    I purchased my 2020 KTM 300 XCW TPI and the guy I purchased it from gave me a brand new Voyager Pro with the bike. I have mounted it completely different than anyone else, where it cannot get damaged. I hooked every terminal you can to it and I can tell you I love this devise. I ride extreme enduro and want to see engine temps right away, not look to the side of my fan. This thing gives me a piece of mind when I'm way out in the middle of no where. It's very tough, look up vids and you will see someone spraying it with a high speed pressure washer on the face, then beating it with a hammer and it works like a timex. Anyway, a really cool item for off road bikes, it provides all of your bike information and GPS at the same time...to include realtime temps, engine temps, speed, altitude, and what I really like is you can place your truck location on the map before you take off for a ride. Then when you are way out in the boonies, you can find your way back without a worry.

    1:43 The power to the headlight on the Beta is
    AC and not DC. Makes sense that it didn't work well. You could use the connection of the horn (if you don't use your horn obviously) and put a jumper wire to close the circuit.

    At 600 bucks it is over price for my needs. I don't need a tach, coolant or ambient temp, or any of bike features, my bike provides me that. All I care about is accurate maps with accurate directions through third world countries, not just the US. May GPS devices and apps provide amazing navigational coverage for the US, but travel through the rest of America and the vast majority fail miserably. Give me a device that will connect to my phone and google through my phone and compare notes to it's own stored maps and gives me the best route options throughout the world, and now you are talking. This device is good for the weekend warrior who goes riding with buddies, but for the real world traveler who most often than not travel alone, it leaves me wanting more.

    Great review of this product. I appreciate the honesty with the information. We ride in Moab, Utah quite often and I hate using my cell phone for the GPS. With is running, it heats up and the red dirt in Moab is harsh on a cell phone. I have been considering getting the Voyager to put on our Can Am sxs so we can navigate. Great job on the video. Oh... I was also wondering what wireless microphone that you used for this video? When I saw how windy it was, I was thinking that I wouldn't be able to hear the video well but it worked out great.

    2 questions:
    -Can you download to the unit a gpskevin maps (they are an img file not a gpx)
    -it includes us city maps and topo maps similar to Garmin’s ?

    • @AdventureRig
      @AdventureRig  3 роки тому +3

      Thanks Jose! Trail Tech has their own mapping which we’ve found to be very great. We’ve been surprised to be in the middle of nowhere and it includes desolate roads. As far as uploading your own, your routes have to be in gpx format. TT’s site makes it pretty easy to manage and I believe you should be able to check it out before purchasing a Voyager Pro. Hope this helps! They usually have someone in customer support answer the phones too and can give you 100% answers (it’s a real person you’ll talk to).

    When you ran it to the battery, is it always on and pulling current so that your battery dies or is it switched so it only pulls current when you start the bike? Thinking about adding this to my YZ250F for trail riding but don't want to kill the battery. Also, assuming it has standard mapping for way points markers, etc. How do you download additional map segments and get them on the unit? How do you charge it when not on the bike...is it just a USB 3.0 cable to hook to PC or something?

    • @AdventureRig
      @AdventureRig  4 роки тому +3

      It has different settings. When run to the battery I put in on the setting so that it turns off once it sees the battery is not charging so it will not drain the battery. It comes with maps downloaded for the US. Check out the Polaris Ride Command website for mapping. The charging off the bike was one of my gripes. You have to have it on a dock like it is on the bike and then you can plug that in. Or if it's left on the bike you can run the cord from the outlet to the unit. www.trailtech.net/en-us/shop/accessories/digital-gauges/voyager-pro-gps/voyager-pro-gps-upgrades/voyager-pro-charger-ac-wall-charger-fits-voyager/

  • @scottphillips6342
    @scottphillips6342 Рік тому

    Are these supposed to charge when turned off? I bought a separate dock for charging inside while updating or mapping but it only charges when powered on. This makes no sense.
    Thanks.

      This may help:
      There are few menu options to change when Voyager Pro is used without a
      connection to vehicle power:
      1. Vehicle Profile > Wake Detection, Speed Source, Charge Mode
      2. Maps and GPS Setup > AutoLog Source

      I do still have oil injection but the factory computer only works about half the time. You can see it if you lean forward but usually it is blocking it. Trail Tech does sell a kit that you can wire in those lights to it if you wish.

    Great review, just one question since you went over the feature so fast. The "Buddy System" ONLY works if everyone in the group has a $600 Voyager Pro? I saw the antenna attached one the one bike. Too bad Trail Tech can't make it to work that way. (Main unit + a number of antennas)

    • @AdventureRig

      I would love it if you could simply add an antenna on your friends and you would be able to seem them on the Voyager Pro but unfortunately everyone needs a Voyager Pro for the buddy tracking to work.

    Hi
    I’m new to GPS so I have what it might sound like a dumb question.... let’s say you’re in the middle of nowhere and no signal on your cell and you look at the map on your Voyager pro and decide to go somewhere in there ... will it take you there or you need an extra step to get a track or route ?
    And also, does it has a compass ?
    Thank you

    • @AdventureRig
      @AdventureRig  2 роки тому +1

      It does not have the ability to “take” you there. It will not give you a magenta line to follow like a Garmin. You can see the trails and follow them or use a phone or computer before hand and mark trails on it. You need to create the track or route first.

      I have to lean slightly forward to see the stock computer. I have it mounted pretty far forward and upright though as 95% of the time I’m standing. Tyson has one on his KTM and he has an easier time seeing his stock computer.

    Once you recorded and saved a track on the Voyager Pro, can you rename it? Thanks

      You should be able to both on the device (by holding down the track) and on Ride Leader. I don't have the device in front of me at the moment but if you call Trail Tech support, they are always very helpful and knowledgable. Thanks for watching.

    So what if you actually have a proper dirt bike with no battery? Is this going to be useless?

    • @AdventureRig
      @AdventureRig  3 роки тому

      Yes you need a charging system.

    • @ADVNevada
      @ADVNevada 3 роки тому

      @@AdventureRig actually you can get a separate charger for this and use it on a dirt bike without a charging system as long as you charge it every ride. The Voyager PRO has an internal battery.

      @@ADVNevada This is true but from our experience it will only last two or three hours if you are using the map the entire time.

    I really don’t recommend anybody by this for off road. we all want to use technology, but this one become useless the screen is too weak. If you press on it or you fall off and hit the screen you can crack it that’s not the worst part. if you crack the screen Trial tech wants $375 to fix it more than 60% what the unit cost they advertised as off-road and the screen It’s so delicate don’t waste your money.

      I have quite literally beat the crap out of mine (and my bike) and the screen is still fine. I've been running it for about 5 years.

    I must be the only one in the world that thinks it’s barely worth using a gps off-road if it’s not actual satellite view.
    Big cartoonish lines on coloured low Rez topo is just not comfortable to use while you’re moving.

    Anything but Garmin, so sick of their monopoly of GPS and their terrible UX and nonintuitive design. Such a horrible overpriced company with very little competition. Im hoping this worked with uploaded maps from Google Maps with points

    Assuming this does NOT work with the popular single track app TRAILFORKS hey?

      If you can export gpx files off of Trailforks you could import them on to here...
