The difference is the pitches and notes. In the studio she sang more up note, in the acoustic she sang downwards. Thats probably what people meant

Came back to watch this in 2020 and it seems now I have even more respect for this performance. She was so pro at this point already, just the way she is able to control her voice and even subtly changes her positions as compared to the mic in order to make it sound the way it should during certain higher notes.

Her songs are huge hits, but she's not a good live performer and her voice is boring. Before you ask me what I'm doing here, I'll just clarify my friend told me amazing things about Ellie and I was expecting better....but the studio versions of her songs are always like 2000 times better than the live versions.
