I have been a victim of sexual assault as well as a survivor of 3 suicide attempts... The rape scenes and the suicide was very painful for me, but I'm glad they did it! Rape, sexual assault, suicide are all things that happen to "other people" until they happen to you or someone you love! Then nobody talks about it! This show opened up a very real conversation with a lot of parents and kids! They didn't make it look pretty or downplay any of it, they shoved it right in your face and made you feel sick, angry, shaken, hearbroken!!
I think it's all in how you show and frame it. So like 13 Reasons Why followed none of the recommendations of the suicide prevention committee's list of guidlines for responsible representations of suicide and several copycat suicides occurred. It was irresponsibly done and that took its toll. Of course the show can't be blamed entirely for these people's choices but it's not blameless either. I have no depression or suicidal thoughts and never have and I found the scene just incredibly disturbing and a little traumatizing and made me have intrusive thoughts of these things I had never before even considered. I don't watch that much that does look at suicide to give other examples but even look at the one in season 5 of Buffy where Buffy (after a long battle with depression) martyrs herself and dies. For plot reasons, it's not entirely her dying for its own sake since it has some alterior motives in trying to save her sister and the world, but she does chose to kill herself. And I think it's done really well. It's not glorified (except as her doing something the show shows to be messed up and horrible in the line of duty) and her depression is shown to be unpleasant and horrible and holding her back and hurting her relationships and all aspects of her life and then she comes back to life in the next season and is living in this sort of stasis where she's still depressed as hell and just trying to endure it with no hope for anything better and she makes terrible decisions like sleeping with Spike and eventually she stops that and she connects with her friends and family again and slowly, even on into later seasons a bit, she starts to emerge from the depression. So it shows it in a way that feels really authentic but still painful and difficult and slow but it also shows how she's able to build a better existence for herself and make herself feel better again and free herself from her suicidal instincts. Which I think helps in showing both how hard it can be to have depression and what it's like to experience it, sparking conversation, and also show how it can get better, giving hope. And back again with Buffy I love the rape episode so much for what it did. It showed the hero, this woman who's consistently depicted as unbelievably strong, as someone who could be a victim. Which is invaluable. No one thought any less of her for this also. And it shed light into the toxicity at the heart of Spike and Buffy's relationship which I thought was so important as, likeable as he is at other parts of the show, he had some truly heinous entitled and dependant beliefs and by making him a protagonist and almost a hero in the show he was, until then, excused in that behaviour, or its darker side was ignored. And so this looked at the ways that the sort of behaviour he'd shown already were evident of potential for great violence and a lack or respect for Buffy. And it wasn't gratuitous.
That Buffy episode was ahead of its time, long before the "Me Too" era. Luckily, Buffy was able to fight off Spike's sexual advances, but it's even more uncomfortable to watch knowing that James Marsters felt JUST as awkward filming the scene.
I still feel like that scene was incredibly unnecessary, and it completely ruined Spike's character for me and Spuffy in general. I think Joss Whedon's resentment towards Spike's character being so beloved, as, apparently, Joss didn't want another love interest to deal with.
I was definitely alright with Glee giving Dave some sort of happiness and redemption type storyline since I didn't think he should be miserable forever, but the writers were on CRACK thinking it would be okay to make Blaine date his ex-bf's bully and abuser, like WHAT?
Personally, I feel there is no worse tv scene then what happens to tyler in 13 reasons why. you know what I'm talking about- couldn't sleep after watching that.
Freddie death was tragic skins was an amazing shows. and it had Jack O’Connell for few seasons he’s one of my favourite actors Spoilers cook does get Revenge for the death of his best friend
One piece of advice when depicting death, suicide or anything else that could possibly trigger your audience is to not directly allude to or show anything on screen or page. While "13 Reasons Why" eventually censored Hannah's controversial suicide, it came too little, too late for many people.
I disagree... My morbid curiosity was waiting for that moment... I wouldnt watch a show about suicide expecting it to be sugar coated. Just as i wouldnt watch a show about making pizzas and only seeing thwm making buffalo wings.
