    Are there any customers though? I hardly get any sales on ebay it's beginning to look like vinted is much better, yes it's so much easier to list and items are selling. Today I got two sales on vinted and one from ebay.

      There’s a worldwide base of customers, it a the biggest platform out there but they seem to tinker a lot in the background and if you don’t pay for promoted listings your reach is much less.

      Depends on what you're selling. Stick to unique items and you'll do very well. Have high street tat that thousands are trying to sell and it's not worth it imo.

    EBay Germany is free for PRIVATE sellers in ALL CATEGORIES. I think clothes is just the start and eBay uk will go the same way. I believe it’s to do with the stock market share price, which has seen growth in Germany since the announcement last year and the uk wants the same.

    I think a logical step would be for ALL used clothing to be free of charges regardless of seller status, which would escalate traffic away from online competitors.No change for new clothing.

    You might love ebay, but it does not love you back.

    Hi Chris, On the live chat someone commented that they trialed "100% off fees for some sellers". You appeared to read that as that is what this possibly is etc. To clarify the "100% off fees is a real thing. My wife has had NO FEES at all on anything she's sold for 2 months. 15th Feb through to 15th April. It's been amazing as we've sold loads of higher priced things we've had lying around the house and cleared hundreds of pounds with absolutely zero fees. Meanwhile I've sold a 15quid item and get charged £3-4 🤷🏻 laughable but I can't complain as now I have more 'tat room" 😂
    👍🏻👍🏻

      I know a lot of private sellers received the zero fees for 2 months.

    Wonder if it would reduce the amount of returns if businesses did change to private accounts. Obviously “item not as described “ can be returned anyway. I don’t sell clothes, I am a business and pay my taxes but feel abit peeved by this whole thing. EBay I feel need to have an incentive to retain its business sellers.

    • @CookieTheHaydens

      Maybe but if someone operates as a business but on a private account then they are breaking the law.

    • @adelesmith1768

      @@CookieTheHaydens absolutely. I totally disagree with a business doing that as well as private sellers who buy to resell and don’t pay taxes and don’t comply with distance selling requirements. I was wondering whether eBay want to reduce returns from an environmental side of things.

    • @CookieTheHaydens
      @CookieTheHaydens  3 місяці тому

      @adelesmith1768 I doubt it, they just need to compete with vinted basically

      @@CookieTheHaydens I think maybe one small part of bigger changes that lawful businesses will pay for. Like a charge for businesses using bubblewrap as the concept is alien to Vinted sellers! Haha I am joking but there will be reasons behind all of this. To make eBay look good. I sound bitter but I’m not … yet. I like you love selling on eBay. It maybe a way to get buyers of clothing away from Vinted and over to eBay you never know it may help.

    They will go bust if they make all clothing free to sell.

    As I have a business premises and business bank account I can sell non clothes items on that’s account and I could if I wanted set up a private ebayer sellers account via my home address to sell clothes
    If I’m buying clothes on eBay I do buy from sellers who offer returns

    • @CookieTheHaydens
      @CookieTheHaydens  3 місяці тому

      You can do anything you like but if someone sells as a business on a private account then it’s breaking uk law.

    • @Dirlewanger44

      @@CookieTheHaydens but I would have two accounts a business account registered at my business address and paid into my business bank and a private account registered at my home address paid into my personal account and use to sell “private clothing items”
      It’s not breaking the law only if you don’t pay the tax just transfer eBay payments from personal account to business account each month

    • @CookieTheHaydens
      @CookieTheHaydens  3 місяці тому +1

      @Dirlewanger44 If you’re selling your own clothing on a private account of course it’s fine. If your selling business items on a private account you are mis-representing and is against uk trading law. This is the only reason eBay actually have business accounts, to comply with that requirement. And it’s also why vinted pro is coming out. I’m not really bothered what other people do I’m only interested in my own affairs.

    • @Dirlewanger44
      @Dirlewanger44 3 місяці тому

      @@CookieTheHaydens and how do you prove they’re a private seller not a business seller if they’re only selling clothes on a private account and using a private bank account and address? The only thing you’re doing is dodging the eBay fees which isn’t illegal just eBay’s T&CS it be too difficult to police they don’t do it now with businesses using private accounts
      You will see loads of sellers thinking of ways round it. New eBay accounts springing up.
      Your last sentence is interesting look after number one and fuck the rest
      So your not interested in uk business sellers just yourself 😂

    If ebay announced no seller fees for used clothing i'd be doing cartwheels right now as i'd earn an extra 60k a year. id settle for them cutting fees in half, Ive been selling on ebay 20 years, we sell about 12k items per year plus wholesale and it's just getting a joke. Im trying out some cross listing software from next month to hopefully get some very low fee/no fee sales as vat, promotion fee, listing fee, selling fee is the reason used clothing online is expensive and it's terrible for the used clothing industry as a whole. If large vintage/pre owned businesses can't compete online then that clothing will not be bought and will end up in landfill or warehoused so ebay claiming this is some recycling/supprting pre loved is total bollocks.

      @@CookieTheHaydens people have complained about the fees for years but this was generally people who had only operated online/from home without running a business with usual overheads but now the complaints are 100% valid. It used to offer not bad value for money for a business, it looked like a lot but compared to running an actual shop with utilities etc and the fact you only really pay when you sell (minus the small shop fee) but now it's terrible. I know a LOT of sellers online and supply quite a few and they use ebay now solely to promote their own websites and other online platforms with leaflets etc when people buy from them.
