What’s the reasoning for categorizing this piece as high as level 8/9? (Early Advanced) I can probably quite easily sight read this and I’m by no means a great pianist (not my main instrument). Anyway, great music though, and lovely performance.
Good question, first of all, I am in Canada, so levels may be different where you are. This piece is 4 pages, and about 2 pages are very simple and 2 pages are quite a lot more difficult (large chords, leaping LH patterns). In order to maintain the original composers intent when arranging this piece I decided to make the beginning & ending simple and to arrange the middle part more difficult where the two singers are singing in counterpoint. The majority of level 8 contemporary pieces would be 2 pages, and because there are about 2 pages of level 8 difficulty I assigned level 8/9. I would say this piece falls within level 8 more, but some level 8 students I have taught would struggle to play the difficult section fluently/musically, so it could also be an easy level 9. Within every level there is a very wide range of difficulty, and as a teacher I like to start off a level with simpler pieces and move on from there. Hope that helps!
Ok, interesting. I did arrange this piece for a number of different levels of piano so feel free to check my website to find another level if needed: www.sardispiano.com/arrangements@@isabellamccracken16
From doing a bit of research abrsm is extremely similar to trinity and most people suggest 2 level up from it so I'll try the level 6 one as I'm grade 4
I was just playing this tune in my head a while ago then stupid UA-cam just promptly recommended this video. Is UA-cam also mining the algorithm of our minds?🙄
This song is so absolutely beautiful and now so much more emotional performed in the piano. You most definetely crushed it ma'am, it is awesome.

There are several chord differences between your arrangement and what we heard in OMITB, but I happen to think both versions work.
Thank you - glad you liked this version.
In trinity grades what level would this be equivalent to anyone know??
Sorry, I'm not familiar with that syllabus.
Ah that's ok it's mainly used in the UK/Ireland I'd say
