I suggest you to try Poco w/ the Pixel's Camera App.
Yes that's true, the Google camera port significantly improves image quality (though even the stable version lags a bit). And while there is still a different to the 6/6T, it at least makes the Pocophone a camera you can trust to not mess it up.
Try not to use Poco when charging. If there's urgent matter, try not to video call. Many Poco users complaint about bleeding edge screen.

To be fair, all Android phones will eventually get a chance to use the Pixel camera apps thanks to devs like B-S-G.
Poco just has first mover advantage thanks to how similar it is to the Mi 8, which B-S-G experimented with first for the Pixel 3 app.
For now, many other phones can already use the Pixel 2 app.

Very nice video! I was able to get my mother a $300 (USA) brand new original Pixel XL (though the manufacturer date was July 2017).
The biggest factor was camera and support for her Verizon-based carrier (Page Plus).
Still, even for me, it's a better value assuming the battery does well enough. The build, AMOLED screen, and camera really set it apart, but I see the value of the Poco with battery, newest SD845, and future updates. Your review seems to really do a good job highlighting those strengths.

Let's be honest here - You spend $220 more on the OP6T because they are trying to recover the marketing costs from you. I live in India and the Poco F1 sold $25 million worth of phones in just 10 minutes or so after launch! There were no celebrity endorsements, no BS paid youtube reviews or articles, no massive city centre hoardings or hype. OnePlus in comparison spent tens of millions on marketing for the 6T. Yeah, the OnePlus flagships are more refined but that refinement does not cost $220. They are just milking your wallet with brand and marketing. I'm not even going into the Samsung or Apple territory - that is a whole different level of deception. The POCO F1 basically exposed the BS hype that all these brands are selling you. No wonder it attracts so much (paid) criticism.

The phone comes with a liquid cooling copper strip - something that the 'good quality', 'premium' OnePlus 6T does not have. To say that the POCO F1 heats up is a joke. SAR value is 1.6 W/kg which is well within limits. JerryRigsEverything and several other folks have done teardown of the POCO and have given a thumbs up to design and quality. Xiaomi phones easily last 2-3 years if not more - marketing of the OnePlus makes you think that its 'better quality', but that is only a perception with which most people are easily fooled. It is clear that you went to a 3rd grade engineering college and that you are pissed off about OnePlus ripping you off. Now you want to make yourself happy with this crap that you yourself cooked up. Sorry, OnePlus does not give refunds! Your money is gone :D

I'm sticking with the OnePlus device (I'm using) because I'm getting at least 3 major Android updates, regular security updates and quick bug fixes. I don't have anything against the poco F1 but it's simply not for me. Hope this helps 👍

People loved iphone 2g even if it was the 1/2in thick... there are people who use phones as phones and not as a jewelleries .. Apart from speed, camera and battery(that this phone have) all the rest features comes secondary to most of the user... This phone shine in what it promises to be and yes i would love to see more phone in this category that cut on minor features and emphasize on major ones... And speaking for the only flagship... Well i have seen more people switching from iphones or samsung s series to budget phone.. Hell my brother carry a s9 and xiomi note 4 because s9 dont last a day and note 4 lasts 2-3 days with a single charge... Beauty that comes through cutting/removing features or battery should be called beautyphones as these decision are rather dumb instead of smart...

