- Roy is forging a flame finial in this video. If you like decorative bar ends, this is one to add to your list! Blacksmith finials come in many shapes and sizes. You could try forging a flame and adding it to projects such as towel bars, pot racks, hinges, and more!

I had to watch this twice- it was like watching a black smith ballet! Watch the tempo of your work, the pause to study the piece after each step. Really an inspirational video. Thank you!
Thanks Roy! Great video and a great look. I can visualize a pair of candle holders somewhere in my house coming up soon.
Finial looks great and so does the new format' ! Thanks Roy
Good fun, Like how you changed the video, like how they were, too. Whatever you find best is the way to go. Thank You for sharing......
Very nice. I see a couple of new candle holders for my house with this on it. Thanks Roy.
You are an Artist Roy. I may attempt this and hope I get close to your results. Thanks for posting.
As always, excellent video Roy, regardless of format I'm still watching! Nice finial, now just have to figure out what project to use it on!
Those would be really cool as the hands on a giant clock. I kinda dig the new format. Quick and to the point. No roy rant tho, points deducted. Lol.
The camera work shows it all so I like the new style also really liked the talking ones I can see either way. I like the flame finial looks really cool!
Roy rant!! Roy rant!! Roy flux!! Lol Nice finial shape. Thank you 🔨 on!!
That turned out awesome Roy!! Wayne
Very nice looking piece. I like that setup, watching you just work was nice. A quick here's what's going to happen at the beginning gave me the info I needed. Do what is best 4 roy. I will watch anyway either way
Very Nice Roy
I really like the new formats soundtrack/music. And you still explain everything without talking so it’s a win win.
I too like the new format. Nice work Roy.
I like the new format
👍 very much enjoyed the new format as well as the forging lesson!
Just my opinion. You're a great teacher, and it holds my attention more when you're talking/ explaining. You know I am a newbie so I found my self think up questions. The exta peirce between your anvil and bar when cutting....just for protection. I bet normally you would have mentioned that. See you in Goshen later this year. Still leaned from watching.
Had to chuckle when you said idea instead of your usual ideal.
Grammar police are watching y'all. Lol
Looks great Roy, well done.
Thanks, a basic skill to build on. Can't wait to practice.
I really liked this thank you for sharing ,stay healthy
Well tbh I had to watch it twice b4 I commented.
You know me...1st time around the voices in my head kept talking for you in your voice. Distracting little bugars! 😆🤣😂🤣
Had to convince them
" look it's just like Torbjourn Ahman...get some popcorn n shut it"
2nd time was much better. Business Class is a term that comes to mind.
So I reckon ima fence rider on this one. Can go either way w o issues.
As I talk out loud quite a bit while I work...that style would lead to a different level of concentration shall we say.
It's all in what's best for you and your numbers all about the board. Theres far more to it than point click film and upload. So onward and upward brother man.
🙏 God bless and keep now
Crawford out 🧙♂️
I was fortunate enough to catch your live stream making the other end. Both styles of videos have their merits. Aside from the community aspect of the live stream, it's very educational to see a real-time build, including the heats as often we beginners feel like we're taking forever to get a project done. That said, I really loved this style because it shows all the pertinent steps, even correcting a "mistake", that goes into making this finial in an instructional fashion. Your camera work is exceptional (Jess's?) so there really isn't any need for vocal instruction here. I really am learning a lot from your videos, both in blacksmithing and in those things that differentiate your instruction from others. (I will have to catch another live stream to drop a super chat soon.) Nice job!
Very nice work as always.
Awesome work man, keep it up.
That look's like the same one on your live stream It look's good The shape kinda look's like a fire flame like on the hot rods Great job Bud
Very cool Roy! Quick question though. Would it be a bonus, to punch a slug out, at the base of the eventual cut, to reduce rag? As in, mark the end of the cut location, punch it, then make the chisel cut. Makes sense in my head, but prefer your thoughts. Be well Sir 😀❤️⚒️👋
I can't speak for Roy on this, but I like the way you think sir! I'm gonna try it next time I need to spit a bar.
Hey Roy Just landed on 4 HD fork truck tine’s going to try a Gargantuan anvil build I’ll let yah know how it comes out.
Be a nice top on a andiron.
Cool final . Where'd you but buy that chisel lol
I have to say you move metal well
Nice. More whacking less yacking.
I dig the new format... you are obviously a great Smith but man (full respect) sometimes you talk too much.
Great stuff... I’ll keep watching... 👍
First 😂⚒👨🏻🏭
Great video but I'd rather like the narration. But it's your choice. Have a great day brother.
Not that I don't like your voice, but it's nice to watch a smithing video and focus on the technique. Sometimes the explaining detracts from the doing!
If you like that style video, may I suggest Torbjorn Ahaman's channel? excellent smith and techniques type videos
@@shadetreeforge I agree!
