Zach, I'm a Term 1 medical student and I just want to stop by and tell you how much I appreciate all your videos. I'm on my last week of the first term and we have our CPR2 exam coming up and your videos have clarified so many points in their lectures. A year ago my father died from a massive pulmonary embolism. As you can imagine, its very difficult for me to listen to these concepts and understand just how much he went through during his final moments. He's my sole motivation for becoming a doctor. I hope I can make him proud in the years to come but as of right now I've been able to accomplish that thanks to you and your channel! I look forwards to watching many more of your videos throughout my medical school journey. Thanks again!!!
This guy is the only reason I'm getting through med school....lol. I just want to know who the 21 people are that didn't like the video!!!!!!!!! (probably faculty members seeing their jobs going away)
Thank you so much. I'm in dedicated right now studying for Step 1, and this is the first time I've ever understood ventilation and perfusion. Ever. I cannot thank you enough.
OMG!! This is absolutely fantastic!! If you understand the basic concept - like what you are explaining, you can never get lost anywhere in Respiratory Pathophysiology!! Thank You Very much!
best teacher ever! seriously thank you for helping me get through my physio in the course of 6 weeks -_-...yes 6 weeks. I learn more from you then my professor so I stay home and study my chapters with ninja nerd. Thank you
+Breeann Barcelona wow! Thank you for the kind words they mean so much. You are a brave individual for taking a physiology course in six weeks. I hope these videos really helped and I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
Ninja Nerd Science sir iam really thakfull for your teaching....earlier hardly i studied that toowith fear...afteri started watching ur videos, iam studying out ofjoy now sir
This man is a genius he teaches and explains things that you didn't understand in your past physiology lecture in class. God richly bless🙏 your for passion and sincerity to let every student comprehend.
Im beginning to think the people who dislike this video are the professors who "teach" the subject but suck at explaining it. What a bunch of haters. You rock dude keep it up!
Respiratory Physiology has always been a nightmare for me to study until I came across your lectures. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain intricate information to such simplicity. Keep up the awesome work.👏👏👏
Wow! this is exremely wonderful. Thanks alot, you made this things very easy. Point of correction- The lower zones of the lung ventilate better than the upper zones and the middle zones have intermediate ventilation.
At time 27:30, you said that ventilation decreases from apex to base, but actually it increases from apex to base of the lung. Perfusion also increases from apex to base, but much more significantly that we have a lower V/Q at the base.
@@BlaackAnchor is it because at the end of expiration, the FRC at the apex area is more than the bottom, so the ventilation at the apex is considered lower?
wanted to let you know Ninja Nerd. you have helped me so much man. literally could not get this down until i watched your video a few times. working toward the Flight Paramedic Certification which, there are no classes to teach the material just a book. so just wanted to let you know. HUUUUGE Help!! couldn't have done it without you.
Sir, you teach us from the root of the topics that i love... Sir can u make a video on chest x-ray..there are many lectures on xray but all are boring....
Untill i saw ur lectures for the God sake i really hate physiology Our lectures would say anything clearly They even don't knw wht rubish they were teaching us Ur excellent 💯 teacher U were helping all 1st yr students sooo much ☺thnk zach sir
Hello u said that ventilation is better in the top(apex ) of the lung ,but actually it should be decreased bec all books said that lower zones of the lung ventilated better thant upper ,i wish u explain!! + ur the best in explaining physiology
I feel like you should have emphasized that the smooth muscle in the arterioles contracts and relaxes because capillaries dont have smooth muscle and so the illustration can be misleading.
The ventilation being talked abt is in the alveoli and not outside the alveoli..the ventilation will be more at the base but that phenomenon is applicable to the outside of the alveoli
@@rachellugtu2776 if the perfusion is lowest at the apex then whould the apex of the lung not try and match the ventilation therefore at the top of the lung would have a high ventilation?
I've never seen someone teach with such passion and sincerity.. Thank you so much
I wish I could hire him as my own teacher

these videos have really helped in a wide range.
I’m a student nurse anesthetist. I wish my physiology course would just post your videos instead of their lectures. You’re awesome.
Just Awesone .... I go into ecstasies whenever I watch your videos . It helps me alot in my medical studies . Thank you soooooo much💞💞💞💞💞❣😊
best videos ever - actually makes learning this stuff, dare I say, FUN?!

you're saving lives i can say that !
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I felt lost between my papers understanding nothing about respiratory physiology and you saved my life❤
This is some of the best content ever
Perfect videos for Respiratory Therapy school, thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this video, you're literally saving lives.
You broke that down to the ground! Amazing Job!
Wow! this is exremely wonderful. Thanks alot, you made this things very easy.
Point of correction- The lower zones of the lung ventilate better than the upper zones and the middle zones have
intermediate ventilation.
In addition ventilation perfusion ratio increases three times in the apex than in the base
But in that won't the v/q ratio be disturbed?Could u explain why u think ur point is right?
you give the human body it's proper dues! love your videos. big thank you!
Tomorrow I have an exam on all respiratory subjects and you are saving my life❤❤❤😢thank you sir.
Edit: my exam was so hard 💔
🥺🥺
I am brazilian and this video helped me so much
Thanks you so much for the presentation on V/Q ratio .
It was amazing .
Great.
This was so perfect and helpful in every way! one of my favorite videos on UA-cam.
Extremely perfect!
I really enjoyed it bro. Congratulations
You are a wonderful teacher! Thank You for helping me through pathophysiology
At time 27:30, you said that ventilation decreases from apex to base, but actually it increases from apex to base of the lung. Perfusion also increases from apex to base, but much more significantly that we have a lower V/Q at the base.
but shouldnt air goes against the direction of the gravity?
@@caidenlu we are talking about ventilation here, not just air. Thanks for your input....
@@BlaackAnchorbut isn't ventilation the movement of air? but i get youre right, just still got confused here about why
@@BlaackAnchor is it because at the end of expiration, the FRC at the apex area is more than the bottom, so the ventilation at the apex is considered lower?
@@caidenlu The ventilation is low because the cross sectional area (surface area) is low in the apex of the lungs
Thank you so much for the video on V/Q. This is awesome.
I became a member and the extra notes are amazing thank you so much
Glad you’re enjoying it! 😀

Good video pal. Very well explained. Thanks.

Ventilation increases from apex to the base. Please correct it ! Other than that ! A big fan ! Great job zack !
I feel like you should have emphasized that the smooth muscle in the arterioles contracts and relaxes because capillaries dont have smooth muscle and so the illustration can be misleading.
Elaborate
You're a godsend!
You da real MVP
Thank you professor God bless you❤
Love your explanation 👏
28:00 . Isn’t Ventilation more at the base of the lung? Ref: Ganong’s
The ventilation being talked abt is in the alveoli and not outside the alveoli..the ventilation will be more at the base but that phenomenon is applicable to the outside of the alveoli
Ventilation and perfusion is higher at the base and lower at the apex of the lungs. However, V/Q ratio is higher at the apex and lower at the base.
Yes due to gravity
this doesnt make sense to me either
@@rachellugtu2776 if the perfusion is lowest at the apex then whould the apex of the lung not try and match the ventilation therefore at the top of the lung would have a high ventilation?
Thanks alot for making it easy to understand ...
i like the way u teach with ! thank u for helping us