You focused mainly on a corner cuts but the vast majority of the downsides of this model are so minor that you probably wouldn't find unless you are so eager. The main question for you was what is the better phone from Poco F1 in this price range?
In my opinion, you notice more of a difference between the F1 and the 6T then you do between the 6T and the Note 9 for example, that says something too. I wouldn't call build quality, the display and the camera minor. That's pretty much everything except performance. But as I said, unless you want to spend over $500, get the F1.
@@BrianAlex And Note 9 is in a 1000$ price range which is madness or for people without price constrains. And you don't get half the value more for the price. Even with One+ you don't get 30% more for additional 70% in price hike. Yes the camera could be better especially in low light but I tried to overcome it by using Pixel 3 camera app for night mode. All in all majority of users can be satisfied with the camera for the price. My previous phone was Nokia 1020 and belive me beside P20 no other phone has near as good camera but the OS is so bad that I had to update my phone, so my decision was to go with a Poco. In addition to that I've been using One+ one as a second phone from 2014.
I mean, at that point you could also say you don't get 200% more value out of buying the Poco instead of a 100€ phone. Performance is important, especially in the mid range, but just a Snapdragon 845 doesn't make flagship.
@@BrianAlexFlagship isn't midrange. So if you consider F1 a midrange than it is obvious that you can't do better in this category. Flagship is MiMix 3 for example. Is it better to give 300$ for F1 or 200$ for A2? The result is obvious. I don't know the reason of giving double or triple the money in exchange for 30 to 50 % better performance. If you take better design into account than you might consider some exceptions like Find X.
No, you can't do better than the F1 in the mid range price category, that's what I said. But I think spending more can still be worth it. I got the impression that many people think the F1 is the be all end all, and that's just not the case.

They fixed the notch notification problem with MIUI 10 (Android 9)
With the latest update, the pocophone can record 1080p960fps
Why many of you miss about the liquidcooling and infrared face unlock at that price you missed it dude the liquidcooling provides a constant frame rate while gaming and where 6t dose get slightly more fps but fluctuates
After OnePlus released 6T, there were so many hate videos for Poco... This started to be that but the end was kind of acceptable but We need to understand the price difference and stop comparing it with 6T which is way costlier...
Way costlier is a bit of a stretch but yeah was in two minds which phone to get.

An amoled display does cost a lot compared to an ancient LCD panel. Beside you're getting one of the best chargers out of the box, better finishing, a much higher clocked snapdragon 845 and better cameras, more efficient cooler. These has added values. Phones are not about 6/8 GB rams and socs. C'mon
@@nazmulfahad3044 But Price is something and everything for Many... If a device costs 1.8 times that of another and doesn't improve on anything then that price is not justified... As a matter of fact the clock speeds are the same except for the small cores where Poco has an edge (by 0.1 GHz) and cooling is comparatively better in Poco... Camera is now a days not much to compare about, I have a $100 3 year old device and I have GCam installed in it and the photos I take can't be beaten by any stock camera photos even from a $200 phone... Photos are more inclined towards software and hardware makes much less sense now a days (You can easily install GCam in Xiaomi devices including Poco as Camera 2 API is enabled by default now)...
So now the difference is now just the screen (definitely AMOLED), the design & build (many do prefer plastic as its more durable and also a case will clear the physical difference) and the Battery (Poco has a longer Battery Life of about a couple of hour and 6T charges faster by about an hour so are those comparable)... Software is personal preference and even if You don't like MIUI (Give it a try man, it has improved a lot and is better that stock in many cases) then there is a really strong development of Stock Custom ROMs in XDA which is on par with OxygenOS's performance and has way more customisation...
So are those minor improvements worth going for 6T while You can get 2 Pocos for that price...

Poco F1 gave many customers with budget restraints the ability to get the feel of a flagship quality phone. It didn't make the other flagship phones of bigger companies obsolete or something as there's still difference between things like S9 and Poco F1. However that difference isn't significant for many users and would likely ignore it given the huge price difference between them.

there are only 2 real disadvantages at this price... the Notch is huge... they could even cut cost if they didnt include a notch....

