I'm so happy that Spiderman finally found the REAL Mary Jane Watson from his multi-dimensional adventure. I even heard rumors that they will produce Spiderman '98.
It’s likely X-Men 97 takes place during the last 2 seasons of the Spider-Man Animated Series. So Spidey didn’t find Real Mary Jane, he just doesn’t know that the Mary Jane he’s with is a clone.
I agree it's good to show a healthy relationship between a gay and straight man but it's kind of undermined by them implying Morph fancies Logan rather than it being a equal friendship.
Meh. Bisexual and gay people form romantic attachments to straight people of the same gender all the time. It’s how they treat that relationship matters in the end, they treat the friendship as being stable and honest then yes. They’ve accomplished their goal. If a large amount of drama comes out of it, if Logan rejects his friendship, just on merit or discomfort, then they fail. Or if Morph starts getting really angsty about not being able to get closer to his friend, then they fail. Men and women both have formed romantic feelings for me over the years, and I could not reciprocate those feelings. It’s how I responded to knowing or suspecting, or how they acted toward me after rejection, that mattered most. Of course, the men never stood a chance, and in my experience, both parties handled the situation with respect and care, remaining friends afterwards. Yes dude, what they’ve shown in the series is still healthy.
I’m glad they brought morph back, since exiles he’s tied with nightcrawler as my fav and I love he’s non-binary I thought a shapeshifter should be written like that but I didn’t know they had the same idea
My main issues with the show are 1st The pacing. Plot threads like Madalin and the creation and destruction of Genosha feel like they should had been 2 parters. Cyclops was leader for just a single episode. The 2nd Sunspot. He just felt so disconnected the the main plot and the rest of the cast that I didn't even care about him. Felt nothing when he turned to Magneto and was pretty confused why he was part of the team all of a sudden
Season 4 pretty much became the Wolverine and Beast show guest staring one or two of the rest of the team every episode so I was fine with Beast and Logan taking a back seat in 97 so the rest of the group could get more focus. I do wish they'd shown how exactly Nightcrawler joined the team, just a couple of minutes of discussion about him wanting to join and why rather than he just is all of a sudden.
The writer was heavily involved in season 2 before the firing He just wont be there for actual production Season 3 will be when any change will be evident
It was great seeing Nightcrawler and Morph as full time members. Hopefully season 2 will give us a flashback episode so show how and why Bishop got stranded in 1997 and took refuge with the X-Men. Was odd how he was just there with no explanation, did little then went back to the future with no goodbye from anyone. Like the rest of the team barely noticed he was and wasn't there.
It was so good! I met some of the cast, like Rogue, Professor X, Nightcrawler, Cyclops and Mister Sinister. What a show this was. Best work on X-men I've seen! I remember my dad called me after episode five and was blown away by it. I can't wait for season two!
X-Men are one of my all-time favourite comic book series, not just superheroes, and I've always loved them since I was a kid. And while, as a Marvel fan, it has been fun to see Cap and Thor and Iron Man etc. get a lot of love and spotlight, seeing this show was like... If you'll excuse a slightly forced metaphor. Say that you're a fan of a subgenre of music. The main source of this music is one of two indie-record labels (who later got bought up by two of the major one each) and recently some of the smaller artists on that one label has received huge mainstream success. But the original big band, the group that got you into that subgenre and was what attracted you to that label to begin with? They've had a rough patch, been poorly treated by the label and not been as good as in their glory days. But with '97, their latest release? It's like the old guitarist finally kicked his drug-habit and is back WITH A VENGANCE, the singer-mainsongwriter for the group is better than ever and the rest of the team is just oozing and ready to go. It's the comeback of the decade. And I love it! Welcome back, X-Men! Welcome back.
One thing this show needs to improve is its pacing The plot moves a mile a minute Every episode has to end on some status quo change a d the changes are barely touched on before they are resolved Seriously season 1 probably has like 3 seasons worth of stories crammed into 1 What if Beast had gotten out of prison within 3 episodes of the original first season Could have kept Storm out of the picture longer Could have had Magneto be good for at least a full season, maybe introduce the New Mutants Also the show did whag i really hoped they wouldnt Undoing the end of the original series by bringing Xavier back Like really changing the status quo is fine but give us time to live with the change Overall a strong start but obvious room for improvement
Personally, in this day and age when most streaming shows stretch out their stories as much as possible, I loved how much happened during a course of 20-30 minutes of this show.
I agree, this shiw is the best xmen thing abd yes it aksovreplace wolverine andvthe xmen as my all tine favorite, I 100 percent feel the sane as Erod said at the end
Feel free to take this with a grain of salt but in the future could you please try to refrain from enforcing your own political ideology in the middle of your review. I came here to watch a review for the show not to see you go on long-winded rants about whatever political message you feel like pushing that week. I'm sorry but it absolutely kills my interest in actually wanting to finish the the video.
35:27 - 35:54 I wonder if they'll give Wolverine and Storm the romance they had in comics and in the original animated series during the apocalyptic future ala Days of Future Past.
The time has come to return to Earth-92131 and continue the epic story of the uncanny team of superheroes, who fight to defend a world that struggles to accept them. The time has come to continue the story of, the X-Men.
Between Spider-Man's cameo and the implication of Iceman returning for season 2, I hope we also get the return of Firestar for a Spider-Man and His Amazing Homies (wink wink) reunion.
I've seen enough of the art of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 to know that Wolverine isn't helpless without the Adamantium. He can still fashion claws out of his actual bones.
10:38 Oh, this is actually the first time I heard about this, or that she was in X-Men (2000), or X2: X-Men United. 22:49 Fun fact, Disney is actually submitting this episode for an Emmy. 27:41 Don't you mean 19 years.
Not only I agree with your theory for season 2 but I also belive we will have two X-men teams in the present: The cover-up X-men team in Australia (made of Storm, Wolverine and Morph) and either the New Mutants (lead by Jubilee and Roberto) or the X-Factor (considering how Apocalypse first apperance was in their comic book).
I know it’s probably unintentional but I always get really annoyed when ever someone tries to call the villain right, one of the best monologues in the show is when Charles was telling the Shear that Co-existence while possible is also messing and despite what people may say these days when you zoom out this have gotten better without even realizing it, so Charles while flawed was still right about the co-existence thing still love this show though ❤
It was great Nightcrawler, my favorite super hero, becoming a official member of the team. I really hope season 2 give the group new members for the group like Colossus, Magik, Psylocke and, specially Archangel and Iceman (allowing the viewers to finally have the original x-men together in the series).
I thought they brought back Xavier way sooner than I wanted… or wanted to expect. But keeping that ground battle that ends EVERY opening sequence even amongst all the interchanged parts, holding onto a prolonged absence was going to be *so* foolish.
Thankfully, I already knew about Magneto and Rogue’s relationship thanks to Linkara’s review of the Exiles comics, which featured their son Magnus from an alternate timeline.
I gotta give a ton of credit to the new cast. They sound so close to the originals while also bringing their own spin to these characters. Special credit to Ray Chase, Matthew Waterson, and AJ Locascio. Who absolutely blew me away.
I was disappointed that Archangel didn’t join the team. Scott didn’t find out Havok was his brother. My only disappointments I hate the Rogue love triangle. Magneto is too old for Rogue.

