  • I have noticed people are getting frustrated with the sequencer on the Pro VS Mini so I have put together this video in the hopes it solves any problems you may have been experiencing when recording sequences. This is not the be all and end all of solutions, it's just how I have been able to get good results. Keep watching to the end it's basically in 3 sections.

Thank you for posting this video. The comment I added to this fellow's previous video still stands as relevant after watching this, so, if you'll pardon me, I'm just going to cut and paste it here. I would just add: My Korg Volca FM has no step entry, so I have often slowed the tempo down SOMEWHAT in order to more easily enter the notes accurately. I have NEVER had to SLOOOOWWWW it DOOOOWWWN anywhere near as extremely as demonstrated here, and yet have NEVER had a problem with double triggering. This is a FLAW with the Pro VS Mini. My previous comment: "a)At the advice of Beheringer customer support, I have tried the slow-tempo entry method, and it still double-triggers about 20 % of the time. Not to mention the VERRY SLOOOOW tempo you would have use to enter notes makes the process clumsy and not very creatively conducive. b) I have 5 different Volcas. Some of them have step entry, some do not. When entering a sequence in "record" mode on a Volca, even at a fast tempo, a quick single press of a keyboard key NEVER results in 2 notes. I have entered notes in "record" mode on my Volcas for years. Never once had a double trigger. There is a design flaw somewhere in the note triggering on the Pro VS Mini. Maybe it can be fixed in firmware. Maybe not."

I personally just find slowing down the Tempo makes it more accurate when creating the sequence. I can't comment on how it compares with other sequencers this is the first device I own with a sequencer. I have created sequences with a faster Tempo and managed that fine as well. Thanks for the comment.

I understand your point. Indeed, I do the same slow-tempo entry with the Volca FM, as I mentioned, for the same reason. I just don't have to slow the tempo on the FM to the bare minimum just to get it to work properly. @@61KeyAudio

This has been an issue bugging me from day one. Although I can just use my DAW to sequence it from, the built in sequencer shouldn't be double triggering, as it makes it pretty much useless unless you slow it right down like this vid. A step sequencer would be handy and I hope Behringer add one.

@@SamT987 For me it's just the way I use the sequencer. Slowing it down just improves your ability to get it right the first time.

@@lambd01d Hopefully Behringer will take another look at it and improve things. For me just slowing things down seems a good way of getting the sequence you want.

Top Man! Its the FUNC + PLAY to skip notes that isn't shown in the manual.

Thanks for the post. I'm new to synthesizers how do you get notes to sustain longer? In play back. Thanks again.

In the video I show you how to set the Tempo Scale, as far as I can tell this appears to be the note length, it's not clear in the manual. It ranges from 1/8 to 1/32. Using the Attack,Decay,Sustain & Release in the Envelope may help with this, I have not presonally tried that, with the sequencer. Thanks for the comment.

I just got the Pro VS mini and I found that if you changed the record mode to “record” instead of fixed step you can record longer length. It’s function and on of set buttons on the bottom on the left side.

@keith3229 I could look at it but it would be very short, I think there are either 3 to 5 different types if I remember correctly.

cool .. can u explain us how to setup properly the bpm tempo here ..? is there assist button anywhere.. never found it .. I can see under menu on this machine but can't setup. a proper bpm if you can help me that would be awesome

@user-xq3lb7nb3f On the device itself you have 2 options using the rotary tempo knob or via the menu that I have showed in the video but I believe this may be the note length under the tempo section(may check this at some point). The only other way to get a more accurate figure would be to connect it to another device and set the other device as a Master so it controls the clock. I have done this myself and it does control the clock.

@@user-xq3lb7nb3f I've tried this with my Casio CT-S1000V and the Casio can control the tempo of the Pro VS Mini, you need to Press Function then Key 2 'SYNC' and set that; in my case to USB, in your case I would imagine to MIDI for your Juno.

Thank you for posting. I connect my Pro VS Mini to my Casio CTS1000v using a raspberry pi as a USB Midi Host. I can then play the Pro VS Mini via the Casio keyboard and vice versa.

any problem with the skip notes? it really skip the notes, ignoring the tempo, anyone dont understand? in case there are 1,2,3,4 steps in total, if u skip the 2,3, it will simply go through 1 and 4. the tempo changed

    • @61KeyAudio
      @61KeyAudio  4 місяці тому

If you slow the tempo down and set the notes to 1/8 it helps when recording. Also there are 2 modes Fixed Step and Record, try each; one may work better for you. You may also want to check the Firmware version on your device mines upto 1.1.2 or is it 1.1.1.2.

@BarbieChaite, hi thanks for the comment, in the first example I use 'Record' which is one of 2 modes of the Pro Vs Mini sequencer; the second example I used 'Fixed Step' which is the other mode. The last example, I just did that to show that you can use the Pro VS Mini keyboard just as well as an external keyboard to record sequences.