@@jeanluccouture9088 Yeah, same. I was fine with the scene when it first aired. It was graphic and horrific to watch, and I never understood how people actually thought it was glorified.
@@thatamericanbritishbloke5672 Tbh... Seeing how graphic that was would probably put 2nd and 3rd thoughts into the mind of someone who wpuld have seen that... I know I MYSELF would have been turned off from doing something so drastic if the thought ever crossed my mind.
I never got to watch 13 Reasons Why, but for two good reasons of my own. 1: My family wanted to protect me from harmful media. And 2: The episode Tape 7, Side A was said that the scene in which Hannah took her life was extremely graphic and even triggering. I wouldn’t have wanted to see the series in general.
Plus, the scene where Hannah takes her life isn’t even accurate to the books! She just used pills to do it! It’s depressing and this is a sad example of using graphic scenes for shock value and drama purposes!
Honestly changing the way she killed herself is so disrespectful to both peoples stories in real life and the author of the book. They changed it purely for show factory and instead of focusing on her story and what drove her to the point of the overdose, they made her suicide scene so graphic, tragic, triggering, and scarring for the audience
Having lost 5 people - yes, 5 - to suicide...including my own younger brother, and having attempted it myself, I honestly can't believe that anyone thought that this show is a good idea. It's one thing to have a suicide in a show - Degrassi did it twice over the decades - but they were both one-shot storylines with sensitivity to both the victims and the survivors. 13RW is just torturously stretching it out over seasons.
Number 4 is such a cute scene, powerful and simple at the same time... It's beautiful he isn't afraid of showing his love anymore and he shouldn't be but other made him feel like he should be afraid of the most beautiful feeling ever, and that is, sadly, far from being in the past. Yet, it's always beautiful seeing someone overcome this toxic society we live in for true love ❤
Seconded, the novel didn't directly depict the suicide, and the graphic suicide from the show seemed to be there for shock value. In the book, Hannah uses pills to end her life.
i loved 13rw exactly for that, because they didn't shy away from showing the darkest scenes uncensored. i don't see how showing her suicide scene is any different from just implying that she did it. Either way the viewer has to deal with the topic, and there are always trigger warnings on netflix, so if you don't like seeing stuff like that, then just don't watch the show.
The One tree Hill episode where Dan shot Keith then blamed everything on Jimmy letting Lucas think that an innocent classmate of his murdered his dad is the saddest episode for me ever
1. It always shocks me to see a young Olivia Wilde on the OC 2. I always felt like Hannah’s suicide scene was important. Not to make a point on how far a series could go, but to show a victim’s loudest thoughts. Hannah hesitates from the first second to her last. She clearly wanted someone to find her. I wanted to find her! It was heartbreaking. But necessary. As a reminder. I feel the same way when I see this Britney Spears music video in which she attempts suicide in almost the same way.
I was hoping Degrassi would be on here!! It's my favorite show of all time. I was wondering if the shooting episode would be on here; I should've known it was going to be the "Accidents Will Happen" two-parter considering it was banned from the US 🤐
That scene from 13rw was, in my opinion, necessary and very well done. However, I do understand why would some people fear copycat behaivors, specially in younger teens and people in a vulnerable state.
In the book, Hannah kills herself by overdosing on pills, while I do understand why the show-runners changed it to a form of suicide that does happen, in my opinion how a character dies in a book should not be changed in a tv or film adaptation. And I’m sorry, towards the end of season 2 (was it the finale?) where Tyler gets raped by a broom handle is more graphic in my opinion.
It's so weird, but I thought the school shooting was more triggering, especially since a main character was shot and another main character took the life of the shooter. I guess since they did the “One Tree Hill” shooting due to the plot twist at the end, they went for one of the many other controversial “Degrassi” episodes.