I think you don't understand screen bleeding. What you see on that shot is not screen bleeding. Screen bleeding is only visible in certain scenarios like gray color or black scene with max brightness. There is no way you see screen bleeding through a camera and your device if it not specifically filmed that way that they want to show you the screen bleeding issue

What you consider to be a drawback may actually be a huge advantage, as long as you are not planning to change your device every 2 years. If you'd investigate a bit, you would find out that the back of this phone is very easily removed. That and removing a couple of lego style connectors allows you to remove & replace the phone's battery. This means that by the time your galaxy device wont even get to the end of the day (2 years, more that 600 charge cycles) youd only need to pay 15 bucks & 15min of your time to get your F1 like day 1. Also, this (truly) unassuming plastic back will definitely not shutter to 1000 pieces if you drop your phone, just like any other modern flagship (=$500 if you are into iphones btw). The LCD screen on this device is actually not bad at all but even if this is not your cup of tea, you should keep in mind that it will stay the way it is for years to come. Not the case for OLEDs as you probably know, because burn-in is not a matter of if but of when. Blue leds have a much shorter life span that green ones, so it's pretty much inevitable. After using smartphones non stop since 2006 (remember windows CE?) & being conscious about the processing power modern smartphones have, I personally refuse to change my phone every 2 years. Probably not your case though..

I am student and i can't afford so called big budget flagship smartphones, I am really glad with what POCO F1 has to offer perfectly fitting in my budget without sacrificing on processor power. Its good enough for photography and if one has decent knowledge in Photoshop any camera you give that person will be great lol, and if poco f2 gets launched with just processor upgrade to Snapdragon 855 and everything remaining the same I will still buy it !
I don't know why these reviewers even compare Poco to smartphones twice or thrice the price, compare it to phones that fall in poco's price range like honor play etc...

Buying this phone will depend on user preference- if you like playing games on your phone this is a good buy. But if you like taking photos and videos stick with the flagships like the Pixel or the latest Iphones. Me personally, I like a phone with a very good camera but sadly the Pixel is not available in my country that's why I'm using a Note 8 and it is a beast of phone too! Loving it!

I've been using Poco for last 2 months. I still got no problems. PUBG is super smooth in high res. No lagging.
poco f1 should be compared to something like honor 10, not one plus 6, its unfair..
The phone works much better after miui 10 update and the camera is too good if you use pixel camera. The screen is also decent for the price n battery is one of the best among sd 845 SoC phones.The manual mode of stock camera also works great. Sound is great while playing games like Pubg.I bought the 128gb rossos red variant for jus 306$ and I'm totally satisfied with this amazing phone!
This is a breakthrough phone from consumer point of view. With Google camera app port camera also becomes Reliable. At that price point it makes me think that flagship phones costs a lot much but doesn't improve that much.
What disappoints me the most when a xiaomi device is presented, not specifically in this video but in almost all of them, is that usually there is no mention of the miui good/bad points, especially all those shady permissions from apps you cant even uninstall. People can't make an informed decision based just on hardware.
The only thing thats making me not want to buy this phone is the corners, they're are too rounded

I am using the poco f1 as my daily driver and i don't really have any complains. The hd streaming problem for netflix and amazon will be fixed through an OTA update by the end of january. Also, the problem with notifications not being visible fill be fixed soon. The plastic build doesn't really bother me and i would say that for it's price, this is the best you could get.

Have you tried custom ROMs yet? Pixel experience or Bootleggers is a good way to start. I personally love Bootleggers customisation options.

As a OnePlus 6 user i used Poco F1. It surely is a beast but miui and plastic build quality kills it for me. I hope they fix the L3 issue with Poco F2. 🤗It surely isn't a phone for people with flexible budget.
Xiaomi is still working with Google and Qualcomm to fix widewine on the F1 itself, so we may have a fix but can't really say anything about it rn
Hold it in you hands and experience the real quality of poco. Its not the plastic that bends so easily and miui 10 is way better improved than 9.
A good news for poco users is that we will get p and q updates for sure nd it was told by the chief manager of pocoindia on his twitter acc.
I've got both op6 and Poco F1 and I don't get how people even try to compare these 2... OnePlus6 is a premium flagship device where everything on the phone is made without making compromises. Where Poco is solely oriented towards making the SD845 Affordable. A better build, screen, cameras, proper certificates and no manufacturing defects in poco would also bring it to a $450+ price point. Take the Mi8 or something if you really want a comparison.

