"...I also have the full concert that Ray was promoting at the Waterfront Belfast a few days after this interview" any chance for that one any time soon ? Thank you very much !
Hey STV there's a typo on Ray's last name, not sure if intentional but wanted to point it out since nobody mentioned it. Thanks again for all your uploads!
@@BlackRoomProductions Thank you, much appreciated that you pointed it out. The perils of doing video thumbnails while having a glass or four of wine 😇
Ray Davies is as good a songwriter as any of his contemporaries and it many times has surpassed them. Some of his best songs are very touching, one that really gets to me is from the word of mouth album it's called missing person, if you're a fan of Ray Davies and haven't heard that song you really should.
Bizarre to see Ray interviewed by Gerry Kelly. The Kinks played in Belfast many times but I was too young to know about it. I remember reading an interview were Ray said that the first time he heard Sgt Pepper was in Van Morrison’s flat in Belfast in 1967. Great to see this, love Ray Davies. Thank you for this.
Glad you enjoyed this Edward. I have a few more things that you might like, not sure about uploading them, any thoughts on the following. "Rockin the North" 1994 UTV documentary series about the music scene in NI, includes Taste, Them, Thin Lizzy, Rudi, Moondogs, Adventures, energy orchard and more 6x 30 minute episodes. Oh and I might upload the full Ray Davies Waterfront gig, just gotta trawl YT incase someone has already uploaded it or bits of it.
@@ScottishTeeVee I would love to see some of that documentary series! A lot of those bands were great. I was still living in Belfast when Ray played there in ‘97 - why I didn’t go I have no idea, I was probably working that night. I’m glad to know that at least that show was filmed and exists. I watch everything you put up on UA-cam.
What can you say about a great channel? All I can think of is thank you. Which is not enough. So I'll say thank you very much 'till the end of the day.
Ach Steevee, this is grand. Lovely to listen to Ray chatting (there were many of this kind of interview on Irish tv ) Nice tune too. Had quite a Kinks collection as a teenager. Nice guy Ray. (Will be watching the other clips you recommended). Have a good one mate. 👍✌️❤️
I saw him in Atlanta in the 90’s with the Storyteller tour. It was great. It was a smaller venue but old Kinks fans were there. The next year I saw his brother Dave do a solo show. Ray was better but Dave wasn’t bad.

@Bronze Diamond You are very welcome
The great Ray Davies. One of the truly great. I have loved the Kinks since the 1960's. They are unique genius.
Lifelong Kinks fan. Ray is a pretty nice guy I think. Only met him once but what a thrill that was! Great host
I saw Ray in Sydney when he toured the X-Ray show in Australia. He's such a charming one-off character and truly great songwriter.
"the rolling stones took route66, the kinks took the M1". Epic 👍✌️❤️
This man is a genius composer.

Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment William. I'll look up Missing Person on Spotify
Great song, chilling.
I’m in love with Ray

Thanks very much for this gem & the other link, as well. What an incredible songwriter Ray is...just love him and his brother so much ❤
Glad you enjoyed it
Love this guy. I'll take the Kinks to my deserted island.
Thanks for watching and commenting

Interview and song, cheers STV👏🏻👏🏻
Nice to see you watched in full. Thanks Martin.
Saw Dave Davies play about 20 years ago and met Ray in the mid 80s...
You lucky person, was he pleasant enough when you met him?
@@ScottishTeeVee yes, shook his hand and a "hello" only, BIG grin and friendly... This was a tiny club on E. 15th Street in Manhattan around 1986...

You were lucky to have seen both shows. Thanks for commenting Paul
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Wonderful! Thank you for uploading
Our pleasure!
Giving it up to Ivan!!!
Being humble
Great interview! Good questions to the champ! ..and a tuuuune!
You can hear Brandon flowers every so often they have the same way with words
The Kelly show has the most gaudy and cheap sets. This one in 1997 takes the biscuit... Going for the GP's waiting room theme here in '97!
He was quite funny, shame the audience where giving him nothing.
there are but a few who have a sound sense of this world's foibles
Ray Davies had Irish on his mother's side.
Nothing ugly about Ray Davies.
He's a great man and a fantastic front man