Half of these I wouldn’t even call “controversial” it’s just because they deal with serious issues and topics. That One tree hill episode was not controversial it was actually praised for how they dealt with such a touchy topic. 13 reasons why I found yes, unsettling to watch, but suicide is not supposed to be easy to watch or discuss. It broke my heart watching that scene - and the whole show tbh - but it really opens your eyes into what people go through and how much pain they’re in. And lolll omg parents getting upset that their kids were watching a show involving a threesome like lol I’m sure half of their kids were already doing it haha
I always find that odd considering the whole reason for Blaine was because Sam was originally supposed to date Kurt, but that was changed when the producers saw the chemistry Chord Overstreet had with Dianna Agron, then with Amber Riley later on.
I actually like the fact that they didn't censored any of the hard to watch scenes. In real life those moments are not censored, they don't just jump from him aggressively trying to kiss or take of her clothes off, to her waking up after or walking down the street. Neither the suicide scene. They chose this way of taking her own life so people could see the pain in her eyes, the pain with every cut. In real life, you don't just put the razor blade close to your arm and then bam, you die. No, you have to go through all the hurt of knowingly cutting and hurting yourself. I think the show does a good job at being realistic and relatable. I never experienced any glorifying of the suicide scene or the rape scenes when I watched it. Seeing how brutal it is actually help me understand that I'm not capable of hurting myself that way.
I think you can get across quite serious and scary issues without the specific, explicit gory details being shown. All I have to do is think of Ordinary People and the impact it had on me. Conrad spoke about what he had gone thru, he talked about being in the hospital, they had the scene where he’s being taken away and one of the EMTs says something like he cut up with the vein, he was really serious (I mean, we didn’t need to see Conrad to know what was happening, with his father banging on the bathroom door & the EMT conversation & actually Conrad’s allusions to it when discussing why his mother is still upset w him…) He inexplicably cut off all of his hair, he was a mess. All due to a horrific accident that will haunt him for the rest of his life. It wasn’t necessary to see Conrad’s actual suicide attempt. I don’t see what it would have added, and I was seriously upset throughout most of the film, sobbing my heart out.
I don't see enough love for one tree hill, that show changed my life. That episode was so powerful... listening to Jimmy's cries as he disconnects from the world. And then Dan killing Keith broke me.
Well, Blaine had always been quite insensitive and entitled regarding Kurt, so I wasn't surprised by his turn in s6. What surprised me was that Kurt still wanted him.
for me one of the worst parts about that episode of 13 reasons why was when we found out who number 13 was, in very real way he could have saved her but he failed Hannah
Haven’t yet seen the eps following Glees entry w Dave & Blaine dating starting off season 6 (meaning this isn’t a comment comparing what occurred here v what I’m positive is much more gruesome in the upcoming shows ahead. QAF wasn’t a teen drama, but there was an unbelievably scary gay bashing at the end of season 1, so I can guess at what might occur. Glee itself had Dave attempt suicide and Quinn was in what appeared to be t most frightening road accident I’ve seen on tv OR in the movies.) So. Having made my qualification, I just wish to say that of course, CC being a tremendously fine actor, he made the audience feel his gut wrenching pain of that moment. But moving away from Kurt’s immediate reaction, or even the fact that he himself had forgiven Dave for the hell he had put Kurt thru thruout high school, it’s a completely different thing for BLAINE to date the boy that had threatened to kill his fiancé (ex-fiancé). Dave might not have truly meant to actually, literally “kill” Kurt, but Max Adler is also a wonderful actor & I honestly believed that Kurt was in danger of being raped in a restroom and/or being beaten within an inch of his life. Kurt had actually grown at this point (he no longer resembled an eleven yr old milkmaid) but even so, he was still about one third the size of Dave (or maybe it just appeared that that way). In any case, that was the worst case scenario, following his attempt to start something w Kurt - clearly without his consent - and it came on the heels of years of being shoved into lockers, tossed into dumpsters, having pee balloons apparently thrown at him. The one nonsurprising element of the show was that Kurt showed an interest in the suicide pamphlets at the beginning of sophomore year, bc no matter how much he wasn’t willing to show on the outside, he was miserable on the inside. He was strong about