04 VW Jetta TDI BEW timing belt squeal HELP!

  • FIXED - It wasn't the timing belt... Hint - always check and re-check the torque on the bolts on your project...
    2004 VW Jetta TDI BEW engine. Purchased recently for cheap due to blown turbo. After replacing the turbo it squeals. Thought sound was a bad timing belt roller but still squeals after replacement...
    Turns out I didn't tighten a bolt on the intake manifold.. the 'squeal' was air whistling out from a space between the manifold and head.

      Believe it or not, it was just because the intake manifold wasn't tight (I missed two bolts...LOL) So the sound was actually a whistle not a squeal!

    Ever find the cause of the squeak?

      woody555kl Yes, I had forgot to tighten one bolt on the intake manifold, the noise was air escaping the gap causing it to whistle
