Watching this in 2022 - I grew up in my early adulthood enthralled with Vonnegut's tales and fables - today, beginning the downward ascend of my years as a middle-aged man, Kurt Vonnegut is still the fiery sword of truth for me. His words cut straight into your bones. God keep you Mr Vonnegut.
Do you see it. Vonnegut was genuinely demonized - still is. They're afraid of him to this day. He was a comedy writer, like some don't understand Nabikov was a comedy writer. Vonnegut's wit was in jest always and in good will. If you can't see that you know doodley-squat !!!
I'm sure there are better videos to go share your theories about things. This was about the state of our country under Bush right after Katrina, of which I am a survivor. Vonnegut was a prisoner of war held captive by the Germans and was in Dresden when we firebombed it. These are facts. The only ones that need to be mentioned here. And yeah, Vonnegut would not have been surprised by the evolution of America and how stupid and hateful we have become...waiting to be told what to hate.
I would agree with you and I'm glad you stopped to comment. I knew didly-squat about his kids, so I thought I would see what I could find about them. I found this great little article with some excerpts of his letters to one of his daughters (I have three) and I'm glad to see what kind of father he was. It seems he wasn't a bad one. Turns out he had three children as well with the rest being adopted. I really like the guy and share his birthday, 11/11. Thanks again for the comment. @@thinkymcthinkerton I, too, found out that at least 3 of them were adopted right after seeing this interview. Haha. I should've done my research before commenting. My comment still stands, though. Thanks for sharing the article. I'll check it out soon. Best, EP
People prolly hate that you pointed that out but yeah man, anti-natalism is an indefensible position in the first place, the added hypocrisy just makes it worse. I don't even think he himself believed that when he said it. Doesn't seem to be reflected in the writings of his that I've read, or even in other interviews, always seemed like a pro-human guy. I don't think he was a bad guy but maybe he was having a bad day, I don't know.

Great comment.
And so it goes, my friend 🖖
so it goes
If only Vonnegut could have lived another decade to witness the ascendency of Trump...
@J. A. You've never once read Vonnegut and I enjoyed your putting your ignorance on display. Saved me the trouble
J. A. Lmao Vonnegut hated capitalism have you read any of his books
Yeah, I'm surprised noone wrote the great American novel yet from all that material from the last four plus years.
I'm glad for his sake he didn't have to witness it.
Bro, if he thought the absurdity of the Bush administration was bad, he would have had an aneurysm during the Trump years.

Yeah, I agree, America is stupid and hateful. No argument here. ✌️
If Kurt could only see what we have now running the shit show
My hero
He must be rolling over in his grave at Trump. He would be utterly horrified.
bush jr rosted by Vonnegut
I've done my part as well, No Way am I reproducing !!!
Saw this nearly 16 years ago, and still holding up my role in not reproducing.
Same here! I'm not reproducing almost every night. Sometimes I'll not reproduce by myself too! 😜
How much money do I have? Doodley squat
Voter rolls of that year would be interesting how many people were killed by tsunami 2010
The only Passport that is Truly required Jesus passport...........
I like and respect Kurt & all but he suggests to stop reproducing... Laughable seeing as he has 7 children

@@empace5344 I live with my foot in my mouth. Your point was and remains a good one. Ciao!
He had three children. He adopted his sister’s children when she and her husband died, and later adopted a child with his second wife.
@@chuckaugello1115 you're really good at reading. Didn't you check out the above comments?
3 is still too many
Shame he went batsht crazy. Guy had 6 kids and multiple houses and became a talking head here for the doomsday cult of blame and stupidity.
Seems Vonnegut got most things correct so far. We are killing the planet.

He had 3 children and adopted 3 others from his dead sister.
Take your “if you don’t like this country move” bs and put it in your bum
If he was batshit crazy then the human race was the batshit that drove him to it
Get a grip. He adopted three or four / all of his sister’s kids when she died