some things - his love for his dad, how much he cared about his friends once he made some - but his self esteem was crap. I’m not saying this, well. A better analogy would,be that my sisters or my close friends could date, even marry certain men, but once they cheated on them or hit them or did something bad, no matter WHAT my sister or friend decided they were going to do, I personally NEVER forgot what they had done & it remained in the back of mind, ready to spring out if he should mess up again. And I would NEVER, EVER date any of the guys that my sisters or friends dated for any serious length of time. (Meaning if they happened to go out one time that was one thing, but if they saw one another for a couple of months, even if they didn’t consider it really important, they were no longer datable. ) The fact that Blaine met Kurt bc Dave was making his life so miserable and terrifying that KURT ACTUALLY CHANGED SCHOOLS TO GET AWAY makes the idea of him dating Dave, even a couple of years later, beyond ridiculous. He could become friends w him, perhaps, to try and build up the self esteem of a guy who actually tried to take his own life (altho it appeared as if Dave was attempting to fix that thru sex w every bear in the community). But the two of them dating was creepy, especially bc he had shown a scary interest in dating Kurt (right before his life went to hell). In fact, I’m probably reading too much into this, but when Blaine and Dave finally break up bc Blaine cheats (yet again) except this time it’s w his soulmate - not a random from social media - Dave makes a point in asking which of the two of them made a move on the other, and I got the idea that he continues to have this idealized version of Kurt in his head. (That really is probably just me, but I think that every time I watch that episode.) Blaine dating him was wrong on so many levels. I think the writers must have been smoking crack. For real.
I knew going into this video that the season finale of 13 Reasons Why would end up in the top slot of this countdown. I actually applaud the show and its creators for not shying away from the seriousness of the topic of suicide. In the "Tape 7, Side A" episode we saw Hannah providing a cry for help, a very loud cry for help, and having someone who should have been a safe, reliable adult let her down. Was the final scene graphic? Yes, it was, but I don't believe for a minute that it glorified suicide or was included for shock value. They put an uncomfortable, yet very real, image of what so many people go through into the mainstream. It forced many adults to have difficult conversations with their kids that they might not have otherwise had.
Here’s the thing: they went completely against official advice from actual psychologists on how to portray suicide on screen. Even if it wasn’t intended to come off as shock value, it was very careless of them to go against the advice and that should be acknowledged.
#10 terrible show #9 shit show #8 awful show #6 terrible show with unlikable characters #2 A moment so badly handled and exploitative that Spike's actor walked off the set pissed that he did the scene and told the writers to f#$% off #1 You mean the show & scene that glorified suicide caused a RISE in suicide? Who didn't see that coming? This is stupid
Hmmm... is it deliberate? I mean, each pick is seemingly from: abortion, suicide, gun violence, teacher-student relationship, coming out as gay, coming out as lesbian, rape in a relationship, homophobic turned to a member of the lgbtqia+, threesome, obsession turns deadly.
I remembered when I watched 13 Reasons Why and I couldn't believe how graphic the finale was. It was so so graphic. Another scene that was graphic was the sexual assault by Monty to Tyler. I stopped watching this show after season 2. It as just becoming too much and just wasn't that into it anymore. I also remember the scene from One Tree Hill and was shocked at what happened to Keith. It was so messed up how he was killed by his own brother and he was never arrested for the crime.
Someone below said it right things that happen in real life do not get censored and they did before every show of 13 Reasons Why told people what the show was about and the things could trigger you. But we need to see those hard things.
That suicide scene in 13RW was so graphic. I am not squeamish at all and it made me cringe. Please don't watch this show if you struggle with depression or if you're suicidal. It's guaranteed to make you feel bad.
I watched 13 Reasons Why in middle school. MIDDLE SCHOOL! I was like 13! I’m just now realizing while watching this video that that’s way to young to watch that show. Like seriously, I was barely a teenager but that was when the show first came out so nobody talked about how graphic and traumatizing the show can be so I stuck with the show since the last freaking season when I was finally in high school. The scene that really traumatized me for years after watching the show was Tyler’s assault. I still think about that scene sometimes.