This was such an excellent show! Can't wait for season two! If I have any complaints at all, and they truly are meaningless fanboy gripes, it's that Jean briefly turning into the Phoenix in the last episode, only to loose that power again once it was over, was truly a deus ex machina. The other gripe it that, frankly, I wish somebody would finally confirm what truly happened behind the scenes that got Beau DeMayo fired. But as I said, those are truly meaningless gripes. This show really is a revival done right, and probably the biggest highlight thus far of the Multiverse Saga.
I believe Logan and Morph really do love each just not in a romantic way, but a platonic brotherly type of love. Wolverine was willing to track him down to the ends of the earth to bring him back in the original series. And let him work it out himself. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

My one biggest issue is that they kept saying humans and mutants and not that mutants are humans too, just like like anyone else with special skills, talents, and even powers in some cases. Though they did practically say it in the finale when trying to talk down Bastion. I do take a bit of an issue with one noting X-ecutioner into a dull human supremacist when he only had issue with mutant criminals and terrorists, like a hightech punisher type.
As good as the original cast did in this series, I feel a few just sounded a little too old to reprise some of their roles. For the record, I’m not trying to be ageist or anything just simply most of their voices aren’t as strong as they used to.
Actually Jubilee’s original voice actress Alyson Court thought it would’ve been more appropriate for an Asian person to play Jubilee. Her and the people at Marvel thought a white person playing Jubilee in the 90s was quite “a product of its time”. Similar reasons as to why they don’t typically have white people voice black characters anymore.
I'm sorry E-Rod but you seem to miss the point too. I'm just gonna speak personally. But the non binary concept wasn't even a thing in the 90's. It's the same as having characters say rizz in a medieval world.

You forgot to mention Rogue's big cake in TAS