Honestly all I care about is performance and a working camera. Not a fan of any phone's instagram-ready post processing anyway. This reminds me so much of one plus. Just pure specs. What else could you need ? :)
Also, please annotate the fact that the Widevine L1 issue will actually be solved soon through an update. This was announced officially by Xiaomi. Please do your homework a little bit better, please. Not to mention the fact that the Google Camera 6.1 app pretty much solves the camera problem for this phone. It currently takes better pictures than the iPhone X.
As far as my information goes, Xiaomi has announced they will fix it, yes, but the phone is missing secure keys than can't be added with an update as far as I know. So unless they can circumvent that, they will not fix it. And I tried the Google camera app, it's better, but still not as good as OnePlus and definitely not as good as the iPhone X.

That's not true. I confirmed this with a DRM tester on the stable MIUI 10 that's out now (or you can also just tell by watching Netflix). Hopefully Pie will address this, I won't hold my breath though.

@@BrianAlex It's on the BETA (Pie), not the stable one, and not even sure if it's been released to the main beta audience. Also, I dunno which version of the camera app you tried, but the 6.1 v1A Pixel camera on the POCOPHONE objectively takes better pictures than the iPhone X. Better dynamic range, better contrast and details, better colors. I spent half an hour comparing the shots with a friend who has the aforementioned Apple product, and we were both amazed. Sure, it IS cheating a little bit, because the Pixel camera app is not nearly as snappy, it involves TONS of software processing which ARE draining the battery way more than the stock app, and you can only take a couple of pictures before you need to return to the review and then back to the camera in order for the buffer not to freeze the app. But the fact of the matter is, if you want the shot, you can totally have it, right there, in your palms, using a phone that costs less than 1/3 of the price.
I have a doubt .. why foreign pocophone has pocophone written on it's back and Indian models only poco on their back and foreign poco (the product ) looks more premium.

I'm pretty sure you're wrong on the camera part, it has a sony IMX363 sensor, the same the pixel 3 does and you can get the pixel 3 camera apk if you have a installed a custom rom on it making it essentially the same as the pixel 3. Also unlocking the bootloader doesn't void the warranty.
This is just a review, not a long term review.

These devices only cost the manufacturers ~200$ to make if I remember seeing something about how much it costs Apple to manufacture an iPhone. Don't know how much an Android phone costs, but the reason they sell these for so cheap is because they don't do advertising or anything. People pay for the brand when it comes to Apple and Samsung.

i think the curse with the pocophone f1 is that its so good that people end up comparing it to a oneplus 6t. and even pricyer phones.
but honestly the camera. with google camera port. its just. wow. its so great. on some points its as good as the s9! and it has even better dynamic range!!! :O but on others it may lack. but not far behind. truly insane when thinking of the price. though videos arent as good.

@@nicholaswee3573 the standard camera app takes some fine photos in daylight. but at dark the quality isnt as good. this is where the google camera app just boosts it up. now on custom roms on android pie you even get the new night sight! it can definetly compete with the galaxy s9 in daylight. at night i didnt try. yet. but the camera rocks! thats all you need to know :)

I get that you guys want to show suport for Xiaomi and it's phones, but there is no reason to lie about you ditching far superior phones in every way to buy a F1.

Also for those.who want a 3.5mm jack, a SD card slot and a crazy battery life.
For photo just use the pixel 3 camera APK (poco has same main camera as pixel 3), and you get one of the very best camera.
6t is about 70% more expensive (I compare here 128gb Poco price to the 6t price)......to me it's not justified.
Poco f1 is in the same design logic as the OnePlus One......just doing it even better than my good old Oneplus one and Oneplus 3t.

Well, I wouldn't call this a rant. This is not what this was supposed to be. I try to emotionally detach myself from how I feel about a device and just see what speaks for and against it. Very unlike the people here in the comments that call the phone a "beast" in general.

