Good advice to avoid the ebay specials. I had a mitsubishi eclipse come in several years ago with a metal intake and cone filter. It was fairly heavy and was not supported. It broke the intake manifold where the throttle body bolts on. The intake manifold was a discontinued part. Ouch.
I can't remember the fittings anymore that was awhile ago. I went to a speed shop that specializes in like AN Fittings and other auto fasteners. It's not a chain store it was family owned.
How about fuel efficiency? With just normal driving, did it increase or decrease mpg? With applying load/harder throttle, does it sound better in the cabin?
Fuel efficiency may have increased slightly but shortly after this I installed all terrain tires and a roof rack so that didn't help with gas mileage. And as far as sound in the cabin I can't say either bc of the borla exhaust and all terrains.
Thank you. And ya I try to save people from a headache later on. And ya I don't think they really care what happens later. Just as long as it works and looks good out of the box lol
Question, I was thinking about installing a cold air intake on my 2021 Kia Sorento ( non-turbo) again it's not a turbo. I can't find one that is compatible for the original 2.5 engine GDI.
Your best bet is to just run a better quality filter. If they don't have one that's engineered to actually work then I wouldn't waste money. A good amount of time has went into the intake and should be getting the freshest air possible
Thanks for doing the video but…did you…just…basically remove rubber tubing, a box, and flat filter and replace it with metal tubing, a box, and a conical filter in the same location?
Yes indeed. The new filter is still getting air from the same spot the original was bc that is the best way to do so. Here we replaced the filter with one that flows a little better and piping that is smoother and does not have the baffling like the stock. So it's getting air from the same place Bit can now flow a little faster and smoother.
No not unless it is the direct result of an issue that jaapens to your vehicle. I have had mine on for over a year with no issues. They would have to prove that what happened to your vehicle was caused by the aftermarket product
Tony, I’m new to your channel but would like to see if you could do a quick update video on this. I would be interested to see if you have received better MPG. I’m not to concerned about HP being it’s a heavy vehicle and more designed for luxury. Thanks in advance!
Yes indeed I'll be check it over the next week. I know with the new exhaust I have been getting .7 to 1.2 mpg better on the highway. I'll see if this helps as well
@@Xatokuom I want to say I was getting about 1.6 to 2 mpg better on the highway with both but then I put offroad tires and a roof rack on it so it's hard to verify that now lol
Tony-So it's been 3 years since you've dropped this video. Would you still recommend the K&N? I just installed the Borla exhaust on my 24 Telluride and thinking about installing the K&N CAI. Thanks in advance.
I have 2024 telluride and installed k&n cold air intake a week ago. I tested on a mountain road where i usually go for a ride. I feel little more power bcz when i go up hill, the transmission should change to kower gear but this time it did not. However, little bit noisy even from inside. Also, 2mpg got increased
Some interior sound clips before and after would have made this a solid review. Funny, your Summitracing link says "will not fit your 2021 Telluride" ...weird.
Ya I plan on doing another video for interior sound and drive by. Even though many have already been released. Lol ya I think Summit needs to update the vehicle info
Does anyone know where I can find the fittings online? All I can find is the 3/8 hose barbs but it’s been impossible finding the 5/8 even searching online race shops
That's exactly why I switched to these bc the plastic fittings they include are extremely hard to find. So if one breaks. Then your basically out of luck. I had to go to a local race shop and have them put something together for me using earl brand fittings. Now it's not necessary. I just didn't want to deal with issues in the future
@@TonyTheTechnician I live in NYC and race shops are far from me and with 2 babies at home finding time to drive out to one is a problem. I’ve had problems with plastic fittings in the past so I’m holding off on installing until I can find the 5/8 hose fitting.
I actually got mine at a local race shop but the fitting I'm sure can be found online as well. Here is the sizes. The smaller one is 1/4 NPT to 3/8 hose barb. The larger is 1/4 NPT to 5/8 hose barb
@@TonyTheTechnician Just took a look under my palisade and looked up both the axle back of the telluride and palisade parts and it looks almost identical. hhhhmmm...
I would say it's worth a shot at trying it but it is expensive and would be unfortunate if it didn't fit. You may be better off just unbolting yours buying a borla mufler and having the pipe and tips welded on
So I have had this on for more than 2 months now and have had no issues with the check engine light or dtc's.
have you noticed any changes to fuel consumption? worth doing power wise?
Any update on a drive-by video? Would love to hear how it sounds from the drivers seat too. Thanks!!
Can you post a link to the fittings you used?
@TonyTheTechnician
What tire and wheel set up do you have? Your telluride looks very nice
Drive by vid please I’ve been waiting to order one for my telluride
I am almost pretty sure this can fit the 3.3L V6 Sorento, the engine bay looks exactly the same
I have both on my 2020 and they did not trip the check engine light
So where do you get the plastic parts on the intake tube, I would like to replace them before I install mine please sir
I had to go to a performance shop for the fittings

good video. The factory jeep patriot intake is similar except for the longer down turned tube to the throttle body.
Thank you. Very nice.
Like William, I would like a better description of the fittings you went with. Aluminum, but where did you get them? Summit? Big box store?

Do they have tune for 2021 palisade
I too have a Borla exhaust and was considering this but… responsiveness and deeper tunes from my Telly? Take my money!
Haha ya it has been doing good so far. Been almost a month
@@TonyTheTechnician glad to hear! Thanks for the great vid brother!

Hey I have a question
I just installed mine, did a quick start and it smoked a little
I don’t think that is normal lol, is it?
Nothing you did with the intake should have caused anything to smoke.
It works just fine, probably some oil on the filter like mentioned elsewhere lol

Can you do a video on how to change the rear brakes. I never changed rear brakes that had the electric emergency brake
You need a scan too that has the parking brake release function
Will this fit a 2020 Kia Sorento since they look the same mine is a 3.3

Only state it's not legal is California.
Does the borla exhaust also work on the palisade?
I don't believe so. None of the sites I looked at had palisade as a fitment option unfortunately

The K&N website tests for and guarantees almost 13 hp and 24 pf of torque from this installation.
