I love the hidden meanings and odes to the story of Icarus, The opening voice over is a lead in of the 3 “gorgon sisters” including Medusa and giving into their gaze would turn you to stone or kill you. Which foreshadows his demise. “The opening 3 lines are in lieu of Icarus’ father creating a way to a better life out of “prison” the brunette was his way to a better life, his wax wings. Gentle yet capable. “Face the sun” the blonde girl was the sun and a gorgon in a way. she ended up pulling him in the wrong direction and causing him to destroy his relationship or burning him like Icarus flying too close to the sun and destroying his wax wings. The alcohol and crash I feel is symbolism for Icarus plunging to his death in the ocean which is probably my favorite symbolic connection. And the whole “I was 17” May play a large part in being young and stupid, or naive and deflecting blame in a way. He couldn’t help him self in feeling strong and empowered. Feeling like a god or hero drove him to the choice he made which ultimately drove him into a very young demise that could have been avoided had he been older and more responsible.
I honestly just wanna thank you for this comment, I've been trying to figure out all the meanings for so long and you've made it so easy to see!!! I appreciate you!
Was the best song I heard live last year, and I saw some really great bands. Honestly incredible, the entire crowd was shouting it as loud as they could and it was such an amazing feeling of belonging.
This music video brought a different perspective to this song for me. I always seen it, for me, as a song about a kid who was sexually assaulted when he was 17. I was, cant express how much this song has helped me cope with that. Screaming "I was Seventeen" and "Break your neck" is a pretty good release.
"The idea of this song came from the Greek Mythology story and is about a person getting caught up in their own glory, living selfishly and carelessly until they eventually cause their own downfall". Luke Rockets maybe? 😳😂
I really love that With Confidence put out such creative videos like this and give the song a whole new understanding for me! Love and Loathing is genuinely such an amazing album and I'm hoping to hear it live soon!
You know that feeling you get when you watch a music video and its like it was made for you. . . Its a creepy feeling but damn i got that feeling watching this
And I heard With every emphasis you put, on every word With every lesson that you taught but never learned With every bill you had to pay with money I had earned Say you always felt the heat but never burned In your nest When you gather all your things to head out west When you check if there's still something in your chest Cause you think you really tried, you did your best To convince yourself you're good before you rest Face the sun, face the sun Face the sun and fall You'll be the one, be the one Be the one, tomorrow Please remember me, I was seventeen Break your neck, break your neck Break your neck and follow In your home (in your home) Contemplating consequences all alone (all alone) Where you think of jumping fences but you've grown And the things you have, no you don't own Held together like your wings they're on its own Face the sun, face the sun Face the sun and fall You'll be the one, be the one Be the one, tomorrow Please remember me, I was seventeen Break your neck, break your neck Break your neck and follow Break your neck, break your neck Break your neck and follow Break your neck, break your neck Break your neck and follow Break your neck, break your neck Break your neck and follow Break your neck, break your neck Break your neck, oh! I see why people are saying the verse sounds like 'aint it fun' i feel that. But if u listen to both songs, like i think only the first lines were the same. It ain't fair to say this one's a rip-off from paramore's song. They're just too different (except probably for the verse's vibes). Just wanna comment on that hehe. P.s. I love boooth bands, and always been a fan of paramore since day 1. :)
Eliza, I don’t have a dollar to my name, an acre of land, a troop to command, a dollop of fame. All I have is my honor, a tolerance for pain, a couple of college credits and my top notch brain. ❤️😉
This song hits hard af. I listened it for the first time last year, and fell in love with it. By far my favourite withcon song, alongside with Godzilla

Was the best song I heard live last year, and I saw some really great bands. Honestly incredible, the entire crowd was shouting it as loud as they could and it was such an amazing feeling of belonging.
innit , i would kill to go back to that song
For real!!! I get the same amount of energy like I did at the venue at 2:05 since that's where everyone went nuts lol. SO DAMN GOOD!!!
You got me at "Icarus" but then I noticed it was from With Confidence and THANK GOD, bless this band, they're always amazing
People think 17 year olds are so cool and go to parties and rebel but really we still ask our mom's permission to go outside
Totally me though lol
And my dad still says no 😂
Same at 21 for me hahaha
Atleast when you turn 18 you usually tell them what you're doing and if they dont object then youre good to go lmao.
I’m 18 and I still ask my mom if I can go to store
The boys are baaaack 🤘🤘
-pop punk- -princess- the boys are sad
tHE BOYS ARE SAD
@@taylorr7106 the sad are boys
Yayyyy
the boys are sad
The guy who’s doing the screams need to sing/scream more, fucking love his sound need more of him

Freya Hudson yeah possibly. Luke’s lucky he didn’t get arrested because he was sexting an underage girl.
@@michaelpritchett9856 He just fkn disappeared
Freya Hudson I saw them live and the actual meaning is much more depressing when they explained it
Freya Hudson also ini wrote the song and like rockets is a piece of shit
Freya Hudson nvm I’m thinking of here for nothing in terms of meaning but the rest was accurate
DONT CATCH ME OFF GUARD LIKE THIS I HAVE A HEART CONDITION
i hope ur okayyy
withcon is soooo underrated. this entire album is a masterpiece and i hope they get more recognition 🙏🏼
why can't they play songs like this on the radio???
right?!
I really love that With Confidence put out such creative videos like this and give the song a whole new understanding for me! Love and Loathing is genuinely such an amazing album and I'm hoping to hear it live soon!
The verses have that bouncy "ain't it fun" vibe to it.
hands down, one of the best songs i have ever seen live. the boys just got so hyped and the crowd was amazing. buzzing for whenever they tour next
THESE GUYS ARE SO UNDERRATED. THEY ARE SO TALENTED AND THEY DESERVE THE WORLD.
anyone ever think the song has deeper meaning than what they say it is? sort of like getting their emotions out with a cover up
Easily the best with con song
At first I was like this song doesn't have any message behind but then I was like it's riddled with life lessons all over the video.
SO DOPE 🌸
Yesss this was the best thing to come home to after a shit day at school
I know!! Exams had me stressing😂

To convince yourself you're good before you rest
Face the sun, face the sun
Face the sun and fall
You'll be the one, be the one
Be the one, tomorrow
Please remember me, I was seventeen
Break your neck, break your neck
Break your neck and follow
In your home (in your home)
Contemplating consequences all alone (all alone)
Where you think of jumping fences but you've grown
And the things you have, no you don't own
Held together like your wings they're on its own
Face the sun, face the sun
Face the sun and fall

Break your neck, break your neck
Break your neck and follow
And follow
I was seventeen, I was seventeen
Break your neck, break your neck
Break your neck
These boys give me the will to live honestly x
SO GLAD WE GOT A VIDEO FOR THIS ONE
my favorite song from the album
Intro always has me thinking cocky by Tillian
& his singing on the verses reminds me of Paramore Hard Times type singing
i can vibe with this
I love the guitar in this so
I don't wanna love another one band, because i have so many already, but this is so good. 💕
I see why people are saying the verse sounds like 'aint it fun' i feel that. But if u listen to both songs, like i think only the first lines were the same. Me, listening to the verse: Nice, hope they have a killer chorus tho
Me, listening to that killer chorus: Not disappointed

Okay this is actually pretty cool. I love this song so much the guitar IN THE SONG IS SO BEAUTIFUL
Paramore: ain’t it fun living In the real world?
With Con: Face the sun. Face the sun. Face the sun.
Not the same
Same chord progressions, I feel like they don’t even try to hide it
