  • @badgyrl310

    That white guy wasn't even ready for that debate, he just kept dismissing the subject "we can't have a conversation about race if we have to talk about the sins from 200 years ago", no, we're talking about the benefits you're getting now, and how can you even have an honest conversation about race without addressing the white supremacist system that this country was built on and the racism that took place in this country 200 years ago? He literally had nothing to say. He was scared of that conversation like most white people seem to be, so he just kept dismissing the subject. He had nothing to contribute to the conversation. Michael Eric Dyson chewed him up and spit him out.

      There is a clear problem in America of judging a book by it's cover over the past 50 years things have gotten a little bit better but no where near where it needs to be the problem here and not just here everywhere emotions and labeling groups its misplaced anger that continues to fuel racism. Judging a book by its cover is labeling a group into a stereotype a good amount of white cops not all but definitely over 50 percent see a black person and pass a face value judgment without knowing them and let's say it led to the police harshly mistreat that person (talk down to them, threaten, and/or abuse them) which is indeed wrong and in essence the result of labeling a group. Now what does this do? Well there is going to be emotion felt, depending on the person in worst case scenario this person this emotion, let's say anger can get misplaced and create further racist outcomes. It's a trickle down effect this individual may now misplace that anger now towards a person of the opposit race.

    • @nickv11763
      @nickv11763 9 років тому

      Part 2: what ever the action is as a result is usually no where near as bad as what was done to them by that cop to cause this misplaced anger but it continued is the main point and lets say that now this person in turn does something negative to a person of the opposit race, let's say he's an employer and he decided to not hirer someone based on their race lets take it a step further and say he decided to hire a white person. Without realizing it both of these people fueled racism, now this doesn't always happen but it happens because of misplaced emotion (anger) as I said in a worst case scenario. The important part is they didn't realize that that misplaced anger is a form of racism the black man misplaced anger because he was labeled and treated poorly the white employer labeled a black of us are sadly feeding the cycle

    • @nickv11763
      @nickv11763 9 років тому +1

      Part 3: a white employer hired a white man over a black man because of whatever action happened to him as a result of a black man misplacing his anger, labeling a black man into a group which in turn is further misplaced hate that happen to result in the cause of why in a number of cases why some white privilege may happen. obviously chains of events like this is not why all people judge a book, judging a book by its cover can be racist if that cover is defined by color so it's important that we don't group books (people) by their cover for whatever reason we are doing it misplaced anger being a small part of it some people realize this and in turn teach their kids the same that's why things are a little better then they used to be but not enough people realize and misplace that anger and continue to feed into fueling the fire not all white people choose promote actions that cause white privilege it is important to realize that a white privilege such as the one I used in the example only happened as a result of racism, not ever white person is racist, not every white person experiences white privilege not every white employer is racist not every white cop is racist, not every black person is racist, in each and everyone of these groups i name some are racist and enough so that it is an issue but it is important that we realize not all are....it goes back to the point of labeling, grouping and not judging a book by its cover, get to know someone before you shove them into a group with a prejudged label on them... It's okay to be upset about racism it's not righ, feeling emotion (anger) is natural, be careful not to misplace it though as many others have done without realizing it both in the comment sections of this video like this and in real life, if people can realize theses points hopefully one day it will end the cycle.

    I like looking at these old videos. This is exatly wht they are doing to BLM. When it's the Tea Party, we are painting with too broad a brish. When it's BLM, it has to be the entire group!

      And the ironic part is that polls and studies show that the Tea Party holds plenty of negative and racist views of minorities, so I don't even consider it a broad paint job to claim that the Tea Party are mostly angry racist white people. I've been on too many tea party facebook pages and sites to see if my theory was right and it turns out that their comment section and articles failed to prove me wrong.

The "I didn't benefit from the mistreatment of slaves" or "stop pulling the victim race-card" arguments are preposterous!!! America benefited and therefore ALL AMERICAN CITIZENS (of all races, religions, creeds, and kinds) BENEFITED and are STILL BENEFITING from the mistreatment and dehumanization of my ancestors.

