Just got in a TF Gauge in the mail and was anxious to learn how to use it. Your instructional video made the process much easier. My Mofi Studiodeck needed an ever so slight adjustment and now its dead nuts! Thanks Ian for saving me some time and head scratching!

Hi Ian, well explained! Good job! Another reason why it is important to remove the felt mat is that the weight should be measured at the level of an actual record. Thanks for sharing! Armien
AudiophileLaws Dear Armien, oh yes! Thank you for pointing that out and sharing with all our fellow friends :-) yes.. the digital gauge introduces its own thickness :-O so you are right: remove the mat!!! Hahaha! Thank you brother!.. Greetings from Singapore, Ian.
Tony Abreu It's okay Mr Abreu! Have a good day ahead! :-) have fun spinning your vinyl records! May vinyl playback bring more and more joy to the masses... Best Regards, Ian.
I have a few vintage cartridges with a aftermarket stylus. I wonder if I go by the replacement stylus reccomend tracking force orby what the cartridge manufacturer says. They are different. The new stylus says to track at a higher tracking force than what the cartridge manufacturer suggests. Original replacement styluses are no longer made. I really enjoy your videos. Ha e a great day.
If I have the tracking force gauge, do I really need to float the tonearm first? Can't I just set everything to zero, then use the gauge to get to the 1.75 by adjusting the counterweight, and then setting the tracking force and anti skate to 1.75?
Dear Buddy :-D sorry for missing this message from you. I apologize to you. Yes, brother, the Rega cartridge. The Nagaoka MP-110 performs better than the Rega Elys2, and very close to the Exact2 cartridge. Thank you my friend!!!! Again, my apologies... Warmest Regards, ~ ian
Thank you very much for this video! One question pls: On 2:47sec you set the anti skating at zero. After you finished with the tracking force what did you do with the anti skating? My Rega RB300 has a scale on it from 0 to 2. Must leave it on zero or must adapted it according to the weight which we have put on the cart e.g. 1.75g??? Thanks for your time!
+shutdown66star Dear Friend :-D, always need to set anti-skating force to zero, prior to establishing correct stylus tracking force :-). After establishing the desired/correct stylus tracking force, tune/dial-in your anti-skating force to about 1.75 on the scale of 0-2, if your stylus tracking force is 1.75g. This is the conventional method and most easily acceptable method. Best Regards and may you have a great time listening to your vinyl records! Ian.
Buddy, these are mostly OEM products, and you can buy it from most ebay/amazon sources. Mine works very well and gives consistent good results. Hope you enjoy your vinyl discovery journey!!
Help! I am fairly new to the world of vinyl and don’t want to mess up my records. Setting up my new fluance currently. I’ve balanced the tone arm to a good parallel line and now I’m trying to adjust the tracking force and anti skate. When ever I adjust the counterweight to 1.5 the tone arm i just balanced just dives down and does not stay level anymore. Is this normal?
Dear Buddy Michael, i had recently :-D made a video on how to adjust the anti-skating on the P1 so as to fit on and cater to the Nagaoka MP-110. Have fun, have fun!!!!
AT THE END I FOUND THE REAL VIDEO HOW TO SETUP ANTI SKATING TO ZERO...hu hu..so pitty me.. This video is easy to UNDERSTAND than the video from regas it self..2my stylus has broken before,elys2 n exact, before i find this video...BETTER LATE THAN NEVER..HELL YEARGHHH

I have one of these and when I do a gentle tap on the cartridge after I've lowered it, it always increases the weight by 0.1g which is quite a lot!

What do you think of that Rega cartridge in comparison to the cartridges you have reviewed? Which cartridge is better than this?

the Rega cartridge.

Hello Ian. What brand of digital tracking force do you use & where may I purchase? Thank you

When you put stylus on gauge is the tone arm leaver in up position?

Hello ian, where would be the best location on the platter to set the guage on, and get an accurate reading? Thanks.
Hi there. Is there another way to set the correct tracking force manually without using a digital stylus gauge?
Buddy, :-D yes there is, it is the Shure SFG-2 Stylus Force Gauge. Have fun :-D!!! Catch up again anytime.
Thank you so much Ian for your response. Greetings from Greece!
Do you place the scale over the plate or mat?
What if i can’t turn off Anti skating? Am i screwed? I have the Rega Planar 2. 🤔
Dear Buddy Michael, i had recently :-D made a video on how to adjust the anti-skating on the P1 so as to fit on and cater to the Nagaoka MP-110. Have fun, have fun!!!!
