    The most bizarre thing is that this film cost more than Arrival and Ex Machina combined. What did they spend the $70 million on - wages for Wahlberg/Ferrell? Loads of cocaine on set? Both???

    • @davidbushinski3307
      @davidbushinski3307 7 років тому +6

      $20 Million for Ferrell, $15 million for Wahlberg, $12 Million for cocaine.

      The strange thing is that after seeing the clip in the clip in the review, the movie looks pretty cheaply made.

      Adam Sandler's infamous Jack and Jill cost about $80m. Nobody really knows why these kinds of movies have such large budgets, but commonly-held theories include big-name actors squeezing studios for absurdly large paychecks, and higher-ups using them for money laundering.

      @oldfool666 6 років тому

      One of the Grown Ups movies cost $80 million to make lol! I'm pretty sure Marky Mark is the highest paid actor in the world this year off the back of Transformers.

      Charlie Panayiotou Some actors charge £20,000,000 a film so if you have 4 superstars then that's £80,000,000 on the mains. Also the directors and producers also get paid millions.

    That mirror joke could have ended after the shot of him looking in the mirror and seeing Will, without him saying a word, and it would have been a perfect gag.
    But no, like any bad comedy it has to drag it out and treat the audience like idiots for the sake of inflating the running time.

    • @somanytakennames
      @somanytakennames 7 років тому +12

      Totally agree. It's odd because there was a decent sight gag in the trailer I saw the other day. Mel Gibson was talking about "the lack of masculinity in the house" to Whalberg on a couch. Whilst he's doing that, the camera slowly tracks back to reveal Will Farrell awkwardly sitting to the side. It's not groundbreaking, but it was the only gag in the trailer that implemented some visual nous to it's comedy.

      The '10s have brought about this really obnoxious style of comedy where rather than having a set-up and a punchline, there's a set-up and a punchline and then another punchline in which they acknowledge the punchline and then another punchline as they awkwardly try to move past their acknowledgement of the punchline. This would be novel - except it's the format of every. single. joke.

    Will Ferrell and Gary Sanchez Productions are the new Adam Sandler and Happy Madison company.
    Bewilderingly high budgets for movies that look suspiciously cheap and they are about as funny as stubbing you toe.

    In the year full of many excruciatingly bad films this may not be the worst I've personally seen but it's certainly the laziest. Imagine the most basic slapstick gag you can think of. Now multiply it by 50. You've basically seen the film. What unnerved me more than anything in the actual film were audience members sitting at the back of my screening laughing consistently from start to finish. It just made me want to sit them in front of The Big Sick to show them an example of a truly great comedy from 2017.

    Not to mention this was the 2nd comedy sequel to come out Christmas 2017 where the selling point was the introduction of parents of the pre established characters at Christmas (bad moms)

    Even worse was seeing an ad suggesting it's a great family movie with parents with their young (under 12) children and saying how terrific it was. Please take your kids to see Paddington 2, not this tripe

    I wonder though Mark, were you in the mood? In one of your recent shows, you stated that you watched two or three films where people were fans. and you entered with misgivings , but, the crowd aloud you to perhaps enjoy yourself. I'l probably rent it just for John Lithgow, but there we go:D

    I like Gibson as a director now but not so much as an actor anymore. Also he is only like 13 years older then Mark Walberg so look more like his drug dealer then his father.

    Decided to save my time and skip this one, sad to see Mel Gibson taking part in this kind of garbage but I guess he needs to appear as much as possible to be back for real, so I'll forgive him as long as they let him do what he does best to be able to deliver his masterful work behind the camera.

    marky mark regrets boogienights, that's the best film he's been in in my view,. it's got way more substance than this garbage which is daddy's home 2, this film was so unfunny and it's so horribly cheesy it made me wanna throw up. it's been a long time since marky marks been in anything decent.

    • @MattSingh1
      @MattSingh1 7 років тому +3

      What the ruck are you babbling about? Where precisely did I state I was a fan of either Weinstein or Polanski? You're also actually factually wrong on fascist Gibson- his Passion of the Christ film was a fascist film made by a fascist, so one CANNOT separate the two, unlike Weinstein or Polanski, nether of which have ever made film about rape or sexual offenses. You're a dim-wit that cannot handle someone disagreeing with your vaunted and sacred opinion, and I've amply made you look a babbling fool.