Wrong, the photocamera uses the same sensor of the google pixel 3, and with the gcam apk you can get flagship-like photos.

This phone was specifically made for Indian region. Super beast this is. BTW it would a killer if it had android one! But no regrets at this price point.
Just stop with the comparisons to the OnePlus please . It is a decent phone but even Xiaomi top specs are not in the same league as the 6t. Yes it has an 845 chip but it does not have the Oxygen software and this is what you are paying for in the OnePlus and it is the software which compliments the chip and vice versa. I am tired of people comparing the OnePlus to either much higher price range phones but for people to compare it to a £260 phone and say well it's not as good as the 6t in this or that regard is just excruciating . The OnePlus is the best phone and it is lower than £500 and people need to realise just how much great tech they are getting for that. The OS software is the best around. I don't even own one but can see this and it is as if people are expecting to be able to buy another brand phone for £260 and have the right to expect a similar experience ?? You are getting a lower spec Xiaomi and not a 6t so don't hold your breath expecting it to compete.
A word about poco after using for 2 months... I agree that the back camera isn't that amazing, I were some blurring when taking landscape photos at times, and yes at night some photos are quite grainy to the point of being unusable. However, disregarding the price point, processing speed and transitions are comparable if not exceed the most expensive commercial phones, simply watch some videos comparing to iphone max xs, note 9 etc. The screen resolution is pretty good too

I have had the phone for a few months now, and I actualy chose this over the oneplus 6. The reason for that is that the pocophone have specs the 6 don't and that I care about.
I wanted the larger battery, and also the possibility to use my sd-card from my last 2 phones. And last, the headphone-jack.
I feel that when they made this phone, that they cut the right corners.. they didn't sacrifice what is really important with a phone: that it can perform everyday tasks above average.
I reccomend you try a custom ROM like Pixel Experience or LineageOS and install the Google Pixel ported camera app and enjoy a Pixel 3 for 500-600 less

Bought 2 a black and a blue one with 128gb storage. No screen bleeding at all and no problems.
I regret buying poco. I play only pubg on it and when i bought it i played on HD resolution and now a month later i need to play on lowest settings because on HD the framerate is so low. It has many bugs. For example i can't remove notch in game because the black line blocks the part of the game, i can't use my michropone when using bluetooth headphones and the worst thing is ghost touch, oh my god. Only a month and this shit came. And i'm sure if i used poco for another month i'd get screen bleeding. So if you are a gamer don't buy that shit. Only if you want to learn your lesson when trying to get something "good" very cheaply. Now i can't decide whether i would buy huawei mate 20pro or samsung galaxy s9+. I think ill go with s9+. Bye bye pocophone, you won't be missed.

The camera used in the poco is the same on the google pixel 3. Try installing the gcam and you would be surprised.
I have both Samsung S9+ and Pocophone F1, both are great but each have their own strengths and Weaknesses.
I use my Pocophone mainly on games and while traveling, great battery life AND signal pick up. Wouldnt hurt much if lost or stolen.
S9+ for the Camera and my main contact phone. Doesn't have as much juice as Pocophone, nor charges as fast as the poco does
I don’t buy phones every year. I buy one in say 3-4 years. I’m using the same iPhone 6 from 2015. So for me, even though the 6T is significantly more expensive, if I consider the fact that it’s something I’ve to live with for 3-4 years I’ll pass on this pocophone, it just doesn’t excite me enough to spend 3-3 years with.
I have a Galaxy S7. The battery life is not up to my demands and I just don't like the bloatware. Do you think the Pocophone does better in these aspects? PS I was in Berlin 2 weeks ago. Will definitely go again next summer!
In regards to battery life definitely. But if bloat already bothers you on Samsung you're not gonna be content with this unless you flash a rom.
The camera quality isn't great when you compare it with phones like OP6 that are way above it's price segment .
In $300 segment no other phone can beat it . With GCam you can get decent low light photos too .
Don't like MIUI ? This one has unlocked bootloader so get a lineage os.
