You look amazing! I can definitely see a difference in the twirl, and your hair looks beautifully soft and shiny, along with your skin. The fact that you've faced difficulties with the cake but not let it derail you makes you an inspiration to all of us, particularly those who share your issues with food and control. Keep up the fantastic work ♥️
Thank you Katharyn, it is so difficult isn't it!! Usually I would just spend the rest of the day over-eating or bingeing on other high fat and high sugar foods once I'd had one slip up and often order loads of food from Deliveroo and literally eat thousands more calories so to me that day was actually a success. Hugs to you xxxx C
@1940sExperiment I'm exactly the same, one slip always leads to thousands of calories and then a week of feeling ashamed of myself. What you achieved that day was an incredible personal win 🏆
You look fantastic! You're glowing. And about the cake issue: I have been diagnosed with binge eating disorder in the past and wrote to you about my succesful weight loss before. Part of that was therapy for the BED! I succesfully concluded my therapy 3 years before I was capable to start losing weight without the all or nothing mindset. So given that you're already losing weight, you are doing great! And I promise it gets easier, I bake full size treats every week but AM capable by now of taking just one slice a day. I believe you will get here too, you are definitely on the way! ❤️
yes, I remember and to achieve what you have done is absolutely amazing as I damn well know how hard that is!!! I just can't imagine life where taking just one slice of cake a day is achievable but you are living testament to that, well done. There is hope! C xxxxx
I first found your channel as I love the 1940s, but this is so much more! Thank you for the inspiration and your courage in sharing so honestly. My favourite quote that I have in the front of my journal is 'We conquer by continuing.' (by George Matheson). So simple, yet truer words were never spoken - it always reminds me to just keep putting one foot in front of the other and though the journey may be long, it will be successful if I just keep going. I have the same problem with snacks/sugar as you do. If it is not in the house, that is fine, but I find it very difficult to just have one piece if there is more just sitting there. We can do it! I find that picking up my vintage knitting and putting something on Britbox or Acorn will manage to distract me. I am so looking forward to continuing to follow your journey. 🥰
Yay!!! I knew it’d been a good month the minute the video started. You are glowing, you look fabulous! Never mind the cake, you didn’t let it slip you up! And the twirl gets better every month. Well done. 💜
Awwww thank you so much!!! I think my webcam is a bit more forgiving than my regular camera!! haha but I honestly do feel much healthier. My GP's surgery nurse is really thrilled with my progress as I do a monthly weigh-in there too! C xxxx
Good for you. You remind me that baking isn't a good idea unless it's one portion. Someone gave me boxed up fudge and I brought it to a group setting had one bit and left the rest for the men to snack on the next week. I can see changes in you. Glad you have stuck with it even with life changes. At 63 I have some pain, it is part of life, but you'll be more mobile and lighter on your feet will make a big difference. Cheering you on from far away!
Congratulations. Never mind about the cake, it was a learning experience. I make a sweet treat every weekend, like bread and butter pudding and we eat it by Sunday.
Oh my goodness! Well I can see a difference . You're positively glowing. Well done. You're inspiring me to give it a go. I'm the same with crisps and salty foods as you are with cake. Well done for keeping it contained to that one moment !
I don't know you in real life so my opinion counts for nothing but you are such a dear lady and I am so very proud of you! Please know I'm praying for you and am in your corner ❤
Congratulations! It's so nice to see you again, and you look amazing! Keep holding your head up high, you are making so much progress. Please, are you able to increase the audio on your end? Your voice is so soft and I want to hear your every word. Thank you so much.
As soon as I saw your face, I could see a difference, Carolyn! And there's a difference in the "twirl," too. Congratulations to you on your hard work and dedication! I love to see it. ~ Melanie 🧡
You look wonderful my dear! I noticed the difference right away. Your eyes are so bright and sparkly and I do think your face looks slimmer. I just love your content.
Congratulations on your weight loss-nearly 2 stone gone! Glad you weren’t too hard on yourself over the cake, cause it’s important to remember it’s not the fall that matters it’s how quickly we get back up again.
I hear you on addictive foods. For me, it's salty crunchy foodlike substances. I don't bring them into the house. If I really want crisps or other snack, I have to go and buy it! I buy one small packet, find a place to sit down and eat half. My husband usually comes with me and he eats the other half. If he isn't with me, I close the packet when I've eaten half, take it home, and give it to him. If there's a family size bag of salty crunchy things in the house, I will eat the lot and look for more!
This is such a good idea Suz! It is realizing your boundaries/limitations and finding a way that works for you. I think I will have to be exactly the same when I return to eating the odd bag of crisps again next year! Well done! C xxxxx
I have heard of people having joint pain as a result of covid - sign of low level inflamation. Night shades could aggrevate that so maybe check if eating fewer of these might help with the pain
Hello, I found you on UA-cam a week ago. Got very interested. I'm 54 and weighs 90 kg. I live in Sweden. I'm about to jump on the diet and wonder if you could list for me the foods that were rationed and the amounts for one person. Thankyou and thanks for nice vlogs. Carina in Sweden
Dear Carina, thanks for following my journey! You can find loads of resources on my website at www.the1940sExperiment.com but also I have a download that should really help you get started HERE: the1940sexperiment.com/2022/06/05/living-on-ww2-rations-experiment-free-download/ Good luck xxx C
This is a fascinating experiment. I know you will succeed in many ways. Do you have a RAW cookbook? I bought one ages ago and realized that you can make raw things taste just like comfort-food dishes.
Thank you and YES I do have some raw cookbooks, the original one I bought 10 or so years ago was Mimi Kirk, Live Raw xxxxx At one stage I was tempted to go fully raw but I do love my warm, cooked food too but learned such a lot from this book xxxx hugs
Well done on the weight loss ! Fabulous achievement. I too find it impossible to eat just 1 of a treat, It is really annoying, should I eat a piece of chocolate magically the bar is gone, and the cravings kick in for more. Ive started keeping nothing but pop corn on hand, so far its working touch wood :D
You are doing great! I’m like you. I’d eat the whole cake. I make individual desserts also or if I make something bigger I give most away or I’ll eat the whole thing.
Same then!!! I think eating one whole cake every few months is not so bad in the bigger scheme of things. Whilst I'd love to have more control if I accept that is just the way i am and have coping mechanisms such as you have expressed, then all is good I think! xxx C
Really weird as this is what I thought I'm going to do today. I did not know anything about u until I was looking for war time recipes and came across you. I thought they were all slim then. Fit as a fiddle. How much weight did u loose?
I always await your updates. You may not see it, but we do. Your dress zips up all the way. Your belly has gone down. Your shape is better. I'm sure lifting your feet is easier now too. It is for me. I started at 318 lbs. Currently at 210 lbs.
Well done. There's definitely more difference in the twirl. I can see your belly and bum are smaller. As to treats, I can't have them in the house as if I know they are there they get opened and of course the bag/box has to be eaten all up.
