This was one of the most mind numbing exotic quests I have done in recent years, it’s just so repetitive and it didn’t help that it was bugged when I was doing it where you could lose all progress if you defeated one of the bosses on the final objective when you had to farm all of those motes of light.
for real... idk what bungies obsession is with jumping puzzles and go find this and find that over and over again..... its mind numbing filler and isn't fun at all.
@@alaskayoung3413 tbh the jumping puzzles and stuff is good when you find something secret like the D1 whisper mission. When you have to do it over and over again for a quest step, it’s mind numbing. Which sometimes isn’t a bad thing. I know they want people to play for longer in the game but this isn’t the best way to do it. I think mylein has posted a video I have to watch yet. But on the thumbnail it read. “Predictable, repetitive” and another word I can’t remember but tbh that’s the stage that seasons were at before final shape. Final shape has brought some of the mystery back but now we’re starting to get into the first episode I expect that mystery to go. If I am honest I would rather prefer more of the missions they do for exotic quests and dungeons than a seasonal activity. Better use of resources. At least there’s a permanent way of acquiring stuff.
Doing all of this shit is why I will never have Khvostov. This is just a downright ignorant amount of collecting, in my opinion. The bugs with the quest certainly don't help.

You can get the encryption bits from the cysts during the quests to unlock them btw, so you dont need to unlock them first then do them for the bits, you can just get the bits as you do the unlock quests
man im glad I didn't have them unlocked yet bc I hate redoing stuff when it could have been done just once. but at the same time holy SHIT was it a drag to get everything done at once!! I think it took me and a friend working together on overthrows 5½ hours start to finish, and to start he even had 10 motes of light and I had 5. probably a 6-7 hour quest altogether.
There should be a clarification here. You do NOT need to have all 6 cysts unlocked at the time you begin the quest. You can get the encryption bits as you run through them the first time. I did this and it saved me having to do a lot of stuff twice. This guide helped streamline me getting this done. The thing that takes the most time is doing the overthrow stuff to unlock each cyst.
How did anyone figure this out? Is it just datamining? I feel like I never see the community actively figuring these things out, just a billion “Guides” after the fact.
@goatseatchili1817 Right, but I never see anyone in those Networks showing/discussing the process of looking into all those secrets. Raids are a lot easier to figure out than hunting every single inch of a Destination, performing certain actions, and then somehow connecting the order of what to do next, etc. That's not necessarily complicated either, but I'm curious to see that part of the Community discuss their work with Puzzles and that kind of thing. Those Networks still had to put in the legwork and we rarely hear about it.
@@Zxykary well consider that after one person finds a regional chest and finds a piece of the code, then they assume all the chests have a portion of the code. Then someone completing all the quests on the new area stumbles on one of the encryption bits in the cyst. So all the other cysts must have one. Etc etc. Gotta think there’s more people playing destiny than ever at an average of 115 thousand people over the last 30 days. Between lfgs, Reddit posts, clans, and content creators, there’s a lot of info being spread around. It’s less incredible to me that people figured it out and more incredible that there’s still things we haven’t found.
I mean I figured out how to get the legendary khvostov by complete accident on the second day of TFS but I couldn’t figure out the motes. Luckily someone got all 15 motes and they combined so I just had to search up the locations for the traveler. You shouldn’t underestimate how much some people play this game to the point where they literally try everything

12th time yet has not dropped like bungie needs to sort this out because in several years they did not have a single good stable launch worst part is TFS was delayed where is the QA?

@@TheArtisticAlchemistyou need to make sure you have all the motes from the other bosses and collectibles before killing the meatball, or else he won’t drop anything, when you have 16 motes in your inventory and kill the meatball, it will drop the exotic mote needed to obtain khvostov😸
What worked for me: Kill all of the adds before phasing the boss each time. Then only kill the boss once all the adds are dead. I think the game is not properly registering that the boss is spawned and needs time to figure it out. IDK. But it worked for me.

This quest is bugged yet again. There is a chance you will get stuck at 16 Motes despite collecting all Visions and killing all bosses (even after multiple times). If this happens to you, place all of your Motes into your vault and then kill the Meatball Overthrow Boss and you will get the exotic Mote for Kvostov added to your inventory. This has reportedly worked for numerous people, and I'm one of them. But you are stuck with the remaining 16 motes in your inventory/vault forever though lol.