I don’t know if anyone else have thought of this but I can’t help but think about how Hannah recorded all of those tapes all while knowing she was going to kill herself. Like how do you do so much prep for something like this all while being fully ready to kill yourself? Did she not have a second of doubt while thinking about what to say in the tapes. Or is it all just the whole ‘maybe they’ll listen to me when I’m dead’?
13 Reasons Why consistently ranks high on Mojo’s lists, largely due to its relevant themes and the controversies surrounding it. The show addresses real-life issues faced by many teens, particularly those dealing with mental health challenges.
I remember that they couldn't even show the entirety of "Accidents Will Happen" in the states. The N just took the B plots of both parts and called them "Extras" so we wouldn't be confused why Toby and Jimmy got detention and why Liberty is dating Towerz.
Am I the only who actually prefers the graphic part in 13rwtape7. I mean yes it's horrific to watch but that's exactly the point. There's no sugar coating it, suicide is horrible for everyone involve, by showing that scene you actually see how gruesome, sad and awful it is. But that's just me, it's not suitable for everyone but it is eye opening for anyone to see how terrible it is and how it was led to it.
I'm a little surprised that Ms Mojo found the Gossip Girl threesome to be underwhelming. I remember watching it when it came out and gasping. I get that they didn't show everything (which I wouldn't expect because it's primetime tv on a basic channel) but they do show a bit more in the following episode as well. But, as a fan, that moment felt big because I had never seen a threesome on that kinda show yet, Hilary Duff still felt like a child star so it was crazy to see her having an adult threesome, and it felt like I had waited FOREVER for Dan and Vanessa to hook up.
Before I proceed with the video, I honestly came here for Euphoria. The show as a whole is filled with shocking moments so well put together and talking about serious subject in a very raw and a real/no-nonsense way, that it is the only thing I think about when "shocking" and "show" is mentioned.
I dunno, as shocking as Euphoria is, it's not half as bad as 13 Reasons Why, when I'm watching Euphoria I can separate the fact that what I'm seeing is a made up show, not memories of things that were actually done to me, 13 Reasons Why is still very painful because the show literally triggers memories that are excruciating for me to remember.

I'm honestly really shocked that they didn't include the school shooting episode from Degrassi. I think that one was way more controversial than Manny's abortion and it left viewers feeling shocked, sad, and a little empty inside.
I’m still recovering from Freddie’s death it was so shocking and brutal god I love skins it’s literally the best teen drama ever made no any other show about adolescent will ever reach this level of perfection and realism but that was just cruel and unnecessary sometimes I am questioning myself why I am still watching it
All very powerful and memorable to me. But tree hill will always affect me due to Keith being shot by his own brother . And of course Jimmy taking his own life.
I hate the idea that something "wouldn't get made today" or similar sentiments but with everything going on with the Supreme court rn I truly wonder if an episode like "Accidents Will Happen" would be broadcast as it was meant to in the states today. I'd like to think so but who knows
What about any scenes from The Vampire Diaries which I thought at the time was dark and risky in some episodes... I can't believe that they got away with some stuff on The CW.
Anyone who thinks the 13 reasons why finale went too far is too stupid to do anything, it was supposed to be graphic it was supposed to upset people. Netflix cutting out her suicide scene was one of the single dumbest things any service has ever done and I think it marks a direct part where the entire company started to go downhill
Manny pissed me off when she kept saying “I can’t do this I can’t do that” it just made her sound selfish. Like girl all you had to do was make sure you used protection and now you expect sympathy? Don’t get me wrong I love Manny to death and always will but I hated those episodes.
