Wow, Phil! I was definitely wondering how you were going to navigate such an oddly shaped piece of wood. Very cool how you kept the high/low levels of the rim. You had me sitting on the edge of my seat as you kept going deeper and deeper! But it was certainly worth the suspense. I think the cracks are very different, in a good way. As you said, they add character. I'm glad you could incorporate use of the emery boards from your wife. Very clever idea to get inside those cracks! I pray your health is ok and under control. I would imagine we are all here sending good wishes, whether in writing or in thought. Keep up the great work!
As you were discussind the cracks I was saying to the screen, "Don't fill them! Don't fill them!" I guess you heard me. That bowl looks almost like a polished stone. Beautiful! Be well, Phil.
The cracks add so much character to an already gorgeous piece. I was holding my breath the whole time, though! Spend time with your family, enjoy the holidays, and don't worry about a video. You more than deserve a week off! Hope all goes well with the health stuff. Take care of yourself above all else...you are a treasure!
Phil, the cracks enhance the beauty of the bowl. Filling them, in my opinion, is a risk that isn't worth taking. Take care of yourself first. We'll be here when you get back.
With this the last Thursday before Christmas, I would be remiss if I didn’t wish you and your entire family a very Merry and Blessed Christmas. Wishing you good health in the Ne Year. Love olive wood.very nice, Sir.
We love this bowl! My wife yells at the tv not to fill the cracks. I wish we could give you 2 thumbs up. One of our all time favorite bowls! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Thank you Phil. You're in our prayers.
Yes that is a cool bowl. It's always what the wood will give up in beauty. Not all appreciate what we spend on time and planing to make something we love. Your bowl is gorgeous.
Hey, if someone doesn't like it, they don[t have to look at it. You know the old saying, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." That is true here. I like it. I love the grain of Olive wood and I LOVE the smell of the wood while turning it.
Phil, first and foremost, you have no need to apologise for not putting out a video next week. I truly hope that you overcome any health issues. For what it's worth, your channel has played a very important role in my wellbeing over the last couple of years. Oh, and I love the form of the olive bowl.
Hi Phil. The Olive bowl is magnificent it really shines. I like all it's characteristics like the cracks. I'm really glad that you leave the wood in it natural state and not fill the holes. Love your videos keep them coming as much as you can. Amanda xx❤❤
I like every aspect of this piece, cracks and all. It just couldn't be prettier. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas Phil. And looking forward to more in the coming year. And oh yes I'll be keeping you in my prayers for a good outcome on whatever issue you might have. Thanks for sharing this year.
The cracks are just fine! I'd rather see voids than epoxy. That's why I love your channel. You don't see things like that as flaws, they are natural features and how the wood wants to be. Very nice bowl. Take care of yourself and, if we don't see you next week, we'll see you later.
The colors were beautiful before you started. The cracks add characters to it. Came out looking amazing. Thanks again, Phil, for sharing with your UA-cam family
Wow, this one was tricky. I think is the cracks that I can't get my mind around. They add so much to the piece. Thanks Phill. Only the best, my friend,as always...
I can sum up what I think about it in one word WOW 😲 That is so cool looking Phil. It is like that chunk of wood when to the beauty salon and got a Phil Makeover. I just love it. The cracks tell a story of what that piece of wood must have went through. Just fantastic my friend! So it might be smart brains think alike but it is probably OLD GUYS think alike but this morning I have an Olive Wood turning video. And it was a piece I got from you 4 years ago. I loaded it up a week ago so I will go with the brain thing LOL Great job my friend, Gary
The cracks show the wonderful talent that you have when such a rough looking piece of wood sits on your lathe. You have a wonderful gift and you offer it for us to enjoy. I love your weekly offerings, complete with cracks.
I like it! I'm glad you didn't fill the cracks. Those are the coolest feature on the bowl! It's kinda Zen also. Thanks for showing us such a beautiful piece of art!
Hey Phil, this is one of your VERY best (IMO). I loved how you used the "files" your wife left you. What a subtle memory maker. Have a great season Phil.
At one point I said that’s one butt ugly bowl but I thought Phil will turn it around and you did!!! It’s beautiful!! You are the master! It’s scary how you anticipate my thoughts and questions during the video! Best of luck with your health issues - we all care!
I love olive wood, too. Just this last week we went through California on our way to Arizona for the winter. One rest stop was surrounded by an olive orchard. I discovered a couple of branches that were cut off, lying on the ground. They are now lying on the back seat of my car! Not sure yet what I'll make out of them, but something! I like the cracks in your art piece. Thanks for taking us on the journey of your creation!

Wow, Phil! I was definitely wondering how you were going to navigate such an oddly shaped piece of wood. Very cool how you kept the high/low levels of the rim.
