I think you need to replace the sprocket bearing. Coupling rubber doesn't cause sprocket play, but since you are already need to change the bearing, i recommend you to also change the coupling rubber along with it and it is very cheap too. And also before doing all the work, make sure the sprocket holding bolts are tight and properly locked.

Sprocket play alone doesn't cause much handling issues. But it seriously ruin your chain and sprocket.
Changing coupling rubber gives you smooth gear shift and take off.