imo that GG eppy was more cringey than anything else....maybe if it had've been between other characters it wouldn't of been but Dan/V/Olivia was just "ick" it's like they just wanted to set-up another triangle and push Dan/V together so it was like "I know let's have them do a threesome" so bad

Greetings, I sincerely want to comment on the following, it makes me a little hypocritical to put Buffy and in the juvenile dramas since that situation with Spike, although it is delicate, we must also remember that Buffy many times when she wanted to have sex and Spike had to be subdued as when Buffy is Invisible and there was no complaint, but when the situation was reversed Then it became a drama and Spike became the Villain And that part Since I saw it many years ago it never seemed fair to me. I think that the gender issue really makes it bigger than it is, Buffy was also very Abusive And that part is not Commented, it is taken with humor, the abuse also existed from Buffy and there is not Commented. On the other hand, in the case of Hannah Baker, the entire series is focused on a suicide and it is natural that it is in the first places, but honestly, it is good. I consider that the way in which the veins are cut is very impressive, I think that the scene where Jimmy Edward commits suicide and what he says here is more painful, it is a stronger scene and it was only put together in 2 chapters. I think Jimmy's death deserved a better place

Yeah I felt really uncomfortable watching that scene
He has a clause not to do any rape senses.
Yeah I felt so triggered watching that
Yup
Neither could i😭
yup and we thought Hannah’s assault was the worst 😭
Which one the boy who gets assaulted in the toilet seeks revenge as a shooter🤔
I was shocked and furious when Blaine started dating the person who bullied kurt 😡🤬😳
Freddie death was tragic skins was an amazing shows. and it had Jack O’Connell for few seasons he’s one of my favourite actors
Spoilers cook does get Revenge for the death of his best friend
@@thatamericanbritishbloke5672
Tbh... Seeing how graphic that was would probably put 2nd and 3rd thoughts into the mind of someone who wpuld have seen that... I know I MYSELF would have been turned off from doing something so drastic if the thought ever crossed my mind.
i would say seeing Hannah's parents find her body was really important as well because it showed the damage of sucide
I watched in once
“Tape 7, Side A,” among other _13 Reasons Why_ episodes, is a prime example of why the novel will always be better.
Seconded, the novel didn't directly depict the suicide, and the graphic suicide from the show seemed to be there for shock value. In the book, Hannah uses pills to end her life.
that scene still haunts me
The book was great
What haunts me is when clay sees ghost and Jessica seeing Bryces ghost
It's still a terrible story
i loved 13rw exactly for that, because they didn't shy away from showing the darkest scenes uncensored. i don't see how showing her suicide scene is any different from just implying that she did it.
1. It always shocks me to see a young Olivia Wilde on the OC
SO glad to see Degrassi receiving some love! To be honest, Degrassi had storylines similar to a lot of the ones listed here, and did them earlier.
I was hoping Degrassi would be on here!! It's my favorite show of all time. I was wondering if the shooting episode would be on here; I should've known it was going to be the "Accidents Will Happen" two-parter considering it was banned from the US 🤐
Hannah, and Justin (13 reasons why) broke my heart! 😭🥺
That scene from 13rw was, in my opinion, necessary and very well done. However, I do understand why would some people fear copycat behaivors, specially in younger teens and people in a vulnerable state.
I absolutely agree!
I remember watching Degrassi next generation and that episode it was a shocker back in them days.
It's so weird, but I thought the school shooting was more triggering, especially since a main character was shot and another main character took the life of the shooter. I guess since they did the “One Tree Hill” shooting due to the plot twist at the end, they went for one of the many other controversial “Degrassi” episodes.
That episode reminded me of the school shooting episode with Rick - lots of good topics from Degrassi, like the comment above mentioned
For glee Blaine was originally supposed to date Sebastian but he was too busy doing the Flash.. I hated that relationship so much
I always find that odd considering the whole reason for Blaine was because Sam was originally supposed to date Kurt, but that was changed when the producers saw the chemistry Chord Overstreet had with Dianna Agron, then with Amber Riley later on.
Exactly 💯
What about the mop assault scene in 13 Reasons Why Season 2. That went way too far.
Hannah’s suicide was graphic but it was getting its point across.
Well, Blaine had always been quite insensitive and entitled regarding Kurt, so I wasn't surprised by his turn in s6. What surprised me was that Kurt still wanted him.
