Lone Pine, California is the Gateway to Mount Whitney. This town is adorable and walking the entire thing wont take long. The weather is gorgeous and the views are pretty awesome.
Lone Pine is a nice place but I wouldnt want to live there AGAIN. I use to live near by, in Cartago about 20 miles away, in the late 70s to early 80s. The bus ride to the LP high school daily was a real pain but I stayed the weekends in town with friends.
@@OutandAboutWithDiane My wife and I are heading to Vegas on Tuesday. We’ll be driving down 395 from Tahoe to Big Pine and then cutting across Death Valley. Thru Pahrump to Henderson. Going to be awesome .
I've eaten at the Totem Cafe, although it's been awhile. On the back of their business card they list the miles to towns either north or south of Lone Pine. About the angry drivers no one is looking for pedestrians they are on "cruise control" heading home. It's best to cross at the stop light, at least they "MIGHT" see the red light. I've stayed at the Dow Villa Motel, the corner downstairs room has a whirlpool bathtub to relax in. The Western Film Museum has a lot of history to view and a theater that shows old movies shot in the Alabama Hills area.
In 1995 and 96 my husband and I (Perry and Ada Christene Sargeant) served 16 months as full time missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Lone Pine. We enjoyed being here and the people were so friendly. I can see that Lone Pine has grown quite a bit since we were there. I enjoyed your video.
Diane...wonder how it would be to live there? Not in town, but just outside? We are in NC now. Just looking around. I could never imagine living in one of the cities out there! Hello to Bruce--:))
The western museum top of the list of actors us kids grew up with Roy Rogers John Wayne and a lot of others great museum and alot of movie areas as well
Bruce is such a great companion/friend. Thanks for the tour. I just bought a 4Runner today. 395 run is in my future. Diane stay safe and again thanks for your Vid tour od Lone Pine, Oh yeah I will stop in at Jakes. Jake Stohler
@@OutandAboutWithDiane I used to live down in SFV Area and drove every 4-5 weeks up into the Mountain Resorts. I just loved it all these Panaroma Mother Nature shares with us. Clean healthy air, calm people and bunches of awsome food if you decide to eat out instead of cooking your own meal. A lil bit pricy here and there but you can't by real jewels for just some pennys. I strongly recomennt people who have never been to the Mt. Whitney Region before "just get your butts up there" to experience a piece of paradise
‘The Merry Go Round’ has good Chinese and ‘Seasons’ has the best steaks, ribs, etc. ‘Elevation’ is the place for mountaineering equipment if you need anything. How was the Bloody Mary ? If you’re ever over in Randsburg, see Neil and Holly over at ‘The Joint’ for the best Bloody Mary around ! It’s a family bar with a big history.
Start the day off in the portal with a pancake, head down to lunch at pizza factory and end up at Jakes. Spent many days doing just that. Im sad that the BLM has taken away the good camping in the Alabama Hills. That was always an amazing time there! Another good video. Makes me miss the lone pine days!

I remember main street before the stop light.
I remember it before they had the Mcdonalds, Carls Jr and Subway. I also remember the broken down plane they had in the park.
Right threw the pavers lol ?
Where are all the people ? Good video
