the P3, that's a $500usd difference. Is there not a better table in the usd range where you're not spending $500 in shipping basically?
That is the $64,000 question. There has not been a push to standardize how things were done. There are three steps and only AAA would be all analog. Any older recordings pre around 1982 should be analog, but you have to be careful of repressing which could be redone in digital. Many repressing will brag about being all analog, but that is about it
For the Pro-Ject X2 B, do I need to go fully balanced all the way to the speakers, or is from the TT to the phono stage good enough? I have very short interconnect lengths between components and speakers
The biggest advantage is to the phono preamp as that is the super low level signal. You should be good and we would be happy to help you with your purchase. Thanks for watching
Hi great informative video, I recently bought rega plannar3 , but unfortunately and this issue has been noted on various forums whereby mains hum can be heard as the tone arm nears the centre of the record . Other than that is a great deck , regards mark
This was a wonderful review. Thank you for sharing these "top shelf" turntables. After looking at Turntables through out 2023, I ended up going to Best Buy and Purchasing a Sony LX310BT Turntable with BLUETOOTH. It is an automatic turntable. It has a built in Pre-amp. It cost me 199.00 dollars and does everything I need. It is plugged into a pair of Klipsch Powered Speakers that were on sale for 299.00 dollars. While I respect these wonderful turntables, some of us don't have that big a budget. Happy 2024, Love Your Channel!
It is terribly annoying to see the x2b coming with the Sumiko Rainier. The outgoing X2, which is damn near the same, had the Sumiko Moonstone. Wildly different calibers. I’m also kinda lost on why the product photos, like the one in this video, show the turntable with a Moonstone mounted. The Sumiko Rainer is white, the moonstone is red. I’m guessing someone just copied and pasted from the old model.
These modern TT’s suck. No dust covers, no suspension systems, only isolating feet, & none dissipate vibrations🙈, they & Sorbothane only hold & reintroduce it into the unit. With a budget of $2K, a vintage model is desirable. My Thorens TD520 is a perfect example😎.
I still own a mid 1970's. Pioneer full auto that has all the bragging points , spring suspension , thick compressed wood base , belt drive... it still works fine , far as I can tell. near half a century - THAT is a product. the most critical tech point, I'd think - can the arm play high quality cartridges.... I'dd say Yes to that as well. back then. shure V15 and others played at slightly less than 1 gr. 'tracking'

Its biggest problem is its 2d rigid sound. Technics and high torque DD's cant loosen up and boogie. Its like a modern philharmonic orchestra trying to play Funkadelic! They also have a hardness and digital esque signature. You cant make them sound good imo. A Rega P6 just walks all over a Technics for musicality
Thanks for the feedback. We do our best to keep it interesting and lighthearted instead of a monotone voice throughout the videos. However, we are always looking to improve, so we will take this into consideration moving forward.

The Music Hall Stealth is a nice choice for the sub $2k market as well. It basically looks like a Music Hall turntable...but is a Technics turntable. ...and by saying that, I mean the Stealth's plinth looks like other Music Hall models, but everything else about the 'table looks & works like a Technics.
Agreed, this industry is crazy for me me me time, most don’t even play a record, let alone show you the goodies, It’s because they don’t have the hardware and have to download and edit snippets where ever they can find it. @MarcusFenixD Rega with their lack of speed control without a separate box, lack of VTA adjustment, lack of azimuth adjustment, even the feet can’t be levelled, permanently fixed RCA leads and complete lack of published specs for wow and flutter, rumble and so on I took a hard pass on a P3. @@michaelb9664Im telling you this as an owner of a Project Debut Pro with the stock Pick It Pro that the P3 with an Exact absolutely walks all over it.
