Some good arguments are made in this video. However, what about the exorbitant price of drugs, eg Ezempic or, even more egregiously, Insulin? Should that not be considered price gouging? It seems to me that private healthcare can cause some serious conflicts of interest. If healthcare was socialized, drugs that could improve the health of citizens could be funded by the government, and it would save them money later down the line. Instead, we have the case where patients have to pay high prices for drugs and then pay high prices again for 'reactive' healthcare. I'm not a socialist, but then again, I'm not a free-market fundamentalist. I just see the market as a tool to achieve certain goals, but one which can be counter-productive at times.

Kevin is correct. This is so basic and obviously true. Everybody should read Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell.

Sadly the only way to sit comfortably nowadays is coming into a lot of money (rare) and investing it. Or being smart when young & purchasing a life insurance policy & sacrificing your own ___ so your family can live without worry.

Our high prices is capitalism at work, making that money for the stockholders. We could increase taxes on increased profits and high wage earners. It might decrease the desire for higher profits and wages if taxes are incrementally increased. The wage gap is insanely out of control, we have individuals with their own space programs. while we are at it, the loopholes for the wealthy and corporations to avoid paying taxes need to removed.

Yeah, I get sick of this misguided trope. Look at places like Scandinavia, Canada, Australia. Their corporate and capital gains rate is competitive, as us their top rate of tax. Where they really raise revenue is thru eye bleeding rates on the middle and working class

Uncontrolled capitalism has some serious drawbacks. I think you reasoning has some big holes.

Not having price controls isn't "uncontrolled capitalism." We've tried them before and failed miserably. I can't believe you would make such a stupid comment on such obviously bad policy.

Lucky for you we don't have uncontrolled capitalism in the US. We have a suffocating regulatory state that's squeezing the life out of the economy.
