Definitely a successful venture. My Dad was a Fire Officer based at Petrie with shifts at Arana Hills, Eatons Hill, and time spent in the Auxiliary Stations such as Dayboro, for 34 years. I was born in 1970 but I have some vague memories of Dad taking us for a drive through the area taking in the region before it got dammed and flooded, although I remember more about after it was filled, but they could be memories from the decade after. I do have 1 distinct memory of driving down one of the roads before and after the dam was filled, possibly the northern side of Whiteside Road.
G'day champ this was very interesting. My grandparents dairy farm was resumed by the government for the dam. I was only quite young when they left and can't remember what Street they lived on. Thanks for your videos.
Your videos are really fascinating, particularly incorporating the historical aspect. Wish we could go on adventures with you. Great stuff, keep the video's coming. Glad you got some snake gators'
I think you’re right. I suspect that the land was leased back after the dam was built. There was definitely another one on the aerial images that has recently been removed. So I assume someone still owns it.
10:35 "Oh wow, that's still really operational!" Probably because it's not that old 🤣 A lot of the resumed land around the dams are still used by their original owners. SEQ Water lease the land back to them at a nominal fee for agricultural purposes.
Definitely a successful venture.

Very interesting as always.
Can I borrow your time machine please? Don't ask why.
I won't be building the Time Machine until 2037. I don't know how I built it yet. Feel free to use it last Wednesday when it arrives.
@@camcarteradventures Thanks. It worked a treat.
Interesting. I don't think that cattle pen is 50 plus years old. Cheers Graham
