Nah I feel for the team mate in the last one. He probably just wanted the win, and didn't really want to have to 1v1 if he could help it. Maybe he was having a rough session and it just looked like Leth was trolling. Honestly having a team mate leave happens to everyone on a regular enough basis. So you just try and take the dubs when that happens to the other team. Might not be sportsmanlike but it all evens out in the end. Maybe he was unable to type (console) or didn't have the Nooooo quick chat to hand to communicate that he didn't want the 1v1.
yep, exactly. they play ranked to rank up at that level, and a teammate throwing the game like that is turning a free win into a frustrating 3 minutes of 1v1
But he could’ve used “take the shot” or “go for it” or “all yours” or something like that to signal it? Not just the Nooo or to actually type. I’m Diamond 3 but in EU and when that happens I do what Leth does, we 1v1 the opponents but we take turns (me and my teammate). Once I got a smurf champ 2 in my lobby that beat us at 1v1 but we accepted it, although he forfeited at the end and we won, even tho it was like 9-5 for him.
Yeah same. like i feel bad for the guy that lost his teammate, but everyone who plays team modes had to deal with that at some point. I'd rather just finish that game quickly. I'm fine with Leth doing this series, but slightly annoying when he joins the enemy team or stuff like that. The reply above me tho is a nice idea, taking turns 1v1'ing and stuff.
Edit, i said that before that game. I see he did say 1v1, but the teammate didn't exactly agree, so idk
I feel like a lot of people in threes don't realise you often have a teammate nearby covering balls that spill out. So when you are a little awkward, you can just leave the play and rotate to third man. One of your teammates will likely be ready to step up and get stuck in. In twos this is much riskier and it is often beneficial to harass the opponent a bit so your teammate can complete his rotation.
So your teammate can complete their* rotation.
I think just keep queueing as you are… when you get to higher ranks, eventually you’ll start getting more 3s queues naturally because of player density on higher ranks… Also, this could be good so that half of the games are higher ranked and the other ones are lower. Ps : Love the vids Leth.

Honestly if a player leaves still play just don't go full bore! It's mildly infuriating when you just let others score on your teammate( this is coming from a GC )
i think the issue with that last game is that in the lower ranked lobbies, they play ranked to improve and to rank up. So throwing a 2v1 is throwing away a free division rank up. if they wanted to play casually or just to have fun, they would play casual lobbies. That's why he tried to ff.

Hey Leth! It's pretty BM in the lower ranks to not just win 2v1s and move on. I and many others in plat/diamond ranks get pretty heated when some nerd tries to turn an early match leave into a 1v1 or something stupid like that

the difference between Leth and real Smurf is, that Leth tries people to improve their game and learn stuff while Smurfs getting clapped in higher ranks and they just wanna boost their little egos. A real Smurf in this Lobby would go for Air Dribbles and Flip Resets and stuff like that...and ofc they trashtalk all the time about how easy the game is

offering the 1 in the 2v1 a 1v1 is not what happens in ranked games, to keep it authentic you need to make the other guy want to leave as soon as possible

show some good sport for the enemy team. they also want to have fun. i just sit in net and wait for something to happen. sometimes, i practice chain wave dashes while the match is playing so that's that
I ask for a 1v1 but my 1s rank is a lot higher than my 2s so I beat them and they do most of the time lmao

"Is this what 1s is like at the lower ranks" yes and no, in actual 1s players are generally more careful, but when a 2v2 ends up in a 1v1 it usually devolves into chaos
Also, yes, he was being toxic, again welcome to the lower ranks where teammates really get mad at you for not being ssl level 😂