Oh my god!!! Buffy and Spike shook me to my core!! Also I love the channel❤️
honestly, I had a love/hate relationship with them 😅
To me spike and buffy's relationship was toxic 😖
Wasn't that episode of Glee "I kissed a girl" controversial? I've heard it received a lot backlash back then
for me one of the worst parts about that episode of 13 reasons why was when we found out who number 13 was, in very real way he could have saved her but he failed Hannah
Oh god the seeing red episode still haunts the Buffy fan base to this day everyone finds it uncomfortable to watch
Totally agree 💯
Top 10 best songs from Bratz soundtracks please!~
(Meaning if they happened to go out one time that was one thing, but if they saw one another for a couple of months, even if they didn’t consider it really important, they were no longer datable. )
The fact that Blaine met Kurt bc Dave was making his life so miserable and terrifying that KURT ACTUALLY CHANGED SCHOOLS TO GET AWAY makes the idea of him dating Dave, even a couple of years later, beyond ridiculous.
(That really is probably just me, but I think that every time I watch that episode.)
Blaine dating him was wrong on so many levels.
It forced many adults to have difficult conversations with their kids that they might not have otherwise had.
yeah in a way number 13 was the worst offender of all of them because he was the adult
Here’s the thing: they went completely against official advice from actual psychologists on how to portray suicide on screen. Even if it wasn’t intended to come off as shock value, it was very careless of them to go against the advice and that should be acknowledged.
Niamh HA what is that actual advice then?
#10 terrible show
#9 shit show
#8 awful show
#6 terrible show with unlikable characters
#2 A moment so badly handled and exploitative that Spike's actor walked off the set pissed that he did the scene and told the writers to f#$% off
#1 You mean the show & scene that glorified suicide caused a RISE in suicide? Who didn't see that coming? This is stupid
Great msmojo video 📹 👏
the One Tree Hill school shooting will never leave me 😔
Whoever thinks 13 reasons why went too far , needs to stop being sensitive. That happens in real life.
Hmmm... is it deliberate? I mean, each pick is seemingly from: abortion, suicide, gun violence, teacher-student relationship, coming out as gay, coming out as lesbian, rape in a relationship, homophobic turned to a member of the lgbtqia+, threesome, obsession turns deadly.
Well, I saw the scene before it was edited, so I can definitely say that Hannah's suicide scene was incredibly disturbing.
I did too. It lives rent free in my head
I never watched 13RW but to glamourise suicide is disgusting. Worst thing Netflix has ever done
I think 13 Reason why most empact full series so far
Someone below said it right things that happen in real life do not get censored and they did before every show of 13 Reasons Why told people what the show was about and the things could trigger you. But we need to see those hard things.
20 years later I still hate Seeing Red... Why did they do that to Spike!!!
I loved 13 Reasons Why. But even there’re parts of the show that were hard to watch including Hannahs suicide.
How about the mop scene in the bathroom ?
@@Missmagazinebura Oh I was watching that episode on my phone and when it happened I dropped my phone because of how uncomfortable it was
Degrassi is the best. But how about the school shooting episode?
I thought that was gonna be #1
Glee's shooter episode should've been on here
Came for Degrassi and was not disappointed :)
Not even going to front, that Dave Karofsky reveal at the time led me down the Klainosky fanfiction black hole, and it was great!
Do top 10 times the Jeffersons tackled serious issues and top 10 Bonnie and Enzo moments from the vampire diaries
I’m sorry but Tyler’s assault was way worse than Hannah’s, and also worse than the suicide scene…
Number 1: 95% of Normal People
Before I proceed with the video, I honestly came here for Euphoria. The show as a whole is filled with shocking moments so well put together and talking about serious subject in a very raw and a real/no-nonsense way, that it is the only thing I think about when "shocking" and "show" is mentioned.