Yup it’s bugged for me too. I’ve killed all 9 bosses and checked all 6 scrap piles since bungie announced they “fixed” the issue, and I’m still stuck at 16/17 motes. Bungie just needs to give every player the exotic mote at this point cause this is just fucking stupid.
I really dont understand why they said it "incorrectly" states that the ricochet round does extra damage when it clearly does... that extra round one hits red bar adds when the normal bullets dont, I'm not sure if they meant it in another way or what but it definitely does increased damage.
@@GiveMeTheRice You obviously didn't read the comment verry well, I don't understand why BUNGIE says it's incorrect because it works just how the perk is described in game, the ricochet bullet does extra damage like the perk says it does but bungie says that it incorrectly says that it does extra damage, I don't know how it can incorrectly say that it does extra damage when it actually does extra damage.
super helpful guide. if you were already doing the "alone in the dark" quests, you already have about half of the work done especially if you finish the overthrows they send you on. thanks a lot cus i wouldve never figured any of it out or search up a different youtuber that has
I hated this quest but the gun’s good in PvP and almost all of the work’s for the legendary lol once you get the legendary.. you get the exotic fast if you’ve already been playing around the pale heart
Yeah same I have 13 done but I’ve done ever cyst multiple times and my firmed all did the same and got this shit. And tbh I know this gun is ass overall builds wise, so I really could care less but I’m not missing out on free stuff. Glad after a week to be on the same character when day 2 I would’ve had everything done completely in a normal season ! But heat atlesst we have bugged everything so it’ll last forever now!
When collecting the lost encryption bits, (eg, moth caverns, 1st plate room. Do you have to actually go through and finish it or is it just to get the bit then can move onto the next one?
I see why people have a love-hate relationship for this quest. I collected all eight of The travelers not even knowing that it was for this quest and now the chest is just sitting there for me to open. The problem is I already completed the sword dance in the mission keeps showing up on my map. Before Bungie does any tweaking on armor, mods and abilities they need to fix that quest.

I spent 5 hours yesterday doing overthrows i have all the travelers and all the cist missions 16 motes of light and the legendary khovastov idk wtf I did wrong.
On my second attempt of the servitor boss I didn't have khvostov equipped when I killed it, and I did the final damage using golden gun but I still got the mote
The grind was tedious and had to do a few extra cysts because of missing keys and I switched characters but 3 weeks into TFS I have finally able to ge it, thank you Cross!
Completed this a few days ago but forgot to say thank you aztecross. Bc of this video i went from not having a single encryption bit or traveller vision (hadnt even started alone in the dark) to owning both variants of khovostov in under 4 hours, as always truly a legend and a gentleman.
“The game doesn’t tell you where to go or what to do” D2 in 2024 🤣🤣🤣 basically. Don’t know how many threads on Reddit I’ve seen of people asking where the new stuff is located in. Is this just secrets or the game being awful at explaining stuff? A bit of column A and B. People still don’t know how to unlock all the aspects and fragments for Pris on all characters. Bungie just put a message in-game on how to do this, people are lost here lol
@@Spartan-bl4pq lol the grind gives you the gun. And I’ve found it actually fun. It feels good to have an exotic mission that comes with a grind and the reward is a PvP/PvE monster lol. It’s worth its weight in gold buddy. This expansion is amazing lol.

I’ve rekilled all 9 bosses and gathered all the orbs but still missing 1 mote. I have had 16 since last week and still nothing when killing everyone again today. Do I just not get the exotic?

I got the golden möte and got every thing but yet I can't open the exotic khvostov. It says "you lack something". Ithe thing I don't have the khvostov legendary version coz iam stuck at 14 encryption bits. Done all the Cysts multiple time but yet I lack one bit. Iam letteraly stuck with this fu.kd up quest.

Alright, so stupid question for everyone - I accidentally collected the Visions of the Traveler FIRST and put them on the pedestals. I have all 8 done. Then I went back and did all of the cysts and collected the legendary version of the Khvostov. I have 15 light motes from overthrows, but it still isn't letting me get the exotic. Am I missing something? I get a "something's missing...." notification when I go to the box where the exotic is supposed to be. Help!
I got all the traveller vision things, killed all 9 bosses but I’m only on 16 motes. Is there a chance I missed picking one up from the bosses, and if so is there any way of knowing which. Because all the triumphs are ticked off saying I’ve killed then all.
So I trying to get the weapon but I am stuck at the cyst part but no bird is showing up for me to switch to the different cysts and I am standing in the correct position
I currently have an issue where the impasse bird to change the cyst isnt showing up.. literally been trying to fix it for the past 2 days and it WILL NOT come back, stg someone killed the bird or something.

I’m stuck on the part where I have to kill all of the overthrow bosses. I’ve killed one for each area so far. Would it be better to have a full fireteam and have them split up in the different areas to maximize the chances of getting a new boss ?

For those who are stuck on getting the last couple of mote of lights, store your existing mote of lights, fly back in to the Pale Heart, and you should be able to get mote of lights. Thanks Cross for the amazing guide.

You can just go for the Cyst missions that are unlocked on your map. You can change which Cyst it is by interacting with the birds at the entrance of the Cyst (Each location has two different Cysts). This way you can directly get into it without any Alone in the Dark quests.

@@All4won0306I figured it out. The quest was bugged and said that I had completed 6/6, when I hadn’t really. I just went and did them one by one like normal and grabbed the encrypted bits along the way.
complete the 12 player activity excision or the raid. either one works I believe, but the 12 player one is far easier. I would still try and do the raid though it is a good one.