Hey Leth, quick tip. If we in the lower ranks would want to play 1v1, we'd queue 1v1. I'd also forfeit if my tm8 just starts spectating, no matter if it's a 2v1 or not. I do not wanna play 1s, that's why I queue 2s. From his pov you just started throwing for no apparent reason. The other guy was abandoned and yeah that's not fair, but that doesn't mean I want to play 1v1, that's not fair to me, when I queued 2s.
Do 3v3 more often. 2s is relatively easy to learn how to play while 3s is a bit more complex and (in my opinion) fun
Hello Leth, i have a suggestion : maybe you can make this in a new playlist or include it in this one, the idea is before each episode you pick a random replay from that rank review it and explain mistakes that peoples make in that rank.
Watching this has me completely convinced I'm being smurfed on relentlessly in D3 2s. If I played guys like this all the time I'd be in Champ ages ago. I'm having to constantly defend against flip resets and backboard reads almost every game. The fact I can't flip reset in D3 has made me feel behind the curve now, it's ridiculous.
Yeah, I feel the same. Every game I have players who airdribble and double touch backboard against me. 😅 I prolly need to be more patient tho, I throw a lot of winnable games.
Earlier in the same episode Leth said that you can't use a 1v1 to determine who is better in 2v2's and then later in the episode when someone quits he's just like, oh, guess it's time for 1v1 in 2's. I solo queue a lot and have been abandoned by my fair share of tm8's so I know that at least around the ranks that Leth is currently playing, you don't see people not taking advantage of a 2v1. Like you might not see both enemies play as hard as they normally would, but at least you'd see the person who should go for kickoff go for it and then one person will sit in net making sure to block everything. It won't be one person playing and the other watching. I hope Leth sees this so he can start playing at least somewhat normally in situations where a player abandons instead of just practically abandoning himself because I put myself in the shoes of his tm8 and I'd be so annoyed that it might actually ruin RL for that night for me.
Yeah but, they other never signed on for a 1v2 my night would be saved if someone finally gave the courtesy I give when one of my opponents quits early.
This is the first time I've ever seen someone get so upset by this actually and even get ggs sometimes so...
@@CaitofFate would be nice if I ever received that courtesy but every time I've ever had a tm8 leave, I don't get the courtesy of a fair game. I'd appreciate it if my tm8 didn't give our current opposition a courtesy I myself never receive. It might be different at higher ranks, I am diamond 1 or plat 3 depending on the day so I can't say anything for ranks higher than that, but leth is playing in diamond currently so I find my opinion valid for his situation.

I’ve learned a lot about positioning from these videos. I was hard stuck gold but im consistent plat and slowly climbing now.

I think to keep it balanced you should just force 2 games of each mode in each episode. You'll have the balance you look for and becasue they are already apart, you can have each video appeal to two different types of audience, more and less experienced.
The more advance can refresh the basics and core positioning and the rookies can learn more complex things too.
edit: Left the comment before I watched the whole thing and the placements. Now the rank is now that far apart by I still stand by what I said about keeping two games of each :)

The last couple seasons in 3s I’ve been plat 3 but this season I’ve been stuck in gold 3 sometimes plat 1. It’s crazy.
I did a double take when I checked to see the rank Leth was playing at right now. Diamond three. Are you kidding me!? The only thing I have in common with this match is people leaving for almost nothing or even when they’re ahead. The rage quits are a massive headache. But also, in fairness to the rage quitter, I think he was the better player on his team and he recognized pretty quickly there was no way in hell he was gonna win that game and rather than trying educate himself and get better just plain quit. The other thing here is the massive skill difference that I see in my D3 games versus this game. It’s totally normal in D3 games to see ceiling resets, flip resets, flicks of all kind, dribbles, and then the crazy miss out of nowhere. It’s truly like the lack of consistency just kills you.

Lots of overcommits in lower rank 1v1. Some people are just playing to practice offense/shadow defense etc and don't really care about winning or losing.

its insane how wildly different the games you get are than the games I get in diamond ....not even close to the same players , and plat is worse than diamonds on the insane skill gaps , plat is harder than diamond and diamond is harder than champ .... its backwards .... almost feels like scripted games they are SOOOOOOO different

I think with these road to SSL series, the pros are just used to closing down the space quickly enough to suffocate any of the advanced mechanics we tend to see. Sort of like, their positioning and play style prevents the mechs from happening in the first place. Also they tend to speed through Plat and Diamond pretty quickly so you don't get the full experience of the skill range.

Hard agree. I was getting upset for his last teammate. From their POV, Leth was trolling hard. He doesn't need to dunk on them but at least go for the kickoffs. In ranked, especially down here you go for the win. If it was casual, different story.

especially in 3s and tournaments, in 3s at c1 there is a 50% chance that you either get a c3 2s player or a former gc down on his luck
played a c1 tournament today and got clapped by a smurf in finals. dude was highest rank d1 with 120 games played on the account and when called out you only get "mad cuz bad" back.
because you know being worse than the guy smurfing is very suprising

Played a plat tourney recently. Smooth sailing to the finals. Only for the last game to have a player so good that absolutely no body could get near the ball. GC level mechanics. Immaculate recoveries and directional air roll. Able to air dribble or slam the ball on net from anywhere. He put up like over 1000 points in the first game. Was such a dampener on the experience, cus everyone else was on the level. Guess he just wanted to get his kicks out of smurfing. Maybe he loses too much at his normal rank, and wanted to bully some plats on an alt account to feel like a big boy. Happy with my team of randos and how we did all in all though.
@@darkshibe2267 these guys are just mad that they are losing at their rank and dont want to lose gc. most players right now are at least 1 rank lower than the season before. in their mind its "i deserve it" and then they lose because the others were higher ranked than them

Leth im kinda late but ive just watched the second episode and one thing id really like to see you mention or maybe even mess around with is boost management and what some mistakes like boosting while turning or boosting in supersonic could look like
