She explains differences in synonymous words that may be used only on writing or to change the nuance of a sentence. She explains pitch accent, something textbooks and most Japanese teachers skip over or fail to acknowledge altogether. She spends a LOT of time scripting, recording, and sometimes acting parts in these videos while providing tons of real world example sentences. Yes, many of Misa's lessons are quite long. Just take them in sections if you don't have time for the entire lesson. You won't regret it. If I want to say, "I want you to apologise to Tom," which one should I say 「(あなたに)トムに謝ってほしい」or 「トムに(あなたに)謝ってほしい」？Or, does the the way we arrange it change the meaning or not?
The context matters the most! 「あなたにトムに謝ってほしい 」would mean “I want YOU to apologise to Tom.” Or if you want to say “I want Kate to apologise to Tom” then you say 「ケイトにトムに謝ってほしい」So the word order matters here but it sounds a bit confusing. So, people generally just say 「トムに謝ってほしい」and guess the meaning from the context.

The particle に indicates the person you want something to do, but it can also indicate the person to whom you want a specific person to do something. For example トムに謝ってほしい can either mean “I want Tom to apologize” or “I want you to apologize to Tom”, 誰かに手伝ってほしい can either mean “I want someone to help me” or “I want you to help someone”, and so one. How do we know when is which? Simply by contest? But contest is not always so clear 😅🤔😭

Many of us long-time residents in Japan are trying to correct this person by person, but it's really exhausting after a while. It would be wonderful if we had more support in spreading this simple show of respect🙏🏼

I have translated the Japanese example sentences into English to more closely match the nuances of the Japanese language. その投球はレーザービームのようだった。 The pitch had a (similarity) to a laser beam. 彼はマイケルジャクソンのように踊った。 He danced (like) Michael Jackson. あのジュースは花のような香りがした。 That juice had a flower(-like) flavor.
Can you use 欲しい with nouns and not verbs? For example, is it okay to say 新しい靴欲しい。? Do you need a particle like が or を? Can you use 欲しい in the first place?
In that one example トムに謝ってほしい。 Can this sentence say both “I want Tom to apologize” and “I want you to apologize to Tom” and if so how would you distinguish between the two, are they content based?
Yes you are right, just by reading that sentence without no context given, it’s impossible to tell. However, in actual conversations, subject/topic would be very clear, imagine situations below. Ex, “Misa cheated on Tom, トムに謝ってほしい。” This would be transferred to “(I) want (her) to apologize to Tom” Ex, “Tom cheated on Miss, トムに謝ってほしい。” and for this “(I) want Tom to apologize to (her)” Hope it helps, ganbatte!

If you want to use honorifics (speaking to a superior), replace "dekimasu" with "odekinarimasu"
