    Thanks for the reply! The main and most important reason I use my Voyager is for safety, so I don't get lost or to find my way home if I do. I also used to plot new routes and edit past rides very easily with the old Rideleader which I can't do anywhere as well now with the new Rideleader, I cant even change my distance units to Kms!
    I have been checking regularly for improvements but have seen no changes for more than a year.

      Steve! We are working hard to smooth out the new Rideleader.com issues that our users have told us about. Everything we do in Rideleader currently is in Miles units, however on the Voyager Pro GPS unit itself we do have the option to change to KM and imported GPX tracks will do the same do the conversion calculations automatically. We did take a temporary step back to focus on Voyager Pro's release, but will continue to add more features and stability to Rideleader moving forward.

    The issue I see with this setup is that everyone in the group needs to have the Voyager Pro. A lot of what this system does is a bit redundant (engine RPM, speed, temp., etc) Also, there is no ELB/ELT so I would still have to fork out $300-400 for for a satellite communicator and mount it. Why not use Gaia GPS on my phone and a satellite communicator along with Sena headset? Buddy tracking with about a mile range isn’t quite long enough and should you get separated more than a mile you are sort of screwed. At that point having a Satellite communicator with which you can send coordinates would be nice. Seams to me, a large phone (or a small tablet) paired to a Sena headset is still the best option and as long as you use leather gloves the touch screen isn’t an issue.

    I have the old version and I think it is brilliant, but they have changed the original RideLeader software which was also excellent to a web based version that is extremely limited in its functions and although they have told me they will be improving it, it hasn't changed in 18 months...hopefully now that they have this new version voyager up and running they will have time to work on the software.
    When and if they improve their Ride Leader program I will definitely buy the new version.

      We are working on further development of the Rideleader platform. The GPX trails that are currently in Rideleader can be downloaded and imported to the Pro, like the original Voyager. You won't be disappointed if you pick up a Pro in the future!

    Can it be securely locked to prevent theft? Looks really amazing and can even replace or assist a speedo/tacho, which for weight conscious people is amazing.

    • @Papparratzi
      @Papparratzi 5 років тому +1

      It has a very small allen screw thats under the mount. It can be turned in so that you can't use move the spring loaded lock in clip.
      Truth is that if someone wants to steal it, they can break the mount off. Not easy but not foolproof

    I just ordered one! How does the multiple rider tracking work? Wouldn't the devices have to communicate with each other? And if so could the signal be lost in mountainous terrain or long distance?

    • @trailtechinc
      @trailtechinc  6 років тому +3

      Hey Moto Fixery! Good questions. First, both parties have to be Voyager Pro enabled. Buddy Tracking is done by FM signal. Average distance is .5-1.5 miles in trail terrain. The more obstacles, the less distance. In open areas the longer the distance.

I see the v1.2 software menu/gauges updates and Polaris application add but is that the key differences expected for the June '23 hardware preorder release? I like it! BUT, how good is the on and off road mapping for third world countries. There are a lot of good GPS devices and even apps that do a great job while traveling in the US, but try traveling all through America and good luck with that. I need and I am in search of a GPS to take with me through my journey through all of America, not just the US. From the most southern part of America in of Argentina to the most northern part of America in Alaska. And of course with accurate and up to date information.

    • @henryhiggins2021

      GPS measure's speed as if you are moving across flat ground , signals can be blocked by building's , trees , and tunnels. Also the position of satellites can effect GPS readings .

  • @edivollgas719

    Allmost what I am waiting for my bikes.
    Aftermarket on and offroad vehicle display and Interface.
    But for me its more about integration than doubling functions.
    Got a Smartphone and bluetooth headset with me anyway.
    So eg killer features for me would be:
    - oil temp warning on headset while audio navigating on phone apps like maps osmand or kurviger.
    - big display of arrow and distance to next action from phone app on the vehicle screen.
    If this could be in future updates I will be Your customer.

    • @trailtechinc

      It comes pre-loaded with topo for the lower 48 United States. We have other maps available for download from our website depending on where you are located.

    • @ADVLite
      @ADVLite 6 років тому +1

      Trail Tech I understand that it has Topo but can trail maps be loaded on it? For example, on a garmin you can load California Trail Maps to see names of trails as you come up on them in order to not have to pre-plan a route in rideleader. Thanks for your help in trying to understand this. I love my original Voyager on my Beta but am really wanting to be able to overlay a trail map like the other GPS units out there.

    • @trailtechinc
      @trailtechinc  6 років тому

      Oh! That makes more sense. It will be able to load the GPX files like the previous Voyager for tracks and routes. However, using our Rideleader.com site you can save multiple trails at a time and load them up to Voyager Pro.

    We ride in Nt, usually 5 to 10 people riding in outback Australia, we currently have UHF with headsets as our comms, way way way out of Bluetooth range, we are talking min 10k apart from first rider to last rider in the dust bowl, I just wonder if the buddy tracking will work in those kind of situation?

    • @jr.6199
      @jr.6199 Рік тому

      How are your comms working out now, is that still your best way to connect with other riders once you get 2+ km apart? This unit was pricey given its age. The new model Voyager Pro is due out June 2023 on a preorder release but no mention of that distance range capacity.

    • @nerdytech7287
      @nerdytech7287 Рік тому

      @J r. when phone coverage is not available, UHF is the only way to go. Install an antenna(flexible) if possible I had a hand-held mounted to my strap on my backpack near my shoulder with a wires going to the handlebars for a button I can push on the go to transmit. My headset in the helmet wasn't loud enough when at speed, and I had to custom build an amplifier circuit with aux for music. I had a set-up way over engineered as I am an electronic developer. So it will pause music from my phone when transmitting or receiving. Next plan was to install an antenna as I had issues communicating with people behind me. Only issue was could never finalise on a location on the bike. Didn't want it on the bars or at the back for easy dismount or porking my eye out. Even thought of mounting on the helmet (too wobbly and gets caught on stuff. ) finally expermented on mounting on the back pack like the army. But too many cables to plug and unplug at every stop. I cable was enough trouble as it was. ramped up the transmit voltage to 10w form legally allowed in Australia 5w. Still receiving was terrible due to signal having to pass through me. Up to 5km no issues. Anything over. (Missing rider etc) needed to climb something tall to get a good signal. Line of site easily pass 15km.

    • @jr.6199
      @jr.6199 Рік тому

      @@nerdytech7287 thanks, I'm always looking for solutions rides I lead. I use the short range Cardo Freecom 2x blue tooth when my spouse is out with me. The sound & mic quality is great as is the mesh networked Cardo Edge more capable units but budget constraints affect wider adoption in my riding group. I have a Gotenna device and handheld UHF if lost spouse. Gotennae may not be available anymore.
      In the past we all used Collet 900 communicators which had ~3 km range. They went out of business so I have to rebuild nicad battery packs and connecting cords for those to work but the Vox feature makes them unworkable as radio newbies are always in the group stepping on transmissions.