All these creators have their networks. We saw it during the day one raid with a bunch of creators working with each other.

Iirc what they were clarifying was that the ricochet bullets do extra damage at base, not when you pick up an orb.

When collecting the lost encryption bits, (eg, moth caverns, 1st plate room. Do you have to actually go through and finish it or is it just to get the bit then can move onto the next one?
I see why people have a love-hate relationship for this quest. I collected all eight of The travelers not even knowing that it was for this quest and now the chest is just sitting there for me to open. The problem is I already completed the sword dance in the mission keeps showing up on my map.
Before Bungie does any tweaking on armor, mods and abilities they need to fix that quest.
you have to find the bird and swap the cyst sword dance for the moth cave I’m doing it as we speak

I spent 5 hours yesterday doing overthrows i have all the travelers and all the cist missions 16 motes of light and the legendary khovastov idk wtf I did wrong.
Its the final overthrow boss for the blooming you need to kill it with only kinetic damage and have the legendary kvostov on thats what worked for me
When I say kinetic I mean like no super or prismatic just weapons you and make sure to have legendary kvostov on just in case
On my second attempt of the servitor boss I didn't have khvostov equipped when I killed it, and I did the final damage using golden gun but I still got the mote
chuck your motes in the vault then do it. your welcome
Clear all adds on meatball or the last boss you need

The overthrow part is so tedious.
The grind was tedious and had to do a few extra cysts because of missing keys and I switched characters but 3 weeks into TFS I have finally able to ge it, thank you Cross!

Completed this a few days ago but forgot to say thank you aztecross. Bc of this video i went from not having a single encryption bit or traveller vision (hadnt even started alone in the dark) to owning both variants of khovostov in under 4 hours, as always truly a legend and a gentleman.

Trust the exotic version is one of if not the best weapon in pvp. Trials is easy with it

For the the keys do we need the keys from the particular section or does it matter how much we have? I have 12 encryption keys already
Yes you need to get the 9 from the regional cheats and one from each of the 6 cysts.

@@Spartan-bl4pq lol the grind gives you the gun. And I’ve found it actually fun. It feels good to have an exotic mission that comes with a grind and the reward is a PvP/PvE monster lol. It’s worth its weight in gold buddy. This expansion is amazing lol.

I’ve rekilled all 9 bosses and gathered all the orbs but still missing 1 mote. I have had 16 since last week and still nothing when killing everyone again today. Do I just not get the exotic?

There should be 6 quests to unlock all the cysts after that I just loops or so it seems, I assume it's to farm gear

I got the golden möte and got every thing but yet I can't open the exotic khvostov. It says "you lack something". Ithe thing I don't have the khvostov legendary version coz iam stuck at 14 encryption bits. Done all the Cysts multiple time but yet I lack one bit. Iam letteraly stuck with this fu.kd up quest.

Alright, so stupid question for everyone - I accidentally collected the Visions of the Traveler FIRST and put them on the pedestals. I have all 8 done. Then I went back and did all of the cysts and collected the legendary version of the Khvostov. I have 15 light motes from overthrows, but it still isn't letting me get the exotic. Am I missing something? I get a "something's missing...." notification when I go to the box where the exotic is supposed to be. Help!
I got all the traveller vision things, killed all 9 bosses but I’m only on 16 motes. Is there a chance I missed picking one up from the bosses, and if so is there any way of knowing which. Because all the triumphs are ticked off saying I’ve killed then all.
So I trying to get the weapon but I am stuck at the cyst part but no bird is showing up for me to switch to the different cysts and I am standing in the correct position

Idk what I'm missing I have hit all the chests and double checked all cysts locations and it still shows I only have 14 out of 15 lost encryption bits
I currently have an issue where the impasse bird to change the cyst isnt showing up.. literally been trying to fix it for the past 2 days and it WILL NOT come back, stg someone killed the bird or something.

For those who are stuck on getting the last couple of mote of lights, store your existing mote of lights, fly back in to the Pale Heart, and you should be able to get mote of lights. Thanks Cross for the amazing guide.

finally got it after coming back from vacation. that was by far one of the most tedious quests i have ever done
so...do u have to do all the alone in dark quests again just to get these keys then? cause i already did them all but didnt know about the keys till recently. and if i gotta do all 6 quests again...i'd rather not honestly lol
You can just go for the Cyst missions that are unlocked on your map. You can change which Cyst it is by interacting with the birds at the entrance of the Cyst (Each location has two different Cysts).
This way you can directly get into it without any Alone in the Dark quests.

@@All4won0306I figured it out. The quest was bugged and said that I had completed 6/6, when I hadn’t really. I just went and did them one by one like normal and grabbed the encrypted bits along the way.

What does it mean by complete the campaign? I already did all of the main quests, do I have to complete the raid to get this?
complete the 12 player activity excision or the raid. either one works I believe, but the 12 player one is far easier. I would still try and do the raid though it is a good one.
I can't select different cysts for some reason, besides Moths and Sword. the birds just start flying away when i get close.