I’m on episode 6 haven’t brought my self to finish lol the first five was enough for me🫣😩
I dunno, as shocking as Euphoria is, it's not half as bad as 13 Reasons Why, when I'm watching Euphoria I can separate the fact that what I'm seeing is a made up show, not memories of things that were actually done to me, 13 Reasons Why is still very painful because the show literally triggers memories that are excruciating for me to remember.
Euphoria is stupid
One Of My Controversial Moments That Left Me Scarred And Broken Was The Ghost Sonata From Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists When Alison & Emily Signed Their Divorce Papers!!! It Tore Me Apart 3 Years After It Was Cancelled, If This Brand New Version Of The Same Name Original Sin Approaches On HBO MAX This Season Is Gonna Absolutely SUCK. THAT SHOW DESERVED BETTER!!!
Some of my favorite shows and favorite moments!
People need to understand this once for all: NOT talking albout suicide does NOT prevent it from happening!
The hot tub rape scene is 13 reasons why, the mop scene in 13 reasons why and the suicide scene and when her parents find her made my stomach drop to the floor.

I'm honestly really shocked that they didn't include the school shooting episode from Degrassi. I think that one was way more controversial than Manny's abortion and it left viewers feeling shocked, sad, and a little empty inside.
The many episode was banned at first lol. The paige episode where she is assaulted was shocking also

I’ve always hated the whole Buffy and spike thing it ruined spike as a character when he was obsessed with Buffy… hated it then still hate it now!!!
I love Buffy❤Still
I’m still recovering from Freddie’s death it was so shocking and brutal god I love skins it’s literally the best teen drama ever made no any other show about adolescent will ever reach this level of perfection and realism but that was just cruel and unnecessary sometimes I am questioning myself why I am still watching it
All very powerful and memorable to me.
It would
What about any scenes from The Vampire Diaries which I thought at the time was dark and risky in some episodes... I can't believe that they got away with some stuff on The CW.
Nothing about that show was controversial
That gossip girl was definitely cringy for me…
I was in collage when Marissa and Alex kiss happened and remember hearing guys going up and down the hall screaming, so excited!
😂😂😂
Anyone who thinks the 13 reasons why finale went too far is too stupid to do anything, it was supposed to be graphic it was supposed to upset people. Netflix cutting out her suicide scene was one of the single dumbest things any service has ever done and I think it marks a direct part where the entire company started to go downhill
Manny pissed me off when she kept saying “I can’t do this I can’t do that” it just made her sound selfish. Like girl all you had to do was make sure you used protection and now you expect sympathy? Don’t get me wrong I love Manny to death and always will but I hated those episodes.
The Glee episode "Loser like Me" while the pairing didn't feel right it was realistic
Buffy was the only show I watched. I guess Secret Life of an American Teen wasn't as popular.
imo that GG eppy was more cringey than anything else....maybe if it had've been between other characters it wouldn't of been but Dan/V/Olivia was just "ick" it's like they just wanted to set-up another triangle and push Dan/V together so it was like "I know let's have them do a threesome" so bad
Didn't you do this countdown already?
Glee s3 e14 - On my way and s4 e18 - Shooting Star are far more controversial episodes than Glee s6 e1 - Loser like me.
Anyone who's seen the show can agree with me
Aint nothing controversial about "Loser Like Me" lmao. The most controversial episode is the Shooting episode. They literally used the Sandy Hook massacre as inspiration.
you forgot the Buffy the vampire slayer episodes earshot and graduation part 1 & 2
Olivia and Vanessa looked like they enjoyed it
There were multiple trigger warnings for for the 13 reasons why scenes. Watch at your own discretion?
Euphoria was so boring. I couldn't even finish the first season.
Just wanna talk about the r*pe episode on Switched at Birth that still gets me angry until this day.
Only one I one I knew was #1 and I agrree
I didn't expect skins to be here
there's definitely more tree hill lockdown also the fosters rape switched at birth gossip girl controversy can be anywhere or on anything not just teen dramas also reality shows or movies it can be discerning and also very hard
Can y’all believe i have yet to watch 13 reasons why🙂
No one has seen any of these old shows.
Lmao
The narrator's vocal fry is unbearable.