    I'm just using the words of the pale skin ones against them. They said that whites have higher I.Q than blacks; yet I've never seen a pale skin beat a black in a debate of any kind on any topic. Prof. Dyson is a perfect example of how blacks have excelled in oratory skills in a language that is not their own. Blacks all around the world can orate like no other people. No one even comes close. Oratory skills is just one category that blacks own. Name the category, give us a fair opportunity and we will beat you. I'm not boasting because the evidence speaks for itself for those who take their racial blinders off.

Real Black men and women are now standing up to this crap, and refusing to play the victims that Dyson, who appears to be a mixed race, appears to want those on his black side to think they are indeed still victims - he always pushes total division with his rhetoric.

This true story sums up the arguement perfectly. Black guy and a white woman grew up in a segregated town. The guy wasnt allowed on the side of town the white girl grew up on. They got married and interview 40 yrs later. They asked they guy how it was growing up in the segregated town. "horrible". They asked his wife shie said "fine"

    If slavery and racism were dealt with honestly when it was supposed to be done, perhaps there would be no need to discuss it today. Instead, there is this attempt by people who have not experienced racism to say "get over it". Every action must be dealt with to it's completion. It will continue to BE an issue until such a time as it is dealt with seriously.

      Funny you lump conservatives with racism.
      Democratic Party:
      Andrew Jackson, the first Democrat, sent Indians on a death march. Party of the KKK, party of segregation, party of Margaret Sanger the racist founder of Planned Parenthood, the party of slavery, the Civil Rights Act---passed by both House and Senate Republicans! FACT! Democrats voted against it. LBJ was a racist. Democrats voted against the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments. Republicans voted for them all. Democrat Woodrow Wilson desegregated the government. Not one Republican owned slaves...NONE! That Confederate flag was the Democratic flag.
      So why does the African American keep voting Democrat? You own your history of racism...you vote for it. All of these cities haven't voted Republican in decades and they look like war zones.....why...if the Democrats were put in place to help?

    • @geneisaac4145
      @geneisaac4145 7 років тому +2

      It's been a while, but I'm sure I was referring to this particular guy and not all conservatives.
      With that said, my instincts tell me that you already know what I'm about to say. The democrats of today, are not the democrats you speak of, then. The parties changed views around the 50's and 60's. The republicans were the liberals, and the democrats were conservative up until that time. Too much to get into here.
      Learn your history before you start spewing unless rhetoric. This is the internet....someone might just believe you.

I learned to pull back from the false narrative, and to see our nation for what it is: unified in its diversity, not divided. You can do anything you want; you are your greatest impediment, not your nation of birth! Long live our Republic!

    Once again, Micheal Eric Dyson responds quick and with articulate razor-sharp intellect. Conventional wisdom within the western hemisphere of the globe would reiterate that Michael shouldn't be as supremely intellectual as he is... but that's the whole argument here. Not to mention, the example regardin the officer pullin a man of color over and another scenario of white man being pulled over was/is absolutely genius.

    I wholeheartedly agree. The state has come to meddle in all aspects of our lives, even down to what one eats. I believe that all of our bases abroad should be closed and our troops brought back home. Forget about foreign military aid. However, unscrambling the egg that is foreign interventionism and militarism might prove next to impossible. That is why I would vote Ron Paul 2012, as a true Constitutional Conservative.

    That's what gets me about certain individuals.. Erickson was implying that what happened 200 or even 400 years ago isn't relative to the benefits or outcomes of today.. If that was the case then HISTORY would have no place in society..

    That obliviousness is whats happening here. According to the wife she didnt see anything wrong with the town or anything. I guess u could say she lived in a "bubble" The black man witness family memebers lynched, beaten ect. But when u ask him he says it was horrible. To her she didnt see anything wrong. Perspective is deep isnt it..

    "So then you admit that discrimination exists" Both the left and right understand there are freedoms of association that the government has no business in controlling. Black fraternities, VFWs, Country Clubs, etc. The idea of discrimination is both a discussion of the public and the private spheres. I agree that there are forms of discrimination that are unlawful, and have been met headlong, lawfully. My right to discriminate on my property should be my right, the consequences my burden.
